moreWithin the horizon of circumcision finance independent schools in recent years, particularly in the former East Germany, the question arises about the status of schools by the Protestant Church in a new light. The paper argues that it is an achievement that school is public. At the same time the concept of the public will be discussed even. In education is public still confused with government. Both are not the same, which will be remembered with a historical retrospect. In particular, a Protestant school system must take care in its own self-image to be understood as a system of public education. Exclusivity cannot be a hallmark of a protestant education. Nevertheless, protestant schools are characterized by a special pedagogical and particularly religious profile, but are open to all who wish to engage in it. It is this diversity of profiles is needed for a sustainable education system, in a pluralistic world. A profile must be made possible regardless of the ownership, also the public claim must be maintained. This can sometimes create tensions, but not "antagonistic contradictions" are, but those that can promote education as a whole.
Im Horizont der Beschneidung der Finanzierung von Schulen in freier Trägerschaft in den letzten Jahren insbesondere in den neuen Bundesländern stellt sich die Frage zum Status von Schulen in Evangelischer Trägerschaft in einem neuen Licht. Der Aufsatz argumentiert, dass es eine Errungenschaft ist, dass Schule öffentlich ist. Zugleich wird aber der Begriff der Öffentlichkeit selbst diskutiert. Im Bildungswesen wird öffentlich noch immer mit staatlich verwechselt. Dass beides nicht das gleiche ist, wird mit einer historischen Rückschau erinnert. Insbesondere ein evangelisches Schulwesen muss sich der Sache und dem eigenen Selbstverständnis nach als öffentliches Schulwesen verstehen. Exklusivität kann nicht ein Markenzeichen eines evangelischen Schulwesens sein. Gleichwohl zeichnen sich evangelische Schulen durch ein besonderes pädagogisches und insbesondere religiöses Profil aus, sind aber offen für alle, die sich darauf einlassen wollen. Gerade diese Vielfalt der Profile wird für ein zukunftsfähiges Schulwesen gebraucht, in einer pluraler werdenden Welt. Eine Profilierung muss unabhängig von der Trägerschaft ermöglicht werden, zugleich muss der Öffentlichkeitsanspruch aufrechterhalten werden. Das kann manchmal zu Spannungen führen, die aber keine " antagonistischen Widersprüche " sind, sondern solche die das Bildungswesen insgesamt voranbringen können.
