Spatial Turn

Geografia prawna to kształtujący się od lat 80. XX wieku interdyscyplinarny nurt badawczy tworzony głównie przez prawników oraz geografów społecznych i kulturowych. Ten kierunek, będący odpowiedzią na tzw. zwrot przestrzenny w humanistyce, podejmuje problematykę relacji prawa i przestrzeni oraz ich wzajemnego konstytuowania się. W dotychczasowej polskiej literaturze zagadnienia związane z geografią prawną w zasadzie nie były obecne. "Przestrzenny wymiar prawa" jest pierwszą w Polsce pracą zbiorową im poświęconą. Autorzy łączą różne podejścia badawcze i zainteresowania oraz czerpią inspiracje i narzędzia analizy nie tylko z samej geografii prawnej, lecz także z innych dyscyplin oraz nurtów nauk społecznych i humanistyki traktujących o przestrzeni i miejscach.

Początkowe rozdziały poruszają zagadnienia uniwersalne, takie jak wykorzystanie map w badaniu prawa i zjawisk prawnych, wytłumaczenie zjawiska honoru przez kategorie przestrzenno-architektoniczne czy możliwości aplikacji wybranej teorii dotyczącej przestrzeni do analiz sali sądowej. W dalszej części książki autorzy podejmują rozważania nad przestrzennymi aspektami prawa obowiązującego poza Polską, odnosząc się do wielowymiarowości i nielinearności granic na przykładzie Palestyny oraz wydzielania w indyjskiej komunikacji zbiorowej miejsc dostępnych dla jednej płci. Końcowe rozdziały traktują o konkretnych zjawiskach i regulacjach w Polsce. Omawiają umiejscowienie ośrodków dla uchodźców, wytwarzanie przestrzeni i terytorium w społecznościach pasterskich, historyczny przykład przestrzennych implikacji wybranych regulacji Polski Ludowej oraz przestrzenne skutki zakazu handlu w niedziele. Analizy wymienionych zagadnień prezentują nowe możliwości badawcze wiążące się z byciem bardziej świadomym i wrażliwym na przestrzenne uwikłanie prawa.

Street singers were crucial figures in Italian Renaissance urban culture, mediating between printed, written and oral forms of communication. Performing in the central piazza,they offered entertainment, news, satire and commentary on current events to heterogeneous publics. But as the communicative capacities of the singers reached their peak, increasingly their presence in the city was seen as threatening and disruptive. The struggle for control of the piazza became particularly bitter in the later sixteenth century, when civic and ecclesiastical authorities strove to render public urban spaces more orderly and magnificent and to police the borders between sacred and profane spaces, times and ideas.

Kökleri 1970'lere uzanan ve doruk noktasına 1990'larda ulaşan "Mekânsal Dönüş" (Spatial Turn) süreci bir girişim ve geçici bir ilgiden öte mekâna ilişkin ve mekânla ilişkili çalışmalarda esaslı bir yol değişikliği yaratmıştır. Bu süreç beşerî coğrafyanın sosyal teori ile yakınlaşma süreci olarak önceki dönemlerden farklı bir "mekân" tartışmasını içermektedir. Diğer yandan aynı süreci sosyal/beşerî bilim alanında "mekân"ı ortak bir araştırma nesnesi olarak gören disiplinlerin yakınlaşması, "mekânda buluşması" olarak da görmek mümkündür. Edward Said ise postkolonyal çalışmalar ve kültürel çalışmalar alanında mekânsal dönüşün başlıca müellifi olarak görülebilir. Said, kendi yaşam öyküsüyle dolayımladığı ilksel yaklaşımları ve coğrafi habitusunun öne çıkan varlığıyla ortaya koyduğu çeşitli kavramsallaştırmalarıyla (başlıcası "hayali coğrafyalar") döneminin siyaset ve kültür anlayışına devrimsel bir katkıda bulunurken, aynı zamanda beşerî coğrafyanın da ihtiyaç duyulan güncel tartışmalara açılım imkânını yaratmıştır. Bu imkân sadece beşeri coğrafyaya yönelik olmayıp, mekân(sal)a yönelen ilgi ile dönemin eleştirel coğrafi perspektiften yoksun gelişen düşün alanı için de geçerlidir. Buradan hareketle mevcut Türkçe beşerî coğrafya literatürünün Said'in çalışmalarına yönelik farkındalığını artırmak ve mekânsal dönüşe olan katkısını görünür kılmak bu çalışmanın başlıca amacıdır. Bu bağlamda yöntembilimsel bakımdan Said'in Şarkiyatçılık (Orientalism-1978) ve Kültür ve Emperyalizm (Culture and Imperialism-1993) isimli çalışmaları temel referans kaynaklar olarak seçilmiş olup, bu kaynaklar çeşitli makaleler, yazara ve yazınına ilişkin diğer akademik metinler, görüş ve notlarla desteklenmiştir. Yapılan değerlendirmeler ile Said'in "insanın yalnız kendi tarihini değil coğrafyasını da yaptığı" yönündeki yaklaşımıyla mekânın yapısal ilişkisel üretimi ortaya konmakta, kimlik ve hafıza ya da rasyonel olgular ile yüklenen toplumsal inşası anlamlandırılmaktadır. Ayrıca hegemonya ve iktidarın-tıpkı Doğu ve Batı örneğinde olduğu gibi-mekânsal temsili, temsilin (kolonyal) söylemle iç içe geçen yapısı serimlenmektedir. Sonuç olarak, Said'in coğrafi kavramsallaştırmaları güncelliğini korumakta ve hala küresel-yerel bağlamı tarihsel-coğrafi bir perspektifle açıklamada geçerli olmaktadır.

Abstract Beyond being just a fad, the process of "Spatial Turn" whose roots date back to 1970s and that experienced its heydays during 1990s has left a significant effect on the studies pertinent to space. Contrary to the previous trends, this rapprochement process between human geography and social theory covers a different "space" discussion. On the other hand, the very same process can also be viewed as the reconciliation of the disciplines that view the "space" as a common research ground. Edward Said can be viewed as the pioneer of spatial turn in postcolonial and cultural studies. Inspired of his own life story, Said's path-breaking approaches and conceptions (like "imagined geographies") mediated with the geographical habitus not only made a revolutionary contribution to the understanding of politics and culture of the time but also paved the way for geography to open up itself to craved hot discussions. In other words, with the newborn interest in the "spatial", both human geography and other fields that had ignored a critical geographical perspective till then attained new prospects. With this in mind, the major purpose of this paper is to create and expand an awareness in Turkish human geography literature for Said's contribution and make its contributions to the spatial turn visible. In this paper, Orientalism (1978) and Culture and Imperialism (1983) have been chosen as the basic references for Said's approach which is also critiqued with reference to various papers and views pondering on hisapproach. Taking Said’s notion “human not only makes his history but also his geography” as the starting point it is showed
how memory/identity or rationality bound social space is produced structurally and relationally. Furthermore, spatial
representation of hegemony and power and the intertwined structure of representation and (colonial) discourse is depicted.
Finally, the viability of Said’s geographical conceptualizations as keys for explaining global-local dichotomy through a historical
and geographical perspective will be demonstrated.

A másság terei. Kulturális tér-képek, érintkezési zónák a kortárs magyar és román irodalomban és filmben című  (2014–2018 OTKA NN 112700 számú) nemzetközi kutatási projekt egyik kiemelt célja volt a tér nyugati diskurzusainak a kelet-európai, posztkommunista térképződéseivel, sajátos térperformanciáival való összemérése, és egy olyan konceptuális keret létrehozása, amely segítségével a kelet-európai művészi produkciókban reprezentált „eltérő terek” értelmezhetővé válnak mind a nyugati, mind pedig a helyi befogadó számára. E cél megvalósításához járul hozzá jelen interdiszciplináris térelméleti kötet is, amelyet négy tematikus egységre tagoltunk: ezek sorrendje a tér globális, klasszikus, kulturális megközelítéseitől a specifikus és/vagy lokális vonatkozású térértelmezések felé haladás elvét követi. A tér diskurzusai nyitófejezet a 20. és a 21. század meghatározó térelméleti diskurzusaiból közöl válogatást, a térbeli fordulatot megalapozó, fogalmi apparátusát létrehozó és elemző tanulmányokat. A Poszt-terek: Drakulától a globalizációig címet viselő egység szövegei mintegy a térbeli fordulat evidenciájaként konkrét diszciplináris és társadalmi terekre fó­kuszálva az általános elméleti (posztkoloniális, posztmodern, posztkommunista) elmozdulásokat belső, egyedi nézőpontokból mutatják meg. Az Identitás és tér címmel jelzett fejezetben Stuart Hall nagyhatású 20. századi diskurzusokat reflektáló és megnyitó tanulmánya után ismételten konkrét esetleírások szerepelnek. A Tér és test című fejezetben az előbbi fejezet elmozdulásait követve diskurzusok találkozási pontjaként, a test viszonylatában kerül új megvilágításba a térről való gondolkodás. Kötetünk tehát egyszerre publikál általános diszkurzív kereteket létrehozó térelméleti tanulmányokat, ugyanakkor olyan (eset)tanulmányokat is, amelyek ezen elméleti keretek mediális, kulturális, társadalmi nézőpontból történő vizsgálatára, reflexiójára, konkrét próbatételére vállalkoznak.

Unter dem Schlagwort des spatial turn erlebt 'Raum' gegenwärtig eine ungeahnte Renaissance in der Geschichtswissenschaft. Was dort schnell zur Mode geworden ist, beschäftigt andere Disziplinen indes schon seit langem. Der interdisziplinär angelegte Band bereitet daher Theorie- und Wissensangebote aus verschiedenen Nachbardisziplinen für historiographische Zwecke auf und lotet zugleich anhand von Fallstudien das Verhältnis von Raum und Kommunikation im 19. und 20. Jahrhundert aus. Dabei steht nichts weniger als die Eignung von Raum als Zentralkategorie für eine neu zu konzipierende Kommunikationsgeschichte zur Disposition.
