In the field of occupational health and safety is too much need to these organizations due to increase occupational accidents and diseases. Because acts together of employees are very important in the occupational health and safety. The aim of this study is to examine the development of occupational health and safety and unions, search out the role of the unions in occupational health and safety and their what can do for the occupational health and safety. Literature was researched for realization of study and the obtained results were thoroughly interpret.

«Єпископ Київської Церкви» — праця, метою якої є показати, яким повинен бути єпископ цієї Церкви на підставі документів, прийнятих самими ж єпископами на різних синодах 1589-1891 рр. З того виходить цікава канонічна праця, яка доводить, якою багатогранною може бути особа єпископа як основний об’єднуючий і еклезіотворчий чинник Київської Церкви. Монографія також показує, яка велика прогалина існує в канонічній науці Київської Церкви і на скільки нинішних актуальних церковних питань (включно з проблемою тотожності) не можна бути найти належної відповіді, якщо канонічне право як повноцінна наукова галузь не розвинеться в Україні.
"Bishop of the Kyivan Church" is a work whose purpose is to show what should be the bishop of this Church based on the documents adopted by the same bishops at various synods of 1589-1891. From this, an interesting canonical work proves that the person of the bishop can be multifaceted as the main unifying and ecclesiological factor of the Church of Kyiv. The monograph also shows what a great gap exists in the canonical science of the Kyivan Church. It will not be possible to find appropriate answers to many topical church questions (including the problem of identity), if canon law as a full-fledged scientific industry does not develop in Ukraine.

Using an anarchist theoretical framework, it is argued that the working class would obtain greater gains through militant direct action modeled on the labor movement of the past. The history of the 8-hour workday is reviewed as a case study showing that it was won because of radical leaders who challenged existing legal institutional frameworks through societal education, militant ideology, direct action, and violent resistance against state attacks. Positive changes did not occur politically, peacefully, or voluntarily. Instead, oftentimes the threat of or use of violent resistance and even rebellion had preceded major concessions for the working class.

The effect of nominal tariff cuts on industry wage differentials has been the subject of a number of recent empirical studies. In this paper we investigate the latter relationship with respect to the South African trade reform experi-ence using micro-level labor data for the period from 1995 to 2004. Our study extends on the existing literature in two respects: firstly, we control for the po-tential effect of labor market institutions, such as collective bargaining power, in assessing the relationship between tariffs and industry wages. Secondly, we account for general equilibrium effects by controlling for the effect of changes in effective tariffs rates. We find that on the one hand, only wages in industries with levels of unionization beyond a certain threshold were adversely affected by tariff cuts. "Vancouver’s Ethical Purchasing Policy: A Participatory Public Policy Process

Highlights and Key Findings:

• This chapter is an analytic narrative of how Vancouver’s Ethical Purchasing Policy was written. This empirically grounded policy story offers a practical example for others to follow.
• A municipal Ethical Purchasing Policy is one way local communities can contribute to ethical trade efforts aimed at avoiding tragedies like the 24 April 2013 garment factory collapse in Savar, Bangladesh, that killed 1,129 workers.
• Vancouver’s Ethical Purchasing Policy was written by a city task force comprising two city councilors, two city managers, and representatives of several businesses, unions, and civil society organizations with expertise on international labour standards, Fair Trade certification, and ethical purchasing of global commodities.
• Participation by city managers was key because policies solely crafted by city council might not take into account the practicalities of implementing a new policy while still following existing policies. Including city managers led to successful implementation and ensured the policy saved the city money.
• Participation by community members lent legitimacy to the city’s policy and helped ensure that the policy met international ethical trade norms for union-made garments and Fair Trade certified agricultural commodities including coffee, tea, and chocolate.

On 17 February 2005, Vancouver became the first Canadian municipality to adopt an Ethical Purchasing Policy (EPP) pertaining to union-made garments and Fair Trade certified coffee, tea, and chocolate. The EPP was crafted with a high level of participation by businesses, unions, and civil society organizations. The policy’s social justice ethos stands out in an ongoing era of neoliberal retrenchment of progressive public policies. Other Canadian cities, such as Calgary, Alberta, have since followed Vancouver’s lead in ethical purchasing. Vancouver’s EPP was written by a city task force that included two city councilors, two city managers, and representatives of several businesses, unions, and civil society organizations with expertise on international labour standards, Fair Trade certification, and ethical procurement through global commodity chains. This chapter is an institutional ethnography that focuses on the policy writing process and the standardized processes that comprise public participation, public decision-making, and public administration.

The chapter is empirically grounded in seven semi-structured interviews of 30 to 150 minutes in length with the two city councilors that chaired the policy writing process, two city managers (interviewed a second time together) that oversaw the implementation of the process, one of which participated in writing the policy, and a Fair Trade activist and a union organizer that participated in the writing process. These interviews were complemented with participant observation and textual analysis. Participant observation was conducted both in real-time in activist meetings and in city council meetings and reflexively from my experience as a Canadian Fair Trade activist-researcher. The interviews and observational work helped identify key texts for analysis, including the EPP and the connected Supplier Code of Conduct (SCC), council meeting minutes, minutes of standing committees of council, reports to council by city managers, and a critical analysis of the policy written by the Maquila Solidarity Network, a Toronto-based anti-sweatshop advocacy group. The research took place from January 2006 to August 2007 as part of a larger study in which I was involved alongside sociologist Dorothy E. Smith for a community-university research alliance called "Rural Women Making Change."

Arteón is a theatre group from the city of Rosario which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. During the sixties and seventies, it was one of the most significant groups in the city, considering its career, its management capacity and its impact in the theatrical field. In this paper, we analyze the group’s process of politicization during that period. We hold the hypothesis that Arteón can be seen as an experience of militant theatre (Verzero, 2013) which, unlike other groups, was particular for its marked institutional vocation. Mainly since 1973, Arteón articulated its militant practice with an intense process of union institutionalization, getting, at the same time, progressively close to the state. This article focuses on the Iraqi Federation of Oil Unions (IFOU), Iraq’s largest and most powerful independent workers’ union. Leaving aside IFOU’s resistance of foreign occupation and its fight against privatisation, this article focuses on the tensions between IFOU and the Maliki government and examines the extent to which IFOU has served as a bulwark against the state’s rising authoritarianism. The chapter begins with a brief history of Iraqi trade unions under the Baathist regime and concludes by arguing that examples of civil society movements such as IFOU are perhaps Iraq’s only real hope for genuine democratisation.

ABSTRACT Immigrants are a growing percentage of the U.S. construction labor force, so the safety of their working conditions deserves study. This article reports on research surveying 283 immigrant construction workers in south Florida about their safety training, use of personal protective equipment, and employer safety practices. Potential impacts of unionized status and documented legal status are tested through regression analysis. Results show only a minor positive relationship of unionization with more training and safer conditions and essentially no relationship between documented legal status and training or safe conditions. Reasons for the weak results are discussed, and further research questions are posed.

Este artículo analiza en primera medida los debates entre los trabajadores de la ciudad de Cartagena por las nuevas ideas que estaban en boga (socialismo y comunismo), también la reacción frente a las medidas que en materia laboral implantaron los gobiernos Liberales (1930-1945). En segunda medida se ventilan las principales protestas de los trabajadores de los transportes (Ferrocarrileros y Portuarios); qué motivaciones tenían, cómo se desarrollaron y qué impacto tuvieron en la región Caribe. En tercera medida: se dilucida la lucha de los trabajadores por mantener la institución de la contratación colectiva frente a los empresarios, que era un proceso organizativo del mercado laboral que venía desde principios del siglo XX. A lo largo del trabajo se utilizan fuentes primarias como prensa comercial de Cartagena (Diario de la Costa, El Mercurio, El Fígaro, El Mundo Diario de Cartagena), de Barranquilla se consultó La Prensa. Periódicos adscritos al Partido Comunista Colombiano (El Bolchevique y El Diario Popular).

The study was oriented towards determining the need for professional labour
union formation for representatives of the professional and non-professional
workers in collective bargaining. The principal results were the following: the
difference between professional and trade union training is important since it promotes
the formation and training of their members for their role in collective bargaining,
and on the other hand professional training is important as a tool that permits
better employment quality, among other benefits, and that professional labour
training influences in the collective labour negotiations of each participant.

Los sindicatos son una de las instituciones más importantes de las sociedades industriales contemporáneas que consolidaron, no solo formas de socialización entre los agremiados, sino conquistas que garantizaron determinados grados de bienestar de los trabajadores. Abstract: This article charts industrial relations in BBC television from 1969-84. It is based upon ex-tensive archival research of material not previously available, and witness seminars and interviews with some of the protagonists. This was a period which saw a rise in industrial militancy at the BBC, signalled by the first “lightning ” strikes in the BBC’s history in 1969 and ending with a strike in the sce-nic services department in 1984, in the course of which BBC TV went off the air for twenty four hours but BBC management reasserted its control. In the intervening period, some groups of workers were able to secure advantageous terms and conditions for themselves, to the frustration of both manage-ment and the main BBC union, the Association of Broadcasting Staff (ABS). This article offers a de-tailed and nuanced analysis of industrial relations at an important British cultural institution in a turbu-lent period of its history.

This paper sheds light on possible explanations for the success and sustainability of the piqueteros social movement in Argentina, developed from a comparative perspective based on Latin America. I show which institutional arrangements, political actors, and configurations of power contributed to the success of the piqueteros. Applying the basic principles of the rational choice approach, I find that the success of the piqueteros movement was produced by the current political division in the ruling party (the Peronist party), by the over-regulated Argentine labor market, and by the impact of the Argentine economic crisis through the unemployment rates.

Abstract: The G8 and G20 summits took place in Huntsville and Toronto, Ontario, Canada on 25-26 and 26-27 June 2010 respectively. Summits such as these often have large budgets attached to them and attract protests from people with various political leanings deploying a diversity of tactics, and these particular summits were no exception. In this article, we contrast official and media accounts of the protest and the policing of the events with a narrative grounded in protestors’ experience, in an attempt to complicate present popular understandings of these protests. In the discussion section of the article we provide theoretical and analytic insights into what the events of last summer can tell us about organizing and policing dissent.

Le sommets du G8 et du G20 se sont tenus à Huntsville et Toronto, Ontario, Canada le 25-26 et 26-27 juin 2010 respectivement. Les sommets comme ceux-ci ont généralement des budgets importants et attirent des manifestations organisées par des individus avec des tendances politiques multiples, utilisant des stratégies diverses. Ces sommets ne font pas exception. Dans cet article, nous contrastons les descriptions des manifestations et du comportement de la police par les sources officielles et les médias, avec les récits issus de l’expérience des manifestants, dans un souci de complexifier la compréhension populaire des ces manifestations. Nous offrons des contributions théoriques et analytiques pour comprendre ce que les événements de l’été dernier peuvent nous dire à propos de l’organisation et le contrôle de la contestation.

This case is based on an actual event which happened in an international bank located in Mumbai. This case is meant to bring out how organizational conflicts can flare up without warning and can overshadow everything that a manager wants to do during the day. It particularly looks at the importance of handling unions without pandering to their every whim and examines the importance of cross cultural sensitivity in the work place. The case is also meant to provoke responses from professionals on how they may perhaps have tackled the situation.
