One of the major responsibilities of the Christian Family is not only taking care of their children but also the education of the children for the faith. This role which is so important today is iterated in many Church documents. This is not a recent addition to the responsibilities of the family; in fact, it has been the responsibility of the family since biblical times. This paper seeks to highlight the importance of the role of the family in the education for the faith of children, starting as far back as biblical times, and reaching our contemporary times by reviewing the most important Church documents. Once the role of the family in educating for the faith of children is established, then some practical ways in which the family can educate for the faith today are discussed.

Beginning with the theory of image governance, or the idea that images govern our interaction with reality, this study posits that witness operates as a governing image with unique governing characteristics. To understand these unique characteristics, contributions from nine disciplines and popular culture are woven together to construct a detailed moving image of witness based on how the term and other supporting terms are most often used in conversation, literature, art, and other media. Expressed in this moving image is the progression or series of movements occurring in time, space, and society which are implied by the term witness and supporting terms. Breaking up witness into this series of movements allowed a careful interpretation of the image and a detailed look into how the image governs reality, and especially how it governs communication. Analysis revealed a two-part progression: an event (which is experienced by a witness or witnesses) followed by the process of making that event public for a community—a relational process which involves the witness and the community in the shared work of producing public knowledge. This process, Event / Publication, was further broken into 24 sub-movements, each of which produced their own unique governing effects on reality and communication. Witness appeared as a complete act rather than as one of its many mistaken identities, such as law, trial, religion, advocacy, and protest. While these categories and many others play a role in witness, the image appearing in this study rejects these reductive explanations and instead incorporates them into the greater texture and diversity of witness as it has been used throughout history. Major contributions include the confirmation of abundant governing elements in images at close detail, a complete theoretical model of witness, greater insight into the subversive structure of witness, a revised early history of witness, and the use of behavioral science to challenge prevailing interpretations of witness. Major findings include the power of witness to draw assumed knowledge into the testimonial genre, as well as the absolute testimonial requirements of judgment, faith, mutual dependency, partial surrender of power, and nonviolence.

The first section of this paper explains why assessing the worth of expert testimony poses special epistemological difficulties. The second traces the history of the various rules and procedures by means of which the U.S. legal system has tried to ensure, or at least control, the quality of the expert testimony on which it so often relies — from the Frye Rule, the Federal Rules of Evidence, and the Daubert trilogy to recent constitutional cases regarding the appearance of forensic witnesses in court and experiments with court-appointed experts and scientific education for judges. The third and final section suggests some lessons to be learned from the limited success of these efforts, and explores what might be better strategies going forward.

John 15.26 has always been understood to be a continuation of the Paraclete’s testimony to the world. In this essay, the readers are urged to rethink the Paraclete’s witness not in relation to the world but in relation to the disciples and Johannine community’s context. By analyzing the literary and historical context, the relationship between testimony and faith, and the receptors of the Paraclete’s ministry in the Fourth Gospel, we will actually deduce that the ones who need the witness of the Paraclete the most are the disciples and Johannine community who are undergoing a trial of faith. The recognition of the Spirit’s role as an inner testifier is also manifested in other sources such as ancient Jewish literature and the New Testament canon.

The work reported in this paper is part of a project simulating maintenance operations in an automotive engine production facility. Sus narradores, los que aparecen en historias como “The Tell-Tale Heart” o “The Black Cat”, ofrecen un ejemplo magnífico para nuestro proyecto. Mentalmente inestables, a pesar de sus (¿)pretendidas(?) intenciones de credibilidad, dichos narradores suelen alejarse subjetivamente de los hechos. The objective of this work is to analyze the testimonial practice concerning the clandestine detention experience by reconstructing and analyzing the testimonial course of a survivor of a clandestine detention center during the latest military dictatorship in Argentina (1976-1983). One constant concern throughout this reconstruction has to do with understanding the gradual transformation of the discourse on crimes of state terrorism over the past thirty years. To this end, I will connect testimonial practice to different social and political situations, paying special attention to what is usually said and silenced in testimonies.

During the second Intifada which started in 2000 and ended sometime in mid 2000s, Palestinian male and female martyrs used video testimonies, records and documents of death, using the first person pronoun so as to articulate their missions and justifications for carrying out their acts of martyrdom. This study, which focuses on Palestinian female martyrs' video-testimonies, investigates the elusive relationship between martyrdom and witness. I contend that the female martyr is a witness to the Israeli occupation of Palestine and to the oppression and dehumanisation to which Palestinians are subject. Palestinian female martyrs are also witnesses to Arab leaders' weakness and their inability to defend Palestine. The act of martyrdom is a collective one, involving the martyr, the agent of narration and the audience. The audience, who bears witness to the martyr, is necessary for martyrdom to be recognised and to take place. I argue that the end of the martyr's speech marks out her silence and her transformation into an icon of resistance, heroism and sacrifice. The corpse of the martyr is transformed into the corpus of martyr's speeches and images that are disseminated by the audience who bear witness to the acts of martyrdom.

The article proposes a new translation and interpretation of the messianic prophecy in Isa. 55:1-7, whose vv. 3-5 are thoroughly analyzed. The analysis includes not only the meaning of the individual words, but also the syntactic situation of the whole sentences. It was taken into account the problem of the historical context in which Deutero-Isaiah lived, worked and preached his message. This survey is designed to obtain a better understanding of the pericope, a more consistent translation and structure of the whole passage. The study undertakes an inquiry into the question of whether the eternal covenant in Isa. 55:1-7 is the continuation of the Sinaitic Covenant, or rather does its content go beyond the Mosaic Law, creating a totally new relationship of God with Israel. The study also draws attention to the existence of a redactional addition, which shifts the weight of the original message from a revanchist judeocentrism toward the irenic ethnocentrism typical of the Book of Jonah.

Lead author: Gabi Ivens An increasing number of verified-at- capture tools and other tools for tracing authenticity provenance and edits/manipulations over time are being developed to counter misinformation, disinformation, deepfakes, shallowfakes and other 'fake news' and toprovide content validation in a time where challenges to trust are increasing. However, if these solutions are to be widely implemented, in the operating systems and hardware of devices, in social media platforms and within news organizations, then they have the potential to change the fabric of how people communicate, inform what media is trusted, and name who gets to decide. This report looks at the challenges, consequences, and dilemmas that might arise if these technologies were to become a norm. What seems to be a quick, technical fix to a complex problem could inadvertently increase digital divides, and create a host of other difficult, complex problems. Within the community of companies developing verified-at-capture tools and technologies, there is a new and growing commitment to the development of shared technical standards. As the concept of more thoroughly tracking provenance gains momentum, it is critical to understand what happens when providing clear provenance becomes an obligation, not a choice; when it becomes more than a signal of potential trust, and confirms actual trust in an information ecosystem. Any discussion of standards - technical or otherwise - must factor in consideration of these technical and socio-political contexts. This report was written by interviewing many of the key companies working in this space, along with media forensic experts, lawyers, human rights practitioners and information scholars. After providing a brief explanation of how the technology works, this report focuses on 14 dilemmas that touch upon individual, technical and societal concerns. around assessing and tracking the authenticity of multimedia. It focuses on the impact, opportunities, and challenges this technology holds for activists, human rights defenders and journalists, as well as the implications for society-at-large if content authenticity technology was to be introduced at a larger scale.
