This work gathers and values the archaeological, artistic and written (hieroglyphic) information that exists on the presence of the Mayas in the ancient city of Teotihuacan, including data from both the funerary and material and visual culture. When doing this exercise, we do not leave aside the interpretations that exist about the Teotihuacan presence in Copán, Dzibanché, Kaminaljuyú, Tikal and other Maya sites, as well as those of the Gulf Coast, Oaxaca and Western Mesoamerica within Teotihuacan itself, that we consider the ideal framework to support the hypothesis that it was a cosmopolitan metropolis with cultural, economic and political prestige during the first 600 years of the Christian era.

Este trabajo reúne y valora la información arqueológica, artística y escrita (jeroglífica) que existe sobre la presencia de los mayas en la antigua ciudad de Teotihuacan, incluyendo datos tanto de la cultura funeraria como material y visual. Al hacer este ejercicio, no dejamos de lado las interpretaciones que existen sobre la presencia teotihuacana en Copán, Dzibanché, Kaminaljuyú, Tikal y otros sitios mayas, como también las de la Costa del Golfo, Oaxaca y Occidente de Mesoamérica dentro de la misma Teotihuacan, que consideramos el marco ideal para sustentar la hipótesis de que fue una metrópoli cosmopolita y de prestigio cultural, económico y político durante los primeros 600 años de la era cristiana.
