In 2003, the John A. Hartford Foundation Institute for Geriatric Nursing (Hartford Institute), in collaboration with the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, conducted a survey of baccalaureate schools of nursing in the United States to compare gerontological content to baseline data collected by the Hartford Institute in 1997. Since last surveyed in 1997, baccalaureate nursing programs have been the recipients of substantial new resources and initiatives focused on gerontological curriculum enhancement. While these initiatives are ongoing, and some are in an early stage of development, resurveying baccalaureate programs was seen as a means of taking a midcourse "pulse" as to the effectiveness of these efforts. É comum que dúvidas sejam levantadas sobre se um partido político insere-se no campo da esquerda ou da direita. Especialmente no caso brasileiro, a resposta para esse problema é ainda mais complexa dada a quantidade de legendas que competem nas eleições, atualmente 33 partidos. Aplicamos um questionário para 519 cientistas políticos, residentes no país e no exterior. A pesquisa foi realizada em julho de 2018, antes da campanha eleitoral daquele ano. A partir da resposta de cada um deles para os então 35 partidos existentes no Brasil fizemos a média da posição ideológica dessas legendas. Os respondentes foram instados a classificar os partidos em uma escala de zero a dez, em que zero representava a posição mais à esquerda e dez, mais à direita.

This teacher survey is available for re-use in studies of 21st century teaching and learning.  It has demonstrated excellent reliability, improving on reliable measures from previous studies (std. alpha > .90, inter-item correlations > .58).  Support for content validity is based on review of existing frameworks and measures.  Support for concurrent validity includes strong relationships to time spent using project-based learning.

The telecom regulator in Guyana, with the backing of the Government, introduced competition in the mobile market sector in the year 2006. However, the fixed-line market and the international telecom sector in Guyana has been dominated by a 40-year (monopoly) license that holds exclusivity over landline voice, data connectivity (internet) and international voice and data access.
The telephone company, GT&T has, over its life, made contributions to the national economy while creating the opportunity for its own expansion and growth as well as the international expansion of its parent company.
This quantitative correlational study analyzed the results of a web based and face-to-face survey to quantify the value of the telecoms monopoly (i.e. fixed-line market and international telecom sector) to Guyana, a developing country.
This research found that there is no significant relationship between telecom monopoly in the country and Guyana’s economy. The study has shown that the impact of liberalization will neither negatively impact the economic well-being of the national economy of Guyana nor that of the incumbent, GT&T.
This study also supported the hypothesis that there is significant impact of telecoms market liberalization on the satisfaction of the telecoms subscribers in Guyana. The study further concluded that there is significant difference in the satisfaction experienced from telecom services between the male population and the female population of Guyana.
This study also concludes that customers’ acceptance of and satisfaction with liberalization is directly correlated to their satisfaction with the company’s products, its customer care and quality of service – which are usually the factors that influence customers’ willingness to pay higher prices with the converse being true for lower prices.

A central component of the primary health care approach in developing countries has been the development and utilization of community-based health workers (CHWs) within the national health system. While the use of these front line workers has the potential to positively influence health behavior and health status in rural communities, there continues to be challenges to effective implementation of CHW programs. Reports of high turnover rates, absenteeism, poor quality of work, and low morale among CHWs have often been associated with weak organizational and managerial capacity of government health systems. However, no systematic research has examined the contribution of work-related factors to CHW job performance. Systematic methods for improving response rates in surveys has been an area of interest for researchers for some time following the articulation of the Total Design Method (Dillman 1978) which included applying aspects of social influence and social exchange theory to encourage responses. One part of the literature focused on the idea of offering a tangible but token incentive to respondents at the time of the request for data. Subsequent research and experience has shown that appropriate incentives do improve respondent cooperation in terms of obtaining better response rates (eg Singer and Wilmot 1997; Yammarino, Skinner and Childers 1991). The focus of most work has been on using monetary or token material incentives for surveys of individuals, so little is known about the problem of how to motivate businesses and the individuals in them to respond. La ricerca spazia dall’analisi della rappresentazione urbana alla sistematica catalogazione degli strumenti per il rilievo e la misura del costruito. Nuove osservazioni sono scaturite dall’analisi della pianta di Imola, in cui si sono rintracciati i punti misurati da Leonardo. A secoli di distanza le nuove tecnologie per il rilievo urbano non si discostano di molto dai metodi rinascimentali.

T his paper examines the staffing, division of labor, and resulting profitability of primary care physician practices. Division of labor is viewed as a mechanism to increase the efficiency of production processes through specialization. At the same time, division of labor also introduces coordination cost as handoffs and communication needs increase. We attempt to empirically assess the net effect in primary care physician offices. We collected data from a sample of these practices and tested two hypotheses: (H1) controlling for staff size, greater delegation through the use of more staff types will decrease the throughput of visits, and (H2) controlling for staff size, income per unit time generated by the practice is decreasing in the number of staff types. This research explored the level of students’ basic and integrated Science Process Skills (SPS) based on their academic majors, gender, and grade levels at the end of a chemistry laboratory course. Convenience sampling was used to select 298 undergraduate students at the Yogyakarta State University, Indonesia. A survey method was used, and the data were collected using the Basic SPS (BSPS) and Integrated SPS (ISPS) Observation Checklist. The results showed that the students’ basic and integrated SPS were considered medium and low respectively. Furthermore, there was a significant gap in the students’ performance based on their majors, gender and grade levels. Surprisingly, it was found that the perception and social convention that males are stronger than females in science appears not to be the case among students. This dissertation is the first major academic analysis of the Danish refugee solidarity movement that mobilized more than 100,000 citizens in the fall 2015 when the European refugee crisis reached Denmark. The dissertation makes four main contribution to the two questions of differential recruitment—what accounts for activists’ involvement in different activities—and the question of social movement outcome in the form of changes to the activists’ political perceptions. First, it argues that in solidarity activism an ethical demand to care for the unfortunate is a central driver that may lead to involvement in high-risk activism. This ethical demand is mediated by values of altruism. Second, such basic human values are argued to be important for how we react emotionally to major events which, together with effects of network and socialization, influence our propensity to engage in activism of varying risk. Third, values are also expressed in variation between the style group interaction. No matter prior experience with activism, activists in groups with a style that focuses on the immediate compassion and care for the refugees engage to a lesser degree in political protest, than do activists in a group culture that focuses on the political and contentious dimension of the matter. Fourth and finally, for activists engaged in the legal cases of refugees, experiencing an immigration-bureaucracy with little or no care for the human beings behind the dossiers combined with an experience of systematic bias against the refugee, results in a loss of institutional trust. Given the fact that the activists also prior to their involvement in the movement had a high level of participation in democratic civil society, the operation of the institutions causing loss of trust, may pose a unintended threat to Danish democracy by alienating key actors in civil society from the institutionalized political process.

Multicasting is emerging as an enabling technology for multimedia transmissions over wireless networks to support several groups of users with flexible quality of service (QoS) requirements. Although multicast has huge potential to push the limits of next generation communication systems; it is however one of the most challenging issues currently being addressed. In this survey, we explain multicast group formation and various forms of group rate determination approaches. We also provide a systematic review of recent channel-aware multicast scheduling and resource allocation (MSRA) techniques proposed for downlink multicast services in OFDMA based systems. We study these enabling algorithms, evaluate their core characteristics, limitations and classify them using multidimensional matrix. We cohesively review the algorithms in terms of their throughput maximization, fairness considerations, performance complexities, multi-antenna support, optimality and simplifying assumptions. We discuss existing standards employing multicasting and further highlight some potential research opportunities in multicast systems.

Data collection for research projects often requires a team of data collectors or enumerators. Large-scale surveys at household or community levels, and qualitative research with large numbers of enumerators, require well trained and supported enumerators to achieve the best quality data.

This Oxfam Research Guideline outlines how to recruit, train and work with enumerators. Enumerators are typically asked to administer survey questionnaires or collect information using digital or paper collection modes that are designed to capture information around a research or evaluation question. It is essential that they are well managed and trained: this guide explains key elements of the process and gives links to useful resources.

Recent trends of increasing core-count and memory/bandwidth-wall have led to major overhauls in chip architecture. In face of increasing cache capacity demands, researchers have now explored DRAM, which was conventionally considered  synonymous to main memory, for designing large last level caches. Efficient integration of DRAM caches in mainstream computing systems, however, also presents several challenges and several recent techniques have been proposed to address them. In this paper, we present a survey of techniques for architecting DRAM caches. Also, by classifying these techniques across several dimensions, we underscore their similarities and differences. We believe that this paper will be very helpful to researchers for gaining insights into the potential, tradeoffs and challenges of DRAM caches.

Dyscalculia is a learning difficulty faced by an individual. The purpose of this study is to investigate the level of problems of dyscalculia in primary schools. The researchers employed quantitative design to carry out the study. Survey method is used to collect the data. Descriptive and inferential statistics are used to analyze the survey data. A study was conducted with 381 primary schools Mathematics teachers in Malaysia. Means and standard deviation were used to analyze the level of problems of dyscalculia, whereas independent t-test were used to compare the level of problems of dyscalculia between school locations. The results show that the level of problems of dyscalculia is medium high (M=3.31, σ=0.97). On the other hand, the problem of dyscalculia in rural area is slightly higher (M=3.822, σ=0.697) than the urban area (M=3.717, σ=0.696). In short, there is no significant difference for the level of problems of dyscalculia between different school locations (p=0.147, p>0.05). This study is able to bring significances to Ministry of Education Malaysia, educators, teachers, and researchers. The result is useful to determine the allocations of funding and resources for the students with learning difficulties. It is also able to create the awareness of dyscalculia among the people. As a conclusion, interventions and diagnosis need to be carried out in order to improve the capabilities of these pupils to the maximum.

Depression is a mental illness that negatively affects how a person feels, thinks and acts. In this work, we used an online survey to ask 501 Filipino university-age students on symptoms commonly associated with depression: sadness or isolation, headaches or migraine, anxiety over everyday activities, moodiness or irritability or agitation, chronic fatigue, and low self-esteem or motivation. We learned that all respondents experience at least one symptom weekly. Most respondents (52.7%) experience all six symptoms weekly, with 1 to 3 days a week being the most common frequency. An overwhelming majority attributed such symptoms to academics (92.6%), followed by family (69.5%) and friends (49.5%). Lastly, most (41.9%-59.7%) believe they have around 1-3 friends with the same symptoms that they experience. The researchers are calling for an increased awareness of mental health issues and good practices, especially within homes and schools, to address the prevalence of depression in university-age Filipinos. The prevalence of Big Data and the Internet of Things within this particular demographic greatly enhances the ability of mental health professionals and researchers to detect and hopefully address the symptoms of depression.
