Museums have joined the yarn bomb craze and hosted a variety of projects of their own. Projects have ranged from small, outdoor bombings announcing the opening of a new exhibit to covering whole building facades, and  even an entire suspension bridge in Pittsburgh, PA. While these projects are whimsical and can gain a museum a lot of attention, they also make visitors see the museum in a new light and can be a way to reengage with the public.

Like with other forms of art and craft, the process of creation is just as important as the finished product. Participants not only enjoy the creative and artistic aspects of yarn bomb projects, they also like being part of a community and seeing their pieces as part of a larger work. Small or large, museum yarn bomb projects are not just about adding color to the museum exterior or grounds. They are about inviting the public to interact with the museum in a new way and creating a community that empowers people to be creative and work together for art.

Bu çalışma, Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam Üniversitesi Mühendislik - Mimarlık Fakültesi Tekstil Mühendisliği Bölümü’ndeki TM417 Bitirme Projesi-II dersi kapsamında “Polipropilen Halı İpliği Üreten Bcf Makinası ve İşlem Parametrelerinin İplik Özelliklerine Etkisinin İncelenmesi” konulu araştırmaya ait bilgileri ve yorumları içermektedir.
Bu projenin hazırlanmasında amaç polipropilen iplik üretimini gerçekleştiren makinenin incelenmesi ve makine işlem parametrelerinin iplik üzerindeki etkilerinin araştırılmasıdır.
Polipropilen şişirilmiş sürekli ipliğin(BCF), gün geçtikçe önemi artmakta ve farklı alanlarda kullanılmaktadır. Halı ipliği olarak kullanılmakta önemli bir yere sahip olan BCF ipliğin oluşturulmasında üretim koşulları göz önünde bulundurularak daha etkin bir yapı sağlanmaya çalışılır. Bu aşamada makine üretim parametrelerinin olumsuz etkilerini bilmek ve ortadan kaldırmak önem arz etmektedir.
Bu projede polipropilen ipliğin filament iplik üretimine ve bu ipliğin halı ipliği olarak kullanılması için yapılması şart olan tekstüre prosesine değinilmiştir.
Çalışma amaçlarını yerine getirmek doğrultusunda BCF iplik makinesinin üretim parametrelerine ve bu parametrelerin iplik üzerindeki etkisi incelenmiştir.
BCF ipliğin son kullanımı için gerekli olan büküm ve fiksaj proseslerine yer verişmiştir.
Yapılan inceleme sonucu BCF ipliği etkileyen birçok parametreye rastlanmış ve parametrelerinin düzenlenmesi konusunda bilgi verilmiştir.

Included among consumers are merchandisers of many types, from the wholesale textile manufacturer and merchant to the sales force in any retail store. Many industries, such as the automobile industry, are important consumers of textiles in various forms. Some other consumers are homemakers, dressmakers, interior decorators, and retail-store customers, as well as students who are studying for these and various other occupations and professions in which knowledge of textiles is of major importance.

The merchant, particularly, and all those engaged in the purchase and/or sale of goods must be thoroughly familiar with the merchandise they are handling if they wish to be successful. Only thorough knowledge will prevent the mistakes that are too often made in buying and selling.

A study of textiles will show, for example, why certain fabrics are more durable and therefore more serviceable for specific purposes. It will explain why certain fabrics make cool wearing apparel as well as give an impression of coolness when used as decoration. There is a large demand for high fiber volume fraction natural fiber reinforcement polymer composites. Among
many parameters affecting the mechanical properties of a composite, the fiber volume fraction is the most decisive
factor. The effect of fiber volume fraction on the physical and tensile properties of aligned natural fiber staple spun
yarn composites has been intensively investigated. However, there have been no direct studies on determining
the relation between composite fiber volume fraction and the yarn fiber volume fraction for fiber staple-spun yarn
composite. With the intention to improve the utilization of most fibers of the yarn cross section in the composite, the
variation of the yarn diameter in staple-spun yarn reinforced composite is investigated in this study. The analysis of
the yarn diameter indicates that it has a high variability that necessitates an increase in the composite diameter to
envelope all the yarn body leading to the reduction in its fiber volume fraction. A model for the determination of composite
fiber volume fraction was driven, grounded on the analysis of the yarn diameter variability along its length. An
equation has also been developed to calculate the diameter of the composite to cover majority of the yarn cross section

Abstrak: Twist merupakan parameter terpenting pada pembentukan benang, twist merupakan salah satu mutu yang dimiliki oleh suatu benang, sehingga kegiatan pengendalian mutu dan evaluasi tehadap Twist penting untuk dilakukan. Twist pada benang dapat mempengaruhi kekuatan benang, nomor benang dan diameter benang. Terdapat perbedaan twist antara hasil twist yang terukur pada alat ukur Tm (measured twist) dengan hasil twist yang disetting pada mesin Ta(adjusted machine twist). Besar perbedaan twist umumnya dirumuskan sebagai pada bab ini akan dibahas mengenai pemodelan twist serta hasil validasi eksperimennya.

This study aims to define the factors and interaction of factors which affect the average value and variability of the linear density of fancy yarns. A robust, fractional factorial design was used and was repeated five times. It was found that the core component, the effect component and the supply and delivery speeds affected 96.5 % of the linear density value. Further, the binder, the core, the supply and delivery speeds, and the false twist affected 95% of the linear density variability. The value of this study originates from quantifying the effect of high number of factors and interactions precisely.

In the last decades, the agro wastes in manufacturing different types of composites found the increasing utilization. The world statistics of the Wheat and rice straw indicates that about 710 million metric tons of Wheat straw and 670 million tons of rice straw are produced each year as the agricultural waste, beside the other cereal and forest waste. Therefore, it causes a huge environmental impact and this problem is growing each year. The production of plastic composites from agro waste materials is receiving the substantial consideration currently. In this work, we suggest to use the Wheat straw in its whole shape instead of shredded one for forming the green composite. The hybrid composite was formed of Wheat straw, flax fiber, and jute fabric. This study targets at the mechanical properties of Wheat straw. The results indicate the possibility of manufacturing of the thin plates and shafts from such hybrid combinations after the increasing the crushing force of Wheat straw.

This paper reports a simple, quick and reasonably accurate approach for measuring the bending rigidity of yarns. The beam method has been adapted and applied using a bending frame that has a fixed support and a simple support. The yarns are left to bend under the effect of their own weight. The accuracy and the precision of that bending frame are assessed over the time using an isotropic material and then compared against the ring-loop method and the KES-FB-2 pure bending tester. The findings show that the precision of this bending frame is acceptable. However, this bending frame gives at least 1.6 times greater values of bending rigidity than the KES-FB-2 pure bending tester, though the relationship between these two methods is linear and significant. Moreover, the spun yarns appear to have high levels of variability of the bending rigidity.
