Second Collection - Joseph Dawson
ABOUT THE BOOK
This book captures and reflects expressions of love, grief and the philosophy and way of life of the author.
It is obvious he has had some dalliance in love in his early years and this work is testament to that. The loss of his wife is poignantly expressed in many of his poems and by them the ember of his grief still smolder.
Not mindless of himself with respect to the world at large he finds moments to stop and ponder his place in the world and relations to the ‘family of man’. With a deep rooted sense of justice he remains steadfast in his beliefs and concern for others less fortunate than himself.
This book of verse should be an entertaining companion to love and romance in places cozily outlined in silhouette or under moonlit skies.

I have known Joseph Dawson for over a decade, and have in that time become accustomed to the apparent dichotomy of his personality. On the exterior, he often presents as unassuming, and to the point, a "no nonsense" kind of guy. However, within the same individual lies a love of poetic expression. His sometimes gruff exterior belies an acutely sensitive awareness of a wide array of passions, as well as the piercing pain of grief. In particular, this Second Edition of poems offers an illuminating glimpse of his efforts to work through the love and loss of his late wife. His poetic journey reminds us that even seemingly tough, stoic men can still experience a wide range and depth of feelings. Indeed, his poems beckon us to not only bear witness, but to also immerse ourselves in the feelings, reflections, and worldly view that he so poignantly and unabashedly shares.

A BOUQUET OF LOVE:
May this bouquet speaks loudly of my love
A garland to adorn the heart of my dove,
The red roses are barely the color of your lips
And your beauty stem beyond the folded tulips.
From a body and spirit up and doing
With a heart agog with love still pouring,
I wonder if my love for you is unrequited
For the thought of you make me excited.
To this gift the added dazzle thereon
Display the love within my heart,
And when these petals are faded and gone
My love will remain as from the start.
You are the
