In very blunt terms , the keto diet is a low-carb diet that aims to shift the way your body processes the food that you eat. Typically, your body thrives on the carbohydrates that you give it, and it uses those carbohydrates the boost up your blood sugar. Have you ever been sitting at your desk past two in the afternoon and it suddenly feels like your head is a cinder block? Blood sugar crashes can take all the wind out of your sails and they’re far more likely to occur when you’re allowing your body to get all of its energy from carbohydrates.

The aim of keto is to shift your body to running on healthy fats and a very specific amount of protein.
