THE BLACK MAN
The color of my skin, thoughts and actions is called black. Sometimes I am detested, rejected, humiliated because of being black. If I may ask, What is black?
It is a derogatory, dehumanizing or degrading term of reference; not just used to describe but to emasculate the man in me. It represents everything and anything negative, bad, wicked, corrupt and so on.
But, that is not me! Oh, no! That is not me!
The blackness in me is loud and proud!
History is enriched by my ancestors
Of lawyers, professors, doctors, inventors.
The list goes on like the River Nile
Overflowing the banks of civilization with knowledge, inspiration and sense of direction.
The chains no longer enslave but empower me to believe in myself and a power greater than myself. I am able to soar
