Hi, I am Susie Sunshine! Wow, where do I begin? I was born on the eighth day of May, and my mother always told the doctor I was roaring to get out, my arms and legs flinging about, a punch here a nub there. Mom always rubbed her belly and said that I was eager to come out and view the sunshine.

I was so eager to see the world that on the day of delivery I flew out just like a football. The doctor literally had to catch me as though the quarterback was saving the best pass for last, or so my mother says. Fortunately my father was not in the delivery room, or he may have fainted.

We were not rich by any means, but I thought we were. We lived in a small town called Sweet Water in Pennsylvania, where the Cherokee Indians once roamed. Our town was special. Our family was lower middle class and could not buy the fancy Mercedes, BMWs, and other vehicles displayed in the town. However, we were able to take advantage of the culture, talent, and events the town attracts. Every year the Sweetwater Academy and local high schools throw their rendition of a musical, and our family never missed one. They were excellent, and their director was also my dance instructor. I could not have picked a better instructor as Mr. Melody.

Our home was a small Ryan home that was built around a nice piece of property. We had a great backyard for a pool, but my parents never got one. A pool was not necessary because we belonged to the local YMCA and were able to swim in the Y’s Olympic-size pool.

Mom stayed at home to raise all of us kids. Four in all. It was a blessing
