Don't forget to VOTE Tuesday, November 4,

2014. Polls are open 7:00 am to 8:00 pm.

Non-Homestead Millage Renewal
This is a renewal of a millage approved by the voters in
1995 for 20 years. It has been levied every year since
then. The district has voter approval to levy 18 mills on
Non-Homestead property in 2014 but it expires this
year. This is not a new tax and does not affect a
property owner's primary residence. The Non-
Homestead Millage is required by Proposal A, the
state's school funding structure, in order for Grand
Ledge Public Schools to receive its minimum per pupil
foundation allowance from the state. In order to
maintain the state minimum funding, the voters have to
approve this periodically.
The revenue generated from the 18 Non-Homestead
mills equals almost $7 million, or 16% of the district's
operating budget each year. If this millage renewal
does not pass, the state will NOT replace the lost
funding and Grand Ledge Public Schools will be forced
to substantially reduce, and/or eliminate, programs and
services to offset the funding loss.

Please Vote on November 4th.

For complete details on the proposal, visit our Elections
page under the Board of Education on our website:
www.glcomets.net.

FUNDRAISER FOR LOCAL FAMILY
If you have been wondering about all of the blue
ribbons tied around tree trunks in our beautiful town
this is the reason. One of our little Grand Ledge
buddies, four-year-old Lucas, is going through
treatments for stage four neuroblastoma after being
diagnosed in July. On Sunday, October 19, there will be
a Wine & Canvas Fundraiser to help out his family with
moral and financial support. The class will be held at
Grand Ledge Cancun Mexican Grill from 12 - 3pm. If you
would like to participate, register at wineandcanvas.com.
Click on the Lansing location and then on the calendar.
The cost is $40 for the class, a portion of which will be
donated directly to the family. It will be a great time
and show of support for the Fighting League of Lucas!
We hope to get a great turn out for the Fredericks
family. You are also welcome to drop in and make a
donation!
