Goals:
To become familiar with the three domain system of classification.
To relate it to the traditional six kingdom system to the three domain system of classification in terms of sequence and grouping.
To develop a repertoire of example organisms from each kingdom, understanding their major characteristics and unique adaptations
as they relate to evolutionary theory.
Overall Procedure:
Research each Kingdom
Determine the most important facts that you need to know about the organisms in the kingdom. Make sure to keep in mind the
special characteristics that are unique to each kingdom. Make a list of these facts (minimum 5)
You may use your textbook, notes, internet sites, etc. to assist in your research.
Identify a certain number organisms (listed on the rubric) that represent the characteristics of the kingdom. For each of the
representative organisms, obtain the following information:
i. scientific name
ii. facts about the organism
iii. a picture of the organism.
Organize the information into a scrapbook page (2 pages maximum per kingdom!) and add it to your scrapbook.
YOU MUST CITE ALL OF YOUR SOURCES, THIS INCLUDES PICTURES!!! FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN A ZERO!!!!
(google is NOT a listed source! Nor is ask.com)

We will work on this in class each day, but if not completed in class you are expected to complete on your own.
Overall:
So basically you are making a scrapbook (can be digital of course!) and you must have a
table of contents, accurate information IN YOUR OWN WORDS NO COPY AND
PASTING, the common organisms from each kingdom and pictures and references. You
have artistic license of course in how you wish to put this together. It can be a simple
scrapbook or a complex scrapbook and it can be digital and go further with technology.
It CANNOT be handwritten or stapled together construction paper, etc.
It is DUE on or before the due date givenEVEN IF YOU ARE NOT IN CLASS!
