    Math We are almost done with Topic 11.

    We have learned
    how to multiply and divide fractions. There will be a Topic 11
    test coming up next week.

    Reading

    We will read Exploding Ants. Animals live in places, and use their bodies in ways that people find unusual or
    even disgusting. We will read about a soldier ant that explodes
    if they are attacked, spraying a deadly chemical on the attacker.

    GrammarWe studying comma use next week.


    Writing We are having an Amazing Postcard Race.

    We
    have written letters to all 50 states and are hoping for a reply
    back. We are also working on our state reports. 10 notecards
    will be due next Friday.

    Spelling This weeks words are homophones.

    *********Science Fair packets went home. It is a great opportunity to learn and also in-

    crease your science grade by a whole letter grade. Judging will be on February 5th.
    Valentines Day is around the corner. Send to your friends a special Valentines Day carnation or a small
    bouquet. Parents, send a Valentines Day flower and greeting to your child at school as a special treat.
    Complete the form sent home which will be attached to the flower/bouquet when delivered. Return the form
    with money by Friday, February 11. Checks can be made out to Triton Elementary school. All proceeds benefit
    5th grades trip to Camp Amigo. Flowers will arrive and be distributed on Friday, February 12 Colors vary and
    the supply is limited!!
