1- Reflection (science lesson)

The first time I tough I in Al Ansar international school was a week before I taught the second lesson.
The first lesson was English and the other one is science. Before I taught science lesson, I went to my
(MST) and asked her about a topic that I have to teach. She gave the book and told me to pick a
lesson that I feel comfortable with. So I pick animal theme. I also choose four different activities for
this lesson. And I also did something that children have never done which is the craft work. The craft
activity was about two different animals and each child has to pick one and do it. The students liked
this activity the most and they asked me to create both animals.
I planned the activities for a student I got used to and taught all ready before. But the school
changed the schedule this day without informing me and I missed the class. So my (MST) told me to
teach the lesson with another section that I never met. But I told her its fine I will teach them the
lesson.
When I stepped in the classroom, the students were very noisy and they were running around the
classroom and it was hard for me to control them because I dont know their names. So I raised my
voice and counted one to five in order to set in their seats.
While I was doing the activities with the student, I planned that the student are going to move from
one table to another to do more than one activity. I was about to clap my hands so the children
could change their places. My (MST) intervene and told me your will create a mess in the classroom
if you did this. So I didnt do it. But I moved the activity materials to another table so everybody will
get a chance to do all the activities.
The last activity is the fun one which is the craft. I planned that each one is going to do his own
animal and I provide lots of materials that suffice everyone, but my (MST) came to me again and told
me you will create a big mess and you will lose the management. And she preferred to do one
animal in each group.
After I fished teaching the teacher came to give her feedback. She told everything w as well
organized and activities were very nice. Then I told her that these activities would be even better if
we let each student to do his own animal to see how creative the student are and might also
discover a talented student through this activity.
One of the main EYFS Features is that they have different areas in the classroom and that was not
existed in any of the classroom. I think the reason might be because the classrooms were very tight.
One of the curriculum Features also is the outdoor areas. And that did not exist at all. Students are
stuck in the classroom for almost all the day. in my teaching I tried as much as possible to create a
creative environment for the student to learn in one hand and to have fun on the other hand.

Reflection (English lesson)

I have been in Al Ansar international school for teaching practice this semester which follow EYFS
curriculum. EYFS is a very creative curriculum that gives each teacher everything she need to create
her own her own stimulating and engaging early years environment. Through the first two weeks of
observation I did in the school. I observed that students are not learning through play at all which I
totally dislike. These young children are actually working very hard, I have been in the school f or 5
weeks and all I saw was explanation from the teacher, then she gives them their books to do tasks.
In these five weeks of teaching practice, I never saw a creative activity for the student. EYFS
curriculum includes 7 different areas of learning in the classroom, and these areas were not excited
in the classroom.
The first lesson that I taught was English and I get to teach word that include (Sh) in it like: shark,
shampoo, shower and so on. I prepared my lesson plan all the activities a couple of day before I get
teach. I prepared a lesson plan that include four different activities, these activities was prepared for
3 different levels: low, medium and high. These things that I did and the activities that I planned
were totally and dramatically different from what my mentor school teacher (MST) usually dose. Its
also widely different from what the student get used to.
I stared teaching this lesson by welcoming and changing the date of the day as I always do before
teaching any lesson. At this point everything was normal. Nothing was different from what the
students get used to. After that I read a story that most of the words in it include (Sh) in it. I ask the
student later to rephrase the story for me to check if they get the story and understand its main
concept. The students were very clever that they recognize the lesson I will be teaching them, and
that happened through the story. Then I did mind mapping on the board. After I explained the lesson
and make sure they get it. I present the four different activities that they will be doing which are
unlike what they usually do. The students were excited and happy about the activities. They like the
activity that includes sand in it and they have to dig and search for pictures in it the most. When I
saw that the student like all the activities, I let them pass through all the groups and do all the
activities, so each child did each activity.
After I finished teaching the lesson. I sat with my (MST), and she gave her feedback. She told me that
my activities were entertainment and good, she also liked it because the student enjoyed it so much.
But she told that the students need to do a task from the book that I did not do with them. My (MST)
liked everything I did, and said she would love to prepare diff erent areas in the classroom, but she
couldnt because the classroom is very tight. She also said that they have a long curriculum to finish
and there is no enough time to do that.

Reflection (my favourite job):

Before teaching any lesson I go to my mentor school teacher and ask her about any lesson she
suggests me to teach for the student. As usual a week before I get to teach this lesson I ask my
teacher to give a topic to any lesson she would like me to teach. She told me to teach a lesson about
my favourite job. Since she told me the topic I started thinking about activities for the student. A lot
came to my mind but some of them didnt suit their age so I cancel them. Two days after I showed
the teacher my lesson plan to make sure everything is good. The teacher likes the planning and the
introduction but she told me to do some changes on the activities. She told me that I have to
prepare a lot more simple activities like worksheets and things they do with papers on their groups.
So I changed it. The day I get to teach the lesson was good, I was I bit nervous at the beginning but
everything went good since I started teaching. Some children were noisy, and that was not a big
deal because I always face that type of student during my teaching practice (TP). Counting 1 to 5
always works with them; it even works every single time. During planning the lesson, I really wanted
some kind of movement activity but I couldnt because the classroom is very tight and couldnt do
that. I was a bit nervous of the fact that I would finish the lesson very quickly and then I could do
anything, but it was fine some low level student took a bit extra time on their worksheet and that
kin of saved me.

Reflection (Counting by tens):

I think for me, the hardest teaching lesson is math, I always get nervous when I teach math. When I
told my MST that I have to teach math and she gave me this lesson I panic. And thought counting
by 10th is easy, but since I started planning my lesson plan I search for a lot of activities but it was
hard for find activities that children could have fun with it. Almost all the activities were worksheets
and thats it.
I finish my lesson plan and prepare everything I will be using for my lesson like the presentation and
the materials I will be using and everything. Everything about the lesson was prepared and
organized. But I was so nervous of how I going to start teaching the lesson.
I started teaching the lesson by telling a story of a girl who came and picked ten apples and then
other girl who also came and picked 20 apples and so on.
The children listen to the story and they liked it, I told them later to retell the story and get so
excited. All of them wanted to say it again. So I picked some student randomly and retell it.
Then I let them do the activities and the lesson went perfect. After I finished the lesson my teacher
came to give her feedback about the lesson and what was good and what was not. And I always like
the feedback because it improves me and makes me a better teacher, and also make me learn from
my mistakes and I always lesson to what my MST said and apply it later with other lessons

Reflection (The four seasons):

When I went to mu mentor school teacher and she gave this lesson I was very happy because the
lesson is so great and I remember when I was in kindergarten this lesson was my favorited. And the
first activity came to my mind was fitting the clothes with it seasons. I still remember this activity
because it was the best one.
When I planned for this lesson I was so excited and I finished very quickly and faster than I ever
lesson plans I have ever did before because since the teacher gave me the topic everything came to
my mind and I finished quicker than usual.
I showed the lesson plan to my teacher and she liked it very much. And then I started preparing the
activities for the children.
The day that I get to present I wasnt nervous at all but I was super exited. Everything was well
organized and ready.
I started teaching the lesson and it was very nice and the children understood it very well. And
observe that when they were doing the activities, I did not help the student at all and they get to the
activities by them self with any one help.

Reflection (the five senses):

The five senses is an easy lesson to plan as the season lesson. Planning it was not hard at all. The
activities didnt take a long time to think of. And as I did before teaching any lesson I finished my
lesson plan a days before I get to teach the lesson.
Preparing the activities was on the other day after I finished the lesson plan. And the then after one
day I taught the lesson and it was a lot of fun. This lesson was my last one to teach, so I brought a
candy for those students who were active during teaching the lesson during the circle time.
During teaching the lesson every one recognize the flower that I brought and all of them wanted to
smell it and make a noise and that was a bit mess. So I told them to be quiet and I will pass the
flower among each one to smell it. After each one smells the flower I asked them what senses we
used with this flower and if there is more than one tell me. The students were very active. All of
them answer me which was very good, I understood in this stage that they understood the lesson.
