Methodist Men
meets every second
Sunday at 7:30 am
with the men of
Central UMC.
The men will man a
Dunking Booth at
the Crazy Water
Festival Oct. 8th. We
need anyone who is
available that day to
help. Remember, it is
a fun, exciting, and
sometimes wet place
to be during the
festival!

This months
meeting is at Central
the day after the
festival on Oct. 9th.
Come join us for a
program, fellowship
and a full breakfast!

Our 2nd Annual MINERAL WELLS IDOL begins @ 6 pm

Saturday, Oct. 1st, on Whites parking lot SE of the church.
The show is going to be bigger and better than last year! We
have more contestants, more prizes, even more entertainment.
All proceeds go to Back Pack Buddies, an FUMC ministry to
feed at-risk school children on the weekends. Last year we
raised $5,000. Lets see if we can double it this year!
Our Master of Ceremonies will again be our own Adam
Hull. Judges are local celebrity Ike Mercer; last years Mineral
Wells Idol, K Dahl; and our own master of music, Don
Owens. Ike will open the evening for us and K will sing during
the intermission while the finalists are being determined.
Concessions will be available including Jason Nesmiths
barbecue sandwiches, along with chips, drinks, cookies,
popcorn, etc., so plan to eat with us as well.
Admission is by donation at the gate. Votes are counted by
donations to your favorite contestants jar so dont forget to
bring your dollars! This is an outdoor event so bring your own
lawn chairs, too, for comfort. If you forget, we will have folding
chairs you can RENT for $1 each. (Remember, its a
fundraiser!)
The following folks are a few of the contestants: Dinah Lewis,
Marissa Mondragon, Sierra Fenley, Shannon Drake, Michael
Robinson, McKenzie Lawhon, Tiffany Key, Anita Presser,
Marie Mazur, Bruce Ethridge, Amanda Reddin, Joseph Blue,
and Tanna Goodin.
We are looking forward to a wonderful evening of
entertainment, good food, and helping this great mission of
our church. We sincerely hope to see every one of you there
Saturday night! BRING FRIENDS!!
We will begin set up at 3 pm Saturday. If you can help, we
would love to see you there!

After Mineral Wells Idol, its a mad dash

to the next big event the Crazy Water
Festival that celebrates our communitys
renowned mineral water, also known as
crazy water.
The 37th annual festival will run from 9
am to 5 pm Saturday, October 8th, in the
area around the Famous Water Company,
and features street art, a childrens area,
LIVE music (including our own Mineral
Wells Idol winner), craft and food vendors,
as well as several other events scheduled
around it. Gate and childrens area
proceeds also help raise funds for our
BackPack Buddies ministry.
The festival is a community-organized
event and our church is responsible for
manning the six entrance gates and the
childrens play area so we need LOTS of
volunteers to cover everything.
The Methodist Men also sponsor a
dunking booth and they need volunteers
as well.

Leadership Meetings
Our Leadership Teams will begin meeting
monthly, every third Sunday, using the
following schedule:

4:30p Staff Parish Relations (as

needed)
5:00p Trustees
5:45p Finance
6:30p Administrative Board
This months meetings will be Sunday,
October 16th.

Check the sign-up sheet schedule on

the bulletin board outside the church
office to see where you can donate a
couple of hours.
We also need help setting up the
childrens area beginning at 3:30 pm
Friday evening, Oct. 7th.
An added bonus of working at the
childrens area is listening to the live
music on stage nearby. Bring a lawn
chair and enjoy helping our church and
community.

Sunday Services Live Online

We have so many annual events in

October, but our favorite may just be the
last one Trunk or Treat on the last
Wednesday in October as our featured
WOW event.
This years Trunk or Treat will be
Wednesday, Oct. 26th beginning at 5:30
pm in the east parking lot. We will serve
hotdogs, chips, and drinks with games,
activities, surprises, and, of course, lots of
candy!
We encourage people to decorate a
vehicle and offer a game out of the trunk of
a car or the bed of a pickup with candy for
the kids.
Win prizes for best vehicle decorations.
Costume contests for all age groups.
If you need help organizing a game or
activity, please see or call Vicki Gregory at
(940-452-0810).
Please invite neighbors, friends,
coworkers, etc. Let's plan on filling or
overflowing that parking lot. Its always a
good time.

Sept. 11 106 (3 visitors)
Sept. 18 102 (8 visitors)
Sept. 25 83(9 visitors)
Please help us by recording your attendance in our
attendance booklets on each pew. If you haven't been
recording your attendance, please do so. It really
helps us keep a record of our church's attendance.
Parents, please add your children's names, as well,
even if they go to the nursery during the morning
service. Their attendance needs to be counted, too.
We would also ask the choir to fill out an attendance
form, too. A booklet will be placed in the first chair of
the first row of the choir. Thanks again for your help.
God Bless,
Bata Boyd

Letter from the Pastor

This month we will be kicking off our
annual stewardship drive. I Love My
Church we be a five week series about
the basics of belonging to a local
congregation that covers the five major
area of membership in our congregation:
prayers, presence, gifts, service and
witness. This would be a great series to
invite some friends to that might be
wondering what church is all about.
Well be kicking things off Sunday,
October 16th in worship and concluding
with a commitment Sunday on
November 13th. I hope youll join us as
we explore all the reasons that I love my
church.
Pastor Eric

Jesus Sings!
Scripture tells us that after the Last
Supper, Jesus and the disciples sang a
hymn. Often I have wondered what
kind of hymn Jesus would sing? Did
Jesus ever walk around and have a
catchy tune in his head? Did he clap
his hands and tap his feet when he
sang? Did he have a favorite? What
was his least favorite hymn?
Some religious scholars suggest they
sang the Hebrew Hallel, which is a
prayer that recites Psalms 113118. Chapter 116 begins, " I love that
the Lord hears my voice and my
requests. Because He inclines His ear
to me, I will praise Him all of my
days."
What an awesome truth in which to
sing! The Hubble space telescope
shows us a tiny fraction of Gods
creation, yet God hears MY voice. He
has "focused hearing," like that of a
mother that can distinguish the
sounds of her own child crying over
the sounds of other babies.
When we sing our hymns to God, he
hears us. I know that He, and the
heavenly chorus of angels sing about
us! If you're not singing to the Lord
now, it's time to get started, because
we are going to be singing in Heaven!
No auditions ever, so no need to be
scared! Lots of seats available!
Practice is Wednesdays @ 7 pm.
Blessings, Don
