    Case study: Project ECW422 (Sep 2016 March 2017)

    Choose one topic in fluid mechanics and relate it with the application of the topic in order to
    solve complex engineering problems related to water supply and distribution systems.

    Each group may choose one of the topics related to water supply and distribution systems
    as listed below:

    1. Drainage system
    2. Attenuation of surface water for city centre
    3. Sea and river (flood) defences
    4. Water distribution/sewerage (sanitation) networks
    5. Hydraulic design of water/sewage treatment works
    6. Dams
    7. Irrigation
    8. Pumps and Turbines
    9. Water retaining structures
    10. Bridge piers in rivers

    Report should be in forms of video presentation.

    The total marks for this case study project is 30 marks. The outcomes to be tested by this
    project include:

    1. The groups ability to apply knowledge on selected topic in fluid mechanics


    related to water supply and distribution system (10 marks)
    2. The groups ability to identify and suggest solution for solving complex
    engineering problems related to water supply and distribution system (10
    marks)
    3. Your communications skills and participation during the project presentation
    and discussion will be assessed individually (10 marks)
