Q 2. Member forces are not imported from midas Gen. Only the member size are imported.
A When design or checking has been performed in midas Gen, the member forces can be imported in Design+.
Depending on the existence of design results and rebar input data, the data to be imported is changed.
[Applicable member type: RC - Beam/ Column/ Shear Wall/ Batch Wall, Steel - Beam/ Column]
Following data can be imported when design or checking has not been performed:
Member Name/ Material Properties/ Section Shape/ Section Size

2) When design has been performed, and rebar data has not been assigned in midas Gen
When member design has been performed in midas Gen, the member forces and the rebar data calculated during the design
will be exported to Design+.
3) When design/checking has been performed, and rebar data has been assigned in midas Gen
When code checking has been performed with assigned rebar data, the member forces with the assigned rebar data will be
exported to Design+.
Data to be imported
In case of Footing, Base Plate and Bolt Connection, the design member force can be imported by perform an analysis.

Q 5. Design member forces imported from midas Gen are changed after Design/Checking in Base Plate module.
A During Design/Checking of Base Plate, the program automatically find the most critical load combination among 6
different load combinations imported from midas Gen.
When importing a node for base plate design, 6 different load combinations which contain maximum and minimum member
forces of axial, major moment, and minor moment respectively are imported. Once the load combinations are imported, the
design force shown in the Force filed corresponds to the 1st load combination which contains maximum axial force. After
perform base plate design or checking, the program will find the most critical load combination and that design forces will be
shown in the Force field. Even though the displayed forces are changed in the dialog box, the program internally verify all the
load combinations during design/checking.

Q 7. Why wall design result in Design+ is different from that of midas Gen?
A Wall design results will be different if design method is differently defined between midas Gen and Design+.
[Design+]
[midas Gen]
Wall design method is classified based on the end rebar assignment method.
- Method 1 : Place the rebars at equal intervals over the entire wall length (no end rebars)
- Method 2 : Assuming that the wall is reinforced uniformly at an equal spacing over the entire length of the wall, determine
additionally required rebars, then place the rebars at the ends and the center part.
- Method 3 : Assuming that the vertical rebars at both ends of the wall resist all the axial force (Pu) and the bending moment
(Mu), determine the required reinforcing steel for the shear force resisted by the remaining part.
- Method 4 : Identical to Method-2 and end rebars placed from 2EA

Q 8. How to modify the default setting of member name for the imported member?
A Format of imported member name can be specified by the user in Link Option dialog box.
From the main menu, select Link > Link Option or click [Option] button in Add New Member field. Following data can be used
to make the format of member name.
1) %S : Name of section properties
2) %N : Number of selected nodes or members
3) %F : Story name (If story data does not exist, it will be displayed as NonF.)
4) %M : Name of material properties
For example, if Format String is specified as %F%S(Fck=%M, %N), the imported member name can be 1C1(Fck=C24, 10).
When Remove character in Story Name option is checked on, specified character will be removed in the member name.
1) Above Ground Level
Specify the character which needs to be removed in the member name. By default, F/ FL/ ST are predefined, and the user can
directly enter the desired character.
2) Below Ground Level
Specify the character which needs to be removed in the member name. By default, B/ ST are predefined, and the user can
directly enter the desired character. In case of basement floor, - sign will be additionally entered in front of the floor
information.
