One Year In!!

This is our first AGM and what are great first 12 months for the club, over this year we have established a club, supported
teams to compete in National Championships, South Island Secondary Schools, South Island Junior Secondary School, 2 x Tri
series tournaments and hosted our own tournament. Coming up in the next month, we have a team traveling to Auckland
to compete in the Olympic Hopefuls Tournament; this is basically an Under 12 National Tournament. We also have teams
traveling to Wellington to competing in the Nippers cup. The club has developed a financial base that will help support
future teams. We have coaches and referees wearing club tops, most players are now wearing club togs, and more people
are asking if they can purchase them. We have a number of referees, that have completed they C grading and are now
officiating games, well done to everyone.
Marlborough has a small population base compared to other clubs, which means that we as a club should co-ordinate all
Water Polo activities in Marlborough so everyone has a clear idea where and when teams are playing and training and what
tournaments the teams will be competing in during the year. One of the new committees first priorities should be to
establish a calendar of events that focus the clubs activities toward certain events. This needs to take into account the
strength our players age groups, sometimes we may have to accept that we just dont have the depth in some age groups. A
huge thank you to all the committee and all the people that have made this happen; for the new committee and the club in
general now the hard work really starts in growing the club and continuing the momentum. Unfortunately there wasnt a
great turnout at the AGM, so over the next month or so members of the committee may be shoulder tapping some people
to help out, dont be afraid to put your hand up and help out, yes it can be hard work at times but the rewards from helping
out are great.

New Training
The new training seems to be working well with less numbers in each group so better training can be done. There is still
room for some more people to turn up and attend training, times are: Under 12/new to 2mt grade -5pm-5.45pm, under 14s
5.45pm 6.45pm, under 16s and over 6.45pm-7.45pm. Please be ready to start training on time.
Website
James Hammond has got the new club website up and running and looking
great this combined with the clubs facebook page will make getting
information out to members and promoting water polo to the wider
community. Please share our face book page with as many people as you can.
