PART-A

1. If N resistors are connected in parallel with R. Find the equivalent


resistance.
2. Define peak factor and form factor.
3. What is the function of brush and commutator in a DC machine?
4. Give the expression of synchronous speed and define each term.
5. What is the back emf of DC motor at standstill? Why?
6. Define regulation of a transformer.

1. a) State and explain Maximum power transfer theorem. (5M)


b) Using nodal analysis, determine node voltages v1 and v2 for the circuit
shown in fig 2. (7M)

of 0.5 and the corresponding values for the secondary terminal voltage

5. a) Derive torque equation of 3 induction motor under running condition.

b)what is rotor frequency of induction motor? A 4 pole, 3 induction motor
operates from a supply whose frequency is 50Hz.Calculate the speed of the
