I. TITLE: SEMINAR WORKSHOP FOR TEACHERS OF BDNHS

ON ACTION RESEARCH

II. Date: October 26-28, 2015

III. Site/Venue: Bado Dangwa National High School

IV. Participants: Teachers of Bado Dangwa National High School and School Head

V. Source of Funds: Registration/Donations

VI. Background/Rationale:

We are now in the environment of computer generation. Children of today are more

adept in the use of technology. In fact, most people nowadays rely on the use of computers to

make their works faster. Hence, teacher must also use these technologies in order to achieve

effective classroom instructions. It is also imperative that teachers know how to operate

computers in order to achieve accurate grades, encoded reports and computerized

instructional materials for their daily teaching.

Microsoft Excel helps us to make our calculations faster and we can draw conclusions

faster by making graphs, pie charts. The layout of Rows and Columns makes it very useful

for computing grades and recording scores. The columns can be summed for a total or added

to other columns. The data can be sorted easily. This is useful for lists of addresses and other

data banks. Spreadsheets can be used in many fun and interesting ways. Teachers can benefit

from learning the advantages of using Excel spread sheeets in the classroom.

Unfortunately, some of the teachers of Bado Dangwa National High School need to

refresh their knowledge and skill with the use of the technology, thus the proponent proposed

this seminar workshop in order to bring forward technology at its best.

The booming of technology is like a virus. It spreads fast. Children at present have a

broad knowledge on the different technologies like the computer. Most people nowadays

during seminars and even classroom instructions make use of computers and LCD projectors

using power point presentation. Thus, make the seminar or classroom instruction better and

more beautiful due to visual presentation.

Using power point presentation in seminars or in classroom instructions is very

important. Power point is just like the name says a powerful tool for learning. It is basically

electronic slides where a person can embed files such as texts, music, pictures, diagram, or

whatever else you like. The benefit is that you are engaging students not just through words

but also through visuals. Some students learn better by hearing, but other students learn better

by seeing. So, immediately you can see the benefits of engaging students through the visual

means. Also, it provides for some excitement in that it breaks down the daily routine of

lectures.

Power point presentation combines audio visual both aspects, making it easier to

understand for audience. Even the normal teaching or training becomes interactive by just

using presentations in lectures. These days school, colleges and institutions are providing

tailor made presentations to students for different topics I syllabus of study. That makes

learning easier and interactive for students. Microsoft power point has many functions. It can

present the lessons clearly and attract more students to listen because of the effects instead of

using white board or chalkboard. In addition, power point is much more convenient since you

just need to click the mouse or set time for each slide to view the lessons/topic of the day.

Thus, learning how to create power point presentation is very much needed.

In contrary, some Bado Dangwa National High School School teachers do not know

how to use the Microsoft Power Point Presentation. They are very eager and want to learn
how to make Power Point presentations in conducting seminar and classroom instructions

purposes. Thus, the proponents come up with the Seminar-Workshop in Computer Literacy.
