Using Procomm Plus to upload and download data

Hard key Hard keys are located to the right of the display.
Soft key Soft keys are located under the display.

Warning - The data listed on these sheets are set up to match our laptops. Use this data only as a guide.

Checking the CNC setup for Procomm Plus :

TOOL
1 Press the PARAM key.

2 Press the MENU key until the I/O PAR key appears.

3 Press the I/O PAR key.

4 Press the > (next page) key. Until DEV. 1 is shown at the top of the display.
This should be page 3. ( the page number is found in the upper right-hand corner.)

To move between pages us the < (prev page) and > (next page) keys.

5 Check the data for each of the following parameters:

These should be found at the bottom of the Procomm Plus screen.

Transferring data from the CNC to the Laptop

1 Connect the Procomm cable.

2 Turn on the Edit key on your control. Check for computer and CNC setup for Procomm Plus (See Page 1)

NOTE : To download or upload the ladder you must first stop the PLC. ( See page 7 )
You must have the Edit on before you stop the PLC.

For ALL1, ALL2, ALL3 complete backup download, you must have
EDIT ON, and stop the PLC, then change BASE PARAMETER 1060 by
*****PRESS IN E-STOP BEFORE TURNING OFF PLC*****

TOOL
A Press the PARAM key.

B Press the MENU key until the Setup key appears.

C Press the Setup key.

D Press the Y key and then the INPUT

E Press the > (next page) key. Until 1060 is shown on the display.

F Enter (1060) DATA(64) (S) and Press INPUT Two Times.

DIAG
3 Press the IN/OUT key.

4 Press the MENU key until the OUTPUT key appears.

5 Press the OUTPUT key.

Along the bottom of the CNC display should be a line that looks like the following :

#( ) DATA ( )( )

6 Check the #12 DEVICE NO. It should be a 1 (PRO).


You can find this data in the upper righthand corner of the display. It is shown as : # 12 DEVICE NO.

If it is not a 1 do the following :


A) Type in the following : # ( 12 ) DATA ( 1)( )
B) Press the INPUT key.

7 Set up Procomm Plus to receive data and give it a file name. example : test.pro or test.par or test.lad
Note : After typing in a file name you must hit save. Then Procomm Plus is ready to receive.

8 According to what Data you want to output type in the following :

For NC programs # ( 1 ) DATA ( ALL ) ( )


For Parameters # ( 3 ) DATA ( )( )
For ladder # ( 99 ) DATA ( 250 ) ( )
For ladder and messages # ( 99 ) DATA ( ALL3 ) ( )
For macros # ( 30 ) DATA ( ALL ) ( )
For a complete backup
Parameters w/ options # ( 99 ) DATA ( ALL1 ) ( )
Offsets # ( 99 ) DATA ( ALL2 ) ( )
Ladder # ( 99 ) DATA ( ALL3 ) ( )

9 Press the INPUT key.

10 You should see the CNC display showing the data being outputted.

When it is done the CNC display will show " DATA OUT COMPLETE "

11 On the Procomm Plus screen click the save. The file is now saved

Transferring data from the Laptop to the CNC for CNC's already setup

1 Connect the Procomm cable.

2 Turn on the Edit key on your control. Check for computer and CNC setup for Procomm Plus (See Page 1)

NOTE : To download or upload the ladder you must first stop the PLC. ( See page 7 )
You must have the Edit on before you stop the PLC.

DIAG
3 Press the IN/OUT key.

4 Press the MENU key until the INPUT key appears.

5 Press the INPUT key.

Along the bottom of the CNC display should be a line that looks like the following :

#( ) DATA ( )( )

6 Check the #12 DEVICE NO. It should be a 1 (PRO).


You can find this data in the upper righthand corner of the display. It is shown as : # 12 DEVICE NO.

If it is not a 1 do the following :


A) Type in the following : # ( 12 ) DATA ( 1)( )
B) Press the INPUT key.

7 According to what Data you want to receive type in the following :

For NC programs # ( 1 ) DATA ( 9999 ) ( )


For Parameters # ( 3 ) DATA ( )( )
For ladder and messages # ( 99 ) DATA ( )( )
For a complete restore, Use Complete Restore upload Pocedure
Parameters w/ options # ( 99 ) DATA ( )( ) ALL1
Offsets # ( 99 ) DATA ( )( ) ALL2
Ladder # ( 99 ) DATA ( )( ) ALL3

Do not press the INPUT key yet.

Note : If you try to receive an NC program that already exist you will get an alarm

8 Set up the Laptop to send the data. You must choose the file you want to send.
You send by double clicking the file you want.

Do not send the file yet.

9 Press the INPUT key.

10 Send the data from the Laptop.

You only have 10 seconds to start sending the data after you hit the INPUT key.

11 When it is done the CNC will show " DATA IN COMPLETE "

12 Power off or restart the PLC.

7 Complete Restore
1 Connect the Procomm cable.

2 Turn on the Edit key on your control. Check for computer and CNC setup for Procomm Plus (See Page 1)

You must have the Edit on before you stop the PLC.

For Complete Restore you must change BASE PARAMETER 1060 by


Turn EDIT ON, and stop the PLC

TOOL
A Press the PARAM key.

B Press the MENU key until the Setup key appears.

C Press the Setup key.

D Press the Y key and then the INPUT

E Press the > (next page) key. Until 1060 is shown on the display.

F Enter (1060) DATA(64) (S) and Press INPUT Two Times.

DIAG
3 Press the IN/OUT key.

4 Press the MENU key until the INPUT key appears.

5 Press the INPUT key.

7 Must Upload ALL1 command From the Computer

8 Set up the Laptop to send the data. You must choose the file you want to send.
You send by double clicking the file you want.
Do not send the file yet.

9 Type in the following : # ( 99 ) DATA ( )( )

10 Press the INPUT key.

10 Send the ALL1 data from the Laptop.


You only have 10 seconds to start sending the data after you hit the INPUT key.

11 When it is done the CNC will show " DATA IN COMPLETE "

12 Power off the CNC off and back on

13 Reset up the Base Parameter 1060 see above on how to get there

A Enter (1060) DATA( 1) ( ) and Press INPUT
B The following message will be displayed "Standard parameter setting? (Y/N)"
Type in N and press INPUT
You Will see the following #(1060) DATA(1 ) (N)
C The following message will be displayed "Format? (Y/N)"
Type in Y and press INPUT
You Will see the following #(1060) DATA(1 ) (Y)
After the Y is Inputted , "Format Is Complete" appears on the screen

14 Check the Procomm plus I/O PAR setup from page one

DIAG
15 Press the IN/OUT key.

16 Press the MENU key until the INPUT key appears.

17 Press the INPUT key.

Along the bottom of the CNC display should be a line that looks like the following :

#( ) DATA ( )( )

18 Check the #12 DEVICE NO. It should be a 1 (PRO). If not see Above procedure

19 According to what Data you want to receive type in the following :


Upload ALL1,ALL2, ALL3, Programs, and Parameters

Parameters w/ options # ( 99 ) DATA ( )( ) Upload ALL1


Offsets # ( 99 ) DATA ( )( ) Upload ALL2
Ladder # ( 99 ) DATA ( )( ) Upload ALL3
For NC programs # ( 1 ) DATA ( 9999 ) ( ) Upload PRO
For Parameters # ( 3 ) DATA ( )( ) Upload PAR

Do not press the INPUT key yet.

20 Set up the Laptop to send the data. You must choose the file you want to send.
You send by double clicking the file you want.
Do not send the file yet.

21 Press the INPUT key.

22 Send the data from the Laptop.


You only have 10 seconds to start sending the data after you hit the INPUT key.

23 When it is done the CNC will show " DATA IN COMPLETE "

24 Power off or restart the PLC.

Stopping The PLC
To STOP the PLC do one of the following :
*****PRESS IN E-STOP BEFORE TURNING OFF PLC*****
1 Turn the Rotary Switch to 1 from 0. (See picture below)

OR
2 A) Press the FO key. Then press the MENU key.
B) Press the FILE key. Then press the RUN/SP key.

You can tell what state the PLC is in at this point. The display will show PLC RUN or PLC STOP

C) Press the 1 key. Then press the INPUT key.

The display will show PLC STOP. Note if the READY light was on it will go out.

To put the PLC back in the RUN mode do the following :

A) Press the FO key. Then press the MENU key.


B) Press the FILE key. Then press the RUN/SP key.

You can tell what state the PLC is in at this point. The display will show PLC RUN or PLC STOP

C) Press the 0 key. Then press the INPUT key.

The display will show PLC RUN.
