Creating Series Start-up Archive Files for the NC and PLC

1. Using OP, (Operator Panel) select hardkey Machine then Menu select

Observe: The main operating areas horizontal softkey menu appears.


Machine, Parameter, Program, Services, Diagnosis and Start-up.

2. Using OP, select softkey Services

Observe: Current operating area is displayed at top left of display.

3. Using OP, select the hardkey (etc.../extension of the softkey menu key).

Observe: Horizontal softkey menu contains a key labeled Series start-up

NOTE: If softkey Series start-up does not appear then the password access rights need to be
set. See the procedure Setting Password Access rights Page 3.

4. Using OP, select horizontal softkey Series start-up.

Observe: Display shows ‘Create series startup archive’ window.

NOTE: If ‘Create series startup archive’ window does not appear, select vertical softkey
Make Start-up Archive

Using OP, select (Select/Toggle key) to remove the “X” from the box next to the label
MMC.

5. Verify the there is an “X” in the box next to the label NC

6. Using OP cursor keys, cursor down to highlight the box labeled PLC.

7. Using OP, select (Select/Toggle key) to remove the “X” from the box next to the label
PLC.

8. Using OP cursor keys, highlight the Archive name area.

9. Using OP, type in a descriptive name, then press the hardkey (INPUT/ENTER) .

EXAMPLE: NC101598, where 10 = month, 15 = day, 00 = year.


10. Using OP, select the vertical softkey Archive.

Observe:
a. Display shows ‘Job log for Series Start-up’.
b. When transfer is completed the dialog line will display ‘Job is ready’.

11. Verify that there is not an “X” in the box next to the label MMC

12. Using OP cursor key, highlight the box labeled NC.

13. Using OP, select (Select/Toggle key) to remove the “X” from the box labeled NC.

15. Using OP cursor keys, highlight the box labeled PLC.

16. Using OP, select (Select/Toggle key) to insert the “X” in the box labeled PLC.

17. Using OP cursor key, highlight the ‘ARCHIVE NAME” area.

18. Using OP, a descriptive name, then press the hardkey (INPUT/ENTER) . (similar to name
format used in step 10).

19. Using OP, select vertical softkey Archive.

Observe:
a. Display shows ‘Job log for Series Start-up’ window.
b. When transfer is complete, the dialog line displays ‘Job is ready’.

Setting Password Access Rights

1. Using OP, (Operator Panel) select hardkey Machine then Menu select

Observe: The main operating areas horizontal softkey menu appears.


Machine, Parameter, Program, Services, Diagnosis and Start-up.

2. Using the OP, select the horizontal softkey Start-up.

Observe: Message: Area Start-up being loaded! Please wait ...

3. Using the OP, select the vertical softkey Password …

4. Using the OP, select the vertical softkey Set password.

Observe: Define password window appears with text “Please enter password:”

5. Using the OP, type in SUNRISE (in upper case). Then press the vertical softkey OK.

Note: On some panels you may need to hold the hardkey (Shift) to type characters

Observe: Message “Current access level: Manufact. and Password has been set for
Manufact. !”

6. Using the OP, select the Menu select twice to return to the previous operating area
I.e. Services.

7. When finished creating or reading in Series Start-up the password access rights should be
deactivated. See procedure Deactivating Password Access Rights. Page 4.

Deactivating Password Access Rights

1. Using OP, (Operator Panel) select hardkey Machine then Menu select

Observe: The main operating areas horizontal softkey menu appears.


Machine, Parameter, Program, Services, Diagnosis and Start-up.

2. Using the OP, select the horizontal softkey Start-up.

Observe: Message: Area Start-up being loaded! Please wait ...

3. Using the OP, select the vertical softkey Password …

4. Using the OP, select the vertical softkey Delete password.

Observe: Message: Current access level: Keyswitch position and Password has been
deleted!

Note: The password has not been deleted in the system. The password access level has been
deactivated.

Rebooting the system will not deactivate an active password access level.

5. Using the OP, select the Menu select twice to return to the previous operating area
I.e. Services.

NCK general reset
In order to bring the control system into a defined initial state, an NCK general reset is required.
Caution: The SRAM memory is erased and the machine data are preset to the standard (default)
values.

1. Power off

2. Turn NCK start-up switch S3 to position “1”.

3. Power on.

After an error-free run-up, the number “6” is output on the 7-segment status display of the NCK.
The green LED “+5V” (SINUMERIK READY) lights up.

4. Turn NCK start-up switch S3 to position “0”

NCK start-up switch (S3) settings

0 Normal mode: The control powers up with the set data.


1 Start-up mode: The data in the buffered RAM (SRAM) are
erased and standard (default) machine data loaded.
2 Software update: Software is loaded from the PCMCIA
card (810D NCK only)
3--7 Reserved

PLC general reset including system data and diagnostic buffer

Note
To clear the entire SRAM contents of the PLC including the system data blocks and diagnostic
buffer contents. The data can no longer be accessed and the system data blocks must be loaded
again.

1. Turn PLC start-up switch (S4) to setting “3” (MRES)


(Request general reset)
⇒ Red LED PS goes out and lights up again

2. Press “Reset” button (S1) or cycle power.

3. When character “6” appears on display turn switch S4 to positions “2” - “3” - “2” (STOP-MRES-
STOP)
⇒ Red LED PS flashes first at a frequency of approx. 2 Hz and then displays a
continuous light again

4. After the PS LED light up, set switch S4 to position “0” (PUN-P)
⇒ Red LED PS goes out again and green LED PR (RUN) lights up
⇒ Initial clear of PLC complete, PLC then goes to cyclic operation mode

PLC start-up switch S4 settings

0 PLC RUN-PROGRAMMING: Operating state RUN. It is possible


to intervene in the PLC program without activating a password.
1 PLC RUN: RUN state. The program can only be accessed for
reading via the programming devices. After activation of the
password, it is possible to intervene in (i.e. change) the PLC
program.
2 PLC STOP: STOP state.
3 MRES: A module reset (general reset function) can be executed
with the switch in this setting.
PLC start-up switch S4 settings

0 PLC RUN-PROGRAMMING: Operating state RUN. It is possible


to intervene in the PLC program without activating a password.
1 PLC RUN: RUN state. The program can only be accessed for
reading via the programming devices. After activation of the
password, it is possible to intervene in (i.e. change) the PLC
program.
2 PLC STOP: STOP state.
3 MRES: A module reset (general reset function) can be executed
with the switch in this setting.

Reloading Series Start-up Archive Files for the NC and PLC

1. Using OP, (Operator Panel) select hardkey Machine then Menu select

Observe: The main operating areas horizontal softkey menu appears.


Machine, Parameter, Program, Services, Diagnosis and Start-up.

2. Using OP, select softkey Services

Observe: Current operating area is displayed at top left of display.

3. Using OP, select the hardkey (etc.../extension of the softkey menu key).

Observe: Horizontal softkey menu contains a key labeled Series start-up

NOTE: If softkey Series start-up does not appear then the password access rights need to be
set. See the procedure Setting Password Access rights Page 3.

4. Using OP, select horizontal softkey Series start-up.

Observe: Display shows ‘Create series startup archive’ window.

NOTE: If Display shows Read startup archive window, skip step 5

5. Using OP, select vertical softkey Read start-up archive

Observe: A new window will appear, labeled Read Series Start-up Archive.

6. Using OP cursor keys highlight the appropriate NC archive file.

Note: The backup files are created by the builder and / or end user and the specific name may
vary.
Suggestion: Select a file which refers to the NC and has the most recent data
7. Using OP, press the vertical softkey Start.

Observe: The window will shift to the Job Log display.


a. Answer the query ‘Do you wish to perform a series start-up of the NC by pressing the
vertical softkey Yes.
b. A series of prompts will appear, telling you the status of the upload of the various
series start-up files from the NC archive.
c. The message ‘NC Reset - Please wait’ will now appear as many as 6 times. This is
normal.
d. The control will shift back to the Read Series Start-up Archive display.

8. Using OP cursor keys highlight the appropriate PLC archive file.

Note: The backup files are created by the builder and / or end user and the specific name may
vary.
Suggestion: Select a file which refers to the NC and has the most recent data

9. Using OP, press the vertical softkey Start.

Observe: The window will shift to the Job Log display.

10. Using OP, press the vertical softkey Start.

Observe: Control will shift windows to the ‘Job Log display’.

a. Answer the query “Do you wish to perform a series start-up?” with the vertical
softkey Yes.
b. During the next couple of minutes, a variety of different files will be loaded,
followed by the message ‘NC Reset - Please wait’.
c. At the completion of this process, the control should shift back to the Read
Series Start-up Archive window.
