Reflection on Practice – We didn’t discuss this lesson N/A
Overview of the lesson:
To teach children how to draw 2D shapes with particular angles and lengths of sides.
Feedback from last improvement points
1) Ensure your lesson is following a logical sequence. This lesson followed a
logical sequence whereby the challenge increased as the lesson progressed –
good job.
2) Make sure you are happy that your resources maximize learning opportunities.
You made good use of the visualizer in the classroom which meant that
everyone could see what you were doing.
Areas for development:
This was your strongest teaching episode so far. The children were engaged and you
modelled the learning well, making good use of the resources.
For next time, I would just consider how you asked them to draw the hexagon
because it involved a completely different technique to how the other shapes were
modelled. The first shapes involved drawing the angle where two sides met, but the
hexagon involved working out angles around a point and then joining the sides after.
Teaching one technique and then expecting them to use another is difficult for the
children.

Focus for next lesson:

1) Challenge is good, as long as it is not too challenging. Make sure the task
involves applying the taught skills.
