SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE

05-00-00
GENERAL

1. FOREWORD
This manual is the maintenance manual chapter 5 of the FALCON 900EX EASy including A/C with M5281
(winglet).
The sections 05-00, 05-10, 05-20 and 05-50 of this manual define maintenance operations and frequencies
recommended by DASSAULT AVIATION to maintain the aircraft's airworthiness and to prevent degradation
of maintenance standards directly related to reliability. In addition, this schedule is intended to maintain these
standards at a minimum cost. The technical content of these sections is approved under the authority of DOA
nr.EASA.21J.051. Only the most recent revision of the present document corresponds to the
recommendations of the manufacturer DASSAULT AVIATION. The manual forms an entity, and the operations
described in one of the sections take into account the correct accomplishment of all operations contained in
the other sections. Consequently, only the whole document incorporating this most recent revision is approved
and it supersedes all previous revisions or reissues.
In addition, this Manual is completed by the "Airworthiness Limitations Section" 5-40 (DGT 113875). These
Airworthiness Limitations are limitations established for airframe, systems and items of equipment. This
section 5-40 is approved by the EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency). Mandatory operations on the
structure or systems in section 5-40 are also listed in section 5-10 and 5-20. These operations cannot be
deleted from the maintenance program. Their frequencies can be modified only with the agreement of the
manufacturer and the approval of the Certification Authorities without exceeding frequencies given in section
5-40.

2. APPLICABILITY
This maintenance program is valid for FALCON 900EX EASy delivered by DASSAULT AVIATION. This
manual refers only to installations designed or approved by the airplane manufacturer and incorporated in the
aircraft type design. It is recommended to use the spares, tools and special equipment listed in this
Maintenance Manual and Tools and Equipment Manual, unless alternate tools are developed and acceptable
to the local authority.
Other changes such as STCs, P.M.A. (Parts Manufacturer Approval) are not included in this manual.
Consequently, the operators shall add, modify, replace or delete operations required for maintenance of
different or supplementary installations to the maintenance program recommended by DASSAULT AVIATION.
The "standard" Chapter 5 maintenance program may not apply to the aircraft that are involved in accidents
and/or incidents which result in structural damage or other major or unusual damage to the aircraft.
Falcon aircraft involved in such accident or incident will require the review and/or the inspection of all structure/
equipment that has sustained significant or unusual damage associated with the accident/incident. Only the
manufacturer or its authorized representative can determine if the recommended maintenance program is still
applicable to such aircraft. Should this review/inspection reveal that the standard chapter 5 maintenance
program is not suitable, based upon the facts involved, subject aircraft maintenance program may have to be
supplemented by additional inspection criteria.
This maintenance program is applicable to aircraft on a fleet-wide basis regardless of the regulations of the
country in which the aircraft is registered. It includes the maintenance inspections required for operation in
the RVSM airspace.
However, the operator shall comply with the specific requirements as prescribed by the Authority of his country
of registration, e.g:
- EASA Part M (unless National Authority regulations are applicable),

- FAA regulations applicable to the USA and certain countries in the Western Hemisphere, particularly FAR
Parts 91 and 135,
- regulations established by the representative authorities of other countries.
This manual is based on a standard flight defined as follows:
- one take-off, one climb, one descent and one landing.
If the aircraft operation is different than the above description, or specific, the maintenance program must be
modified (refer to paragraph 5. - Structural Maintenance).
With approval of the relevant authorities of the country in which the aircraft is registered, the operator
of the aircraft may adapt the maintenance program recommended by the manufacturer. The operator
is held responsible for these changes.
These changes enable to adapt the maintenance program:
- in relation to the aircraft grounding possibility for the maintenance and desired operational availability,
- in relation with the aircraft operation (flying hours per year, environmental conditions, etc.).

3. MANUAL BREAKDOWN
The manual consists of 3 sections:

A. Section 5-10: Aircraft Maintenance Operations

This section lists all scheduled maintenance operations to be performed on the aircraft with their time
frequencies. It does not include maintenance operations performed in the workshop on items of
equipment, removed from the aircraft, which are addressed in section 5-20.

B. Section 5-20: Component maintenance operations

This section lists all scheduled maintenance operations for items of equipment and provides their time
frequencies.

C. Section 5-50: Unscheduled Maintenance Checks

This section lists all maintenance operations (Inspection/Check or Test) justified by a particular type of
aircraft operation, or unscheduled maintenance operations associated with aircraft safety.
NOTE: The " Airworthiness Limitations Section" 5-40 is provided as a separate document DGT 113875.

4. ENGINE AND APU INSPECTIONS

- For engine inspection, see engine manufacturer's Maintenance Documentation.
- It is essential to record engine cycles in order to comply with the time limits of the internal components of
the TFE 731-60 engine. These limitations are given in the Engine manufacturer's technical publications.
HONEYWELL-ALLIED SIGNAL REPORT 72-03-06 for MODEL TFE 731-60.
- For APU, see manufacturer's maintenance documentation for inspection and life limited parts.
HONEYWELL-ALLIED SIGNAL REPORT 49-24-02 for MODEL GTCP 36-150[F].

5. STRUCTURAL MAINTENANCE
Airworthiness is achieved by taking all the necessary steps to prevent damage occurring during use and likely
to affect the safe operation of the aircraft.
The FALCON 900EX EASy satisfies the "DAMAGE TOLERANCE" JAR 25.571 change 13 - structural design
conditions.

SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE

Fatigue damage simulation tests corresponding to 20,000 flight cycles have been performed by mathematical
modelling and confirmed by 40,000 fatigue cycles followed by 20,000 damage tolerance cycles, i.e. a total of
60,000 fatigue test cycles on an airframe representative of the complete aircraft.
A maintenance program is associated with these tests and updated regularly by the manufacturer. It is based
on periodic operations to be performed systematically, described in the various chapters and whose
frequencies are derived directly from the results of mathematical modelling and the results of fatigue tests or
damage tolerance calculations. It is on this basis that the manufacturer's stress department fixed the frequency
of the C inspection at 3750 flight cycles.
The "SAFE LIFE" components, the life limits of which have been demonstrated during the fatigue tests, are
listed in section 5-40. The limits for mandatory structural inspections resulting from the tests and damage
tolerance calculations are incorporated in the section 5-40 in accordance with appendix H of JAR 25.
NOTE: Servicing interval, TBO and service life are determined as follows:
• in Flying Hours (FH) for structural components, for which stress accumulation is function of flight
duration,
• in Landings (LDG) for structural components where maximum stress is encountered during landing/
take-off. The number of Landings is the number of flights plus the number of touch-and-go,
• in Flight Cycles (FC) for structural components mainly affected by cabin pressurization. The number
of Flight Cycles is the number of flights plus the number of additional pressurization cycles above
1 psi.

6. MAINTENANCE MANUALS TO BE CONSULTED

- Aircraft MAINTENANCE MANUAL.
- Engine Light Maintenance Manual for MODEL TFE 731-60.
- APU Maintenance Manual for MODEL GTCP 36-150[F].
- Supplemental MM and Chapter 5 issued by the completion center.
NOTE: Options installed during initial completion may be also covered by the basic AMM and/or Chapter 5.
In that case, refer to the most recent publication.

7. COMMUNICATION AND NAVIGATION SYSTEMS

A. In all cases the scheduling of maintenance procedures applicable to communication and navigation
systems shall not provide intervals exceeding those advised by manufacturers. The recommended
schedule is provided in Chapter 5 section 5-10 and 5-20, ATA 22, 23, 24 and 34.
Some operational regulations (Public Transportation, precision approaches categories I, II, III, etc.) may
influence the scheduling of maintenance in relation to aircraft flight operation (e.g. number of successful
CAT II approach landings). It is therefore required to check for compliance of manufacturer's
recommended schedule in view of aircraft flight activities.
The regulations and notes concerning the operation and maintenance of aircraft for Public Transport,
and aircraft operated in CAT I and CAT II are:
• aircraft registered in France: "Arrêté" dated May 12, 1997 and JAR AWO (All Weather Operations),
• aircraft registered in the United States under FAR 121, FAR 135: Advisory Circular No. 120-29,
• aircraft registered in another country: following requirements of local authorities.
Maintenance of these systems is performed in the following manner.
(1) Functional tests scheduled in section 5-10 to be performed on the aircraft and designed to validate
all the components comprising a system.

Effectivity: ALL

These tests are generally performed using tests integrated in the main components within the
system.
This maintenance philosophy is applicable to components of digital design. Integrated tests replace
bench tests of these components and thus avoid any possible damage to connectors.
(2) Bench test of components scheduled in section 5-20, to be performed in specialized workshops
approved by the airworthiness authorities (E.A.S.A., FAA, etc.).
These bench tests generally apply to analog components receiving electronic data or air pressure
from static or pitot pressure probes. Several components of this type can be calibrated on the aircraft
using a calibrated test bench. This test bench is designed to check that these components operate
within the required tolerances.
(3) During the first year of operation, each operator must supply the representatives of the local
authority in charge of airworthiness with a three-monthly report containing the following data:
(a) The number of real or simulated approaches employing category II equipment.
(b) The total number of unsatisfactory approaches and the technical reasons for these.
(c) The total number of instances of removal of components required for category II certification
(for failure or unsatisfactory operation).
NOTE: Operating report is to be submitted monthly for aircraft under FAA registration.
The list of data submitted in the operating report and the presentation of this data is to be
subject to negotiation between each operator and the local airworthiness authorities.

B. Operators using the aircraft for Private Transport (FAR 91) using category II must satisfy FAR 91
appendix A.
Maintenance of their navigation radio and automatic pilot equipment must be performed according to
sub-paragraphs (1) and (2) of paragraph A. above.

hours for the flying hours + 1 month for the calendar limit. These tolerances are not cumulative.
The due time of any A inspection (or multiple) must never be exceeded by more than 40 flying
hours or 1 month. In addition, the period of time between two A inspections must not exceed
440 flying hours or 9 months.

The A, 2A, etc., inspections are basic maintenance inspections which mainly include the servicing
operations (greasing and lubrication, inspection/check) whose basic purpose is to ensure regular
verification of the aircraft condition regardless of its utilization rate.
Some operations are performed at multiples of the A inspection (identified as 2A, 4A, etc.).
They are complementary to the A inspection but are to be performed only at the times specified for a
multiple inspection. The 2A operations are therefore to be scheduled once every two A inspections, the
3A operations are to be scheduled once every three A inspections, the 4A operations are to be scheduled
once every four A inspections, etc.
Example: The fourth A inspection (1600 flying hours or 32 months) will include the A inspection
operations, plus the 2A operations, plus the 4A operations.
The operations complementary to A identified by the "+" symbol are calendar time operations.
Consequently, they should be performed every 8 months for a A+, 16 months for a 2A+, etc.
NOTE: It is possible to separate the A check from multiple of the A check (2A, 3A, 4A). However
tolerances, listed here after, between two same type of inspection have to be respected:
• A = 400 FH + 40 FH or 8 months + 1 month,
• 2A = 800 FH + 40 FH or 16 months + 1 month,
• 3A = 1200 FH + 40 FH or 24 months + 1 month,
• 4A = 1600 FH + 40 FH or 32 months + 1 month.

C. B inspection
• The B inspection must be performed at every 1600 flying hours.

NOTE: The manufacturer authorizes a tolerance of plus 40 flying hours maximum beyond the B
inspection due time (or multiple thereof). These tolerances are not cumulative (refer to the
following diagram). The due time of any B inspection (or multiple) must never be exceeded by
more than 40 flying hours. In addition, the period of time between two B inspections must never
exceed 1640 flying hours.

The purpose of the B inspection is to ensure operational and/or functional capabilities of systems whose
condition is mainly related to flying hours.
Some operations are performed at multiples of the B inspection (identified as 2B, 3B, etc.). They are
complementary to the B inspection but are to be performed only at the times specified for such operations.
Example: A 2B inspection will include B inspection operations and operations specific to the 2B
inspection.

D. Z inspection
The Z inspection must be performed at every 24 months.
This Z inspection is a complement to the A inspection. It is a basic maintenance inspection which mainly
includes zonal and specific RVSM operations.
NOTE: To facilitate scheduling the Z inspection, the manufacturer authorizes a tolerance of plus 1
month. This tolerance is not cumulative.

The C inspection must be performed at every 3750 flight cycles or 6 years whichever limits is reached
first.

NOTE: The manufacturer authorizes a maximum tolerance of plus 2 months beyond the C inspection
calendar due time. No tolerance is allowed beyond the C inspection flights limit due time. The
interval between two C Inspections must be reckoned from the end of the C Inspection if the
duration of the inspection does not exceed 3 months. If the duration of the C Inspection exceeds
3 months, the interval must be reckoned 3 months after the beginning of the C Inspection.

NOTE: Cumuling tolerances on the C inspection is authorized. As 05-20-00 operations are independent
of the C operation, tolerances on C inspection cannot be applied to 05-20-00 operations.
The C inspection must be considered as a detailed inspection of the airframe and systems after opening
all doors and access panels.
The C inspection must also be considered as an inspection which, considering the extended down time
of the aircraft, allows reconditioning work to be done as well as the application of Service Bulletins which
are not already applied.
The C inspection must be supplemented by all the operations of the A inspection and multiples of A with
flying hours and calendar time limits (A, A+, 2A, 2A+, 3A, 4A, Z, etc.).
The C inspection must be supplemented by the B inspection operations if a B inspection has not been
performed since new or since the last C inspection.
However, the cycle of multiples of B inspection (2B, 3B, 4B) continues independently of the C inspection
cycle.
Some operations multiples of C (identified as 2C, 3C, etc.) are to be accomplished only at the time of
the multiple inspection.
A 2C inspection will include C inspection operations plus the operations specific to the 2C inspection.
Some inspections can be scheduled by number of flying hours (FH), those operations can be performed
during C checks.

4. DATE OF ORIGIN FOR THE CALENDAR INSPECTIONS

- If the date of origin for calendar inspections is listed in the aircraft log book, follow this date of origin.
- If not, the date of origin is the delivery date of the aircraft to the customer by DASSAULT AVIATION (the
date the Airworthiness Certificate is obtained), in the case of aircraft fully equipped by the manufacturer. For
aircraft delivered by DASSAULT AVIATION and equipped by a completion center, the date of origin for
calendar inspections must be reckoned from the delivery date to the customer by the completion center.
However, if the period of aircraft completion by the completion center exceeds 9 months, the date of the first

inspections may be reckoned from the date the stripped aircraft was delivered by DASSAULT AVIATION (the
date the Airworthiness Certificate is obtained) plus 9 months.
The date of calendar inspections (A or Z type) following a C inspection is reckoned from the date defined on
§ “Maintenance cycle – C inspection.

5. OPTIMIZED CONTINUOUS INSPECTION PROGRAM (O.C.I.P.)

Following the request of operators, DASSAULT AVIATION has developed an Optimized Continuous
Inspection Program, which is customized for each operator covering the A and Z, or A, Z and B inspections
and multiples.
These maintenance programs are an option available for operators who request it from the manufacturer. In
order to satisfy a maximum number of operators, two cycles have been retained:
- high rate of use > 600 flying hours per year,
- low and medium rate of use < 600 flying hours per year.
These programs are part to the present approved Chapter 5 and are presented as an optional appendix based
on the same tasks and intervals as the A, Z and B inspections.
This document indicates how to "enter" and "leave" the program, and gives the rules and instructions for use.

6. SERVICING
The aircraft servicing operations are described in the "Operating Manual Ground Servicing ".
This manual contains a daily servicing which is not part of the present aircraft inspection program.
The purpose of the daily servicing is to maximize the dispatch reliability and mission success of the aircraft.
Fluid level checks and replenishment are not part of the present maintenance program but are described in
the "Operating Manual - Ground Servicing".
The present maintenance program is based on the assumption that the aircraft is operated and serviced in
accordance with this operating document and that fluid level checks and replenishment (oil, hydraulic fluid,
oxygen, tire pressure, draining) are performed as required, based upon usage and consumption.

7. BASIC INSPECTION
The basic inspection must be performed every 60 days or 200 flying hours (first limit reached). A tolerance of
5 days may be used.
The basic inspection operations are listed in the maintenance procedure 05-60-00-200-801 (Refer to TASK
05-60-00-200-801).
NOTE: If the A/C has not flown for more than 65 days it is considered as a storage A/C. Refer to
10-10-00-550-801 (Refer to TASK 10-10-00-550-801) for storage and removal from storage
instructions.

8. LIST OF AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE OPERATIONS

The recommended maintenance operations to be performed on the aircraft are listed in tabular form as follows:
A. Column 1: Scheduled maintenance task number, may be either:
• A procedure number (12 digits), in accordance with the AMM procedures numbering system. In this
case, the whole procedure (all operations of the procedure) must be performed at the required interval.
• An operation number (14 digits), the first 12 digits being the AMM procedures number. In this case,
only the operation codes listed have to be performed at the required interval.

B. Column 2: Task title: Description of the procedure or of the operation in accordance with the AMM.

C. Column 3: Interval: Interval at which the task is to be performed and repeated.

D. Column 4: Effectivity: May be for example:

• Blank: the task is applicable to all aircraft.
• A Part Number: the task is applicable only to indicated P/N.
• With Mxxx, Without Mxxx, with SBxxx, Without SB xxxx: the task is applicable to any aircraft on which
modification or SB is or is not embodied.
• A/C xxx to xxx : the task is applicable to aircraft A/C xxx to xxx included.

E. Column 5: Source: Reserved.

F. Column 6: Note: Notes or comments related to the procedure/operation or its interval.

- The numbered notes are listed in section 05-00-00.

9. UPDATING OF SECTION 05-10-00

A. A new operation
A new maintenance operation, introduced by a revision or temporary revision of chapter 5 section
05-10-00 will have to be performed when the next inspection for which it is scheduled falls due.
Any exception to this rule will be stated in the revision.
Example:

New operation due at 2B inspection and aircraft with inspection 2B already performed: operation to be
scheduled at next B inspection then at each multiple of the 2B inspection interval.
New operation due at 2C inspection and aircraft with inspection 2C already performed: operation to be
scheduled at next C inspection then at each multiple of the 2C inspection interval.
NOTE: Regarding the Optimized Continuous Inspection Program, the manufacturer integrates this new
operation and releases to the operator an updated print-out which defines the maintenance block
where the operation is to be performed.

B. An interval change
If the interval of an operation is changed in a revision, check that the interval between the last time this
operation was performed and the next due inspection does not exceed the new interval value. If it does,
perform the operation at a convenient time not to exceed the recommended interval.

COMPONENT MAINTENANCE OPERATIONS

1. GENERAL
This section lists all work to be performed on these items and establishes their maintenance schedule.
The operations to be performed on these items of equipment when they are removed from the aircraft may
consist of special maintenance operations, functional tests or major overhaul.
The description of operations to be performed on the items of equipment (and list of required equipment) is
to be found in the "Maintenance Manual" (Maintenance Procedures) for maintenance operations which may
be performed on the aircraft and for maintenance operations which may be performed in the vicinity of the
aircraft (without returning the items of equipment to a specialized workshop).

2. SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE OPERATIONS

A. Components Governed by Number of Flying Hours, Landings or Flight Cycles

These components shall undergo maintenance operations when they reach the indicated number of Flying
Hours, Landings or Flight Cycles, or, if close to reaching this limit, at time of a scheduled aircraft inspection.
The length of time in service, for a particular component, is the time accrued during use on different aircraft.
NOTE: The number of landings is the sum of the actual landings + any possible touch and go.

B. Components Governed by Calendar Time

Scheduled maintenance operations on these components must be performed in accordance with
calendar time schedule only, without taking the flying hours or landings into consideration.

C. Components Governed by several parameters

Scheduled maintenance of these components must be performed when the first of these limits is reached.
D. Tolerance of Scheduled Maintenance Operations
A non cumulative tolerance of 3% of the recommended maintenance interval may be used for all
Components unless otherwise specified. There is no tolerance on life limits i.e. replacement/discard.

3. TIME BASE
The time base to be taken into account in order to determine the removal date of equipment depends on the
nature of these items. Unless otherwise specified in this section (05-20) the following instructions apply:

A. Components with calendar scheduled maintenance

For all components the threshold of the first inspection is registered in the Aircraft Inspection Handbook,
or in the component logbooks.
In case of component exchange, the time base will be the date of installation on aircraft for a new or
overhauled component, or the date of the last scheduled maintenance for a used component.

B. Components with life limit / replacement

The date of origin is the date of manufacture marked on the component identification plate, or registered
in the Aircraft Inspection Handbook, or in the component logbooks.

4. UTILIZATION OF COMPONENT MAINTENANCE TABLE

A. The maintenance of the components in accordance with the above paragraphs is listed in a table set out
as follows:
• Column 1: Scheduled maintenance task number:
• An operation number (14 digits), the first 12 digits being the AMM procedures number. In this case,
only the operation codes listed have to be performed at the required interval.
• Column 2: Task title: Description of the operation in accordance with the AMM.
• Column 3: Interval: Interval at which the task has to be performed and repeated.
The interval can be:
• D: Day
• M: Month
• Y: Year
• FH: Flying Hour
• FC: Flight Cycle
• LDG: Landing
• Column 4: Component Functional Index (CFI): Index that allows hyperlink navigation throughout the
maintenance documentation and for electrical component it is also the electrical index.
• Column 5: Effectivity: May be for example:
• Blank: the task is applicable to all component associated to this CFI.
• List of Part Numbers: The task is applicable only to the listed P/Ns. Note: A P/N in the list may not
be applicable to your aircraft. Refer to the IPC for this information.
• With Mxxx, Without Mxxx, with SBxxx, Without SB xxxx: the task is applicable to any aircraft on
which modification or SB is or is not embodied.
• A/C xxx to xxx : the task is applicable to aircraft A/C xxx to xxx included.
• Column 6: Source: Reserved.
• Column 7: Note: Notes or comments related to the procedure/operation or its interval.
The numbered notes are listed in section 05-00-00.

B. Definitions of maintenance type

• OPERATIONAL CHECK: Task to determine if an item is fulfilling its intended purpose. The task does
not require quantitative tolerances.

NOTE: This check is normally performed on the A/C using the installed system.
• FUNCTIONAL CHECK: Quantitative check to determine if one or more functions of an item performs
within specified limits.

NOTE: This check may require supplemental ground support equipment or the removal of an item of
equipment from the aircraft.
• INSPECTION CHECK: A visual inspection required to determine the condition of an item of equipment
or one of its components, unless special techniques or tools are required.
• SERVICING: Servicing operation including: cleaning, lubrication, greasing, conditioning of a
component or an item or equipment.
• CALIBRATION CHECK: Characteristics measurements:
Measuring of component settings and the comparison of these readings with established tolerances;
requires a measuring test bench.

SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE
• HYDROSTATIC TESTING: Check by application of a specific test pressure within vessels normally
containing pressurized fluids.
• REPLACEMENT/DISCARD: Replacement/discard of the component.
• RESTORATION: That work necessary to return the component to a specific standard. Since
restoration may vary from cleaning or replacement of single parts up to a complete overhaul, the scope
of each restoration task is described:
• In the title of the task (general description),
• In the overview of the task documented in the AMM (more detailed description).
NOTE: If the scope of the restoration task is not provided, a complete overhaul of the component has
to be performed.
OVERHAUL: Major restoration task with specific impact on the time base considered for the next
scheduled removal of the component (Refer to para. 3. “TIME BASE”).

5. OPERATIONS AFTER RE-INSTALLATION OF COMPONENT ON AIRCRAFT

After re-installation of a component on the aircraft, an operational or functional check of the corresponding
system is to be performed unless otherwise specified in a Removal/Installation procedure.
6. UPDATING OF SECTION 05-20-00

A. New maintenance operation

A new maintenance operation on equipment introduced by a revision or temporary revision of chapter 5
section 05-20-00 will have to be performed when the time at which it is scheduled falls due. Should this
time have gone past, the operation shall be performed at next aircraft inspection (A or Z or B or C).

B. Example:

C. Interval change
If the interval of an operation is changed in a revision, check that the interval between the last time this
operation was performed and now does not exceed the new interval due. If it does, perform the operation
at next aircraft inspection unless otherwise specified in this document.

7. MAINTENANCE OF SAFETY EQUIPMENT

The maintenance of safety equipment (life jackets, life rafts and survival equipment, etc.) is to be performed
in accordance with the regulations of the country in which the aircraft is registered. Most of these items of
equipment constitute "non standard" options which vary according to the type of interior furnishing. Some of
these items can be listed on the section 05-20 but if not refer to SMM.
