STARTING

Control and Indication - The Introduction of a New Solid State Start Contactor for
Engine 1 and 2.

1. Planning Information

A. Effectivity

(1) F27 Mark 050, 0502 and 0604 aircraft serial numbers:

20103 and subsequent.

(2) Production version of this modification: Not applicable.

B. Concurrent Requirements

(1) At the same time as you do this SB, it is convenient to do:

- SBF50-49-015 - AIRBORNE AUXILIARY POWER - Starting - The Introduction of
a New Solid State Start Contactor for the APU.

C. Reason

(1) The original start contactor pn SA03506 (F0N9-5803-2) manufactured by Lucas

Aerospace is out of production and almost obsolete.

(2) An Appendix to this Service Bulletin introduces a new solid state contactor
pn 134H0006-02 for the Engine 1 and/or 2 start contactor.
This new contactor has a different fit, so also the terminal strips, connecting the contactor
to the aircraft wiring, have to be changed.

(3) This new start contactor offers a higher reliability and a lower list price.
