My Local Teaching Demonstration

Finally, the time has come! My preparations for this day will be tested and I
felt nervous about it. I woke up early in the morning to finalize everything that I
need in my local demonstration. I reviewed everything in my lesson plan and in my
powerpoint presentation so that I can execute my teaching properly and to
maximize my time. I went to Alupay National High School at 6:40am and I prepare
the set-up of my demo. I went to Computer Room to borrow the things that I needed
like widescreen, projectors, speakers and extension. After that, I went to some of
the Mapeh teachers that will served as my critique for the demonstration. Then,
Maam Melanie had arrived and I felt nervous again. I accommodated and assist her
to the room that I will be using. After a while, Sir Louie, which is another critique
had also arrived and I assist him too. On that time, my adrenalin was getting low and
I was lost my composure because of the mixed emotions that I felt. I talked to Maam
Rhea and Sir Jhonel to help our Cooperating teacher, Maam Emma in preparing the
foods that will be served to the critiques. Before I started my demo, I went to Grade
8- Dove to inform the students that I will be using for my demonstration. I ask them
to their full participation and cooperation to become behave during my demo and
they promised me that they will be behave and participate as long as they can and I
feel glad to them. They were all wishing me good luck and telling me that I should
relax and I can do it. During that moment, I feel motivated and inspired because of
the concerns of my students.

Then after preparing everything, I started my demonstration. I began it with a

prayer and the necessary preparatory routines inside the classroom. Then
afterwards, I started reviewing their past lessons which is about communicable
diseases and I called some students to answer. After the review, I jump to my
motivational activity. I grouped them into three and assigned them to assemble the
puzzles pieces and give their insights and perspective about the image that will be
formed after the activity. Most of the students are raising their hands just to give
their opinions about the pictures. They are all cooperative. I called some students
and they give their answers. With that, I introduced my lesson which is about
“Cigarette Smoking”. Then, I started my lesson proper about the topic. I cited some

examples of the smokes produced by the smokes and how it can affect our body. I
also show them pictures of diseases that we can get in smoking. They are all amazed
on the pictures and the facts that I am saying about smoking. You can really see that
they are cooperative when I am asking some questions regarding the topic. After
that, we had again an activity. I told them to create a campaign materials that
depicts awareness on cigarette smoking. While doing the activity, I am roaming
around to observe and guide the students in doing the activity. After about 5
minutes, they started presenting what they have done. Group 1 presented a role
play followed by group 2 that presents poem and lastly, the group 3 who presented
a simple jingle about smoking. They are all active in every activity that we are doing.
I ask them on their realizations about the activity and they give their full response in
answering my questions. In my Generalization, I review them on what we have
discussed and I ask them on what they have learned about the lesson. Then, I ask
them to get a 1/4 sheet of paper for my evaluation. I flash my 5 questions on the
widescreen and then we checked it. I am so happy because they are all perfect in my
quiz and got all the correct answers. I got the CPL of 100 percent. Finally, my
teaching demonstration was done. Before dismissing them, I ask them to read their
assignments and copy it on their notebook. I am so happy because they are all
cooperative during my demonstration. I thank them and promised them that I will
give credits or just a simple token for them and they are all happy about it.

I know that it is just the beginning on becoming an effective teacher. I know

that I have some flaws that needs improvements and I accept it because it can
served as your motivation to improve your teaching strategies and styles for
addressing the learners needs. I am thankful to God and for those people especially
to my Cooperating Teacher,Maam Emma and Maam Mhey, to grade 8- Dove
students, to Maam Cecil in accepting us for our observation in Alupay National High
school and for Maam Melanie and Sir Louie for their supports and guidance
throughout our journey. I know that I couldn’t able to do it with myself only. Thank
you very much.
