Rational Numbers

This lesson plan aims to teach 7th grade students about arranging rational numbers on a number line. It includes objectives, concepts, materials, and procedures for the lesson. The procedures involve reviewing rational numbers, having students arrange themselves in order, analyzing the activity, explaining a number line, and dividing into groups to arrange numbers on a number line which they will present. Students will be assessed on collaboration, accuracy, and presentation for their group activity. They are assigned to arrange additional rational numbers on a number line for homework.

Lesson Plan in Mathematics – Grade VII

L.C. The learner arranges rational numbers on a number line (M7NS-Ie-2).

I. Objectives
At the end of the 60-minutes period, the students will be able to:
1. discuss the arrangement of rational numbers on a number line;
2. value cooperation in a group activity; and
3. arrange rational numbers in a number line.

II. Subject Matter

Topic: Rational Numbers on a Number Line
Concepts: Rational numbers are numbers that can be expressed in the form a/b, a
and b are integers and b ≠ 0.
Reference:
Nivera, G. (2010). Elementary Algebra: Patterns and Practicalities. Makati City: Don
Bosco Press.
Materials: PowerPoint presentation, Visual Aids, IM, Marker, etc.

III. Procedure
A. Classroom Routine
B. Activity Proper
1. Review. PEEK A BOO
Oral Recitation. There will be random students who will answer a
question. Questions were placed under their chairs. A student will find a
piece of paper with corresponding question on it, and will answer it.
2. Arrange Yourself. Let every students pick 1 number from the box, and
ask them to arrange their selves according to the number they picked in
ascending or descending order.
C. Analysis
1. How did you arrange the numbers?
2. Is it necessary to observe the proper arrangement of numbers in a
number line?
3. What is the importance of knowing the order of numbers?
D. Abstraction
1. What is a number line?
2. How are you going to make number line?
3. How are you going to arrange and plot the rational numbers in a number
line?
E. Application. Arrange Me
1. The class will be divided into five groups.
2. Each group will be given materials that will help them in arranging
numbers in a number line.
3. The group will choose two representatives to present their output within
five minutes in the class.
4. Each group will be given ten minutes to brainstorm and generate ideas.

VI. Assessment. Criteria for the activity (Arrange Me).

Collaboration - 5 points
Accuracy - 10 points
Presentation - 5 points
Total - 20 points
V. Assignment. Arrange further the following rational numbers in a number line. Write it in a
¼ sheet of paper. Due on Monday.
