Detailed Lesson Plan

This detailed lesson plan aims to teach students about the Cartesian coordinate system. The objectives are for students to understand the concept of Cartesian coordinates, graph points on the coordinate plane, and identify point positions. The lesson will begin with a review of previous topics, and include an activity where students act out a number line to reinforce prior learning. Students will then be motivated to learn about Cartesian planes through an analysis of the activity. Finally, students will be assigned homework to plot points on a Cartesian plane and identify their quadrants.

DETAILED LESSON PLAN

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
a. Clearly articulate the concept of the Cartesian coordinate system.
b. Graphically represent provided points on the coordinate plane.
c. Identify and label the positions of each specified point.
II. SUBJECT MATTER
The Cartesian Plane
References: TOPIC: Cartesian Plane (Rectangular Coordinate System)
a. SUB-TOPICS: Plotting Points on the Cartesian Plane
b. REFERENCE(S): https://www.cuemath.com/geometry/cartesian-plane/

c. MATERIALS: Visual aids, food rewards, and laptop

d. VALUES INTEGRATION: Accuracy
III. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES
a. PRAYER:
b. GREETINGS:
c. CHECKING OF ATTENDANCE:
-Okay, let us check your attendance first.
-Listen attentively.
-De Dios?
-Present.
-De Jesus?
-Present Ma’am.

d. ASSIGNMENT (LAST ASSIGNMENT):

-As far as I can recall, I asked you to create an assignment yesterday on
our topic. Didn’t I?
-Yes, Ma’am.
-Alright, give all of your assignments to your secretary.
-Noted, Ma’am.
-Ms. Villadiego, please give me all the papers at 10 o’clock sharp. I’m in
room 204.
-Yes, Ma’am.
IV. LESSON PROPER
a. REVIEW:
- Who can tell what topic did we discussed last meeting? Mr. Sims?
- Last meeting, we discussed about points, lines, and plane.
- Mr. Negapatan?
- Ma’am, we also tackled the person who discover the Rectangular
Coordinate System. That person is Rene Descartes. It was named after
him.
- Excellent.
- All of your answers are correct.
- It seems like you really listened carefully to our lesson. Good job.

b. MOTIVATION (PRIMING):
-Now that you already familiarized our las topic, today, we’re going to talk
about the Rectangular Coordinate System also knows as the Cartesian
Plane.
i. ACTIVITY/PUZZLE:
-But before we proceed with our lesson, I have here an activity for
you to test whether you fully understand our last topic.

Activity 1: Clap Clap Clap, Champion!

This game-like exercise will aid in your memory of the idea of a
number line. This will last for five minutes.

Mechanics:
Assemble a group of nine or eleven people.
- (Students do as told.)
Line up in front of your classmates.
Assign an integer to each group member in a left-to-right order,
starting with the least and working up to the greatest.
Give the group member in the middle a zero.
Give a recitation of the assigned number.
As you recite, clap, and when the final person is done, clap as a
group and say Champion!
- (Students do as told.)
Raise your hands if you had a great performance.
- (Students raise hand.)
I have some questions right now. If you would like to respond,
kindly raise your right hand and answer me fully.

- Did you understand?

- Yes, Ma’am.
- If that so, what makes up a number line?
- A number line is composed of both positive and negative integers.
Positive integers can be found on the right side, while the negatives
are on the left side.
- Excellent.
- What about the zero, where can we find it on the number line?
- It can be found in the middle most part of the number line.
- Who can draw a number line?
- Ma’am?
- Yes, Mr, Bolante
- (Student do as told.)
- Amazing.
ii. ANALYSIS:
- How did you find the activity?
- It was fun and enjoying, Sir.
- Glad to know. Did you have a hard time finding where you should
go according to your chosen integer?
- No, Ma’am. We easily found our place as we really paid attention
while you were discussing the lesson.
- Great job.
iii. ABSTRACT:
iv. APPLICATION:
v. EVALUATION:
V. CLOSURE
VI. ASSIGNMENT (HOMEWORK)\
-On a one whole sheet of paper, draw a cartesian plane and plot these
ordered pair accordingly. After plotting each point, tell what quadrant each of
them belongs.
1. (1, 0)
2. (-2, 5)
3. (3, -1)
4. (0, 1)
5. (4, -1)
