Converts measurements from one unit to another in both Metric
and English systems.

I. Learning Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:

III. Procedure/Learning Process

Teachers Activity Students Activity

A. Preliminary Activity

1. Prayer
Before we start our class,
Students are praying.
everybody please stand for
a prayer. Icy please lead
the prayer.

2. Greetings
Good morning class
Good morning Ma’am!
How are you today?
We’re fine Ma’am.
Very good.

Before you take your seats

chairs properly.
Please be seated.

3. Checking of
attendance
Is anyone absent?
No one Ma’am!

That’s good to hear.

4. Setting of Classroom
standard
Now please settle down for
we are about to start our
new lesson. Remember to
always listen, participate
and enjoy.
Understood? Yes Ma’am!

5. Review

measurement simply
means the size, length, or
amount of something”
“For example, Mr. Arthur
please stand up.”
“How tall are you?” “Yes Ma’am, I’m just 5” feet tall.”
“Oh, that’s already
measurement, Do You
understand
B. Developmental Activities

a) Motivation
“For us to be able to easily
get familiarized with
measurements, we will be
having first a game.”
“Before that, I’ll group you
Into two, all boys shall be
the group 1 and all girls
shall be the group 2, then “Oh that’s so exciting,!”
we’ll play.
“What shall we do Ma’am?”
“The procedure goes like
this; with all the things a
meter get the exact
measurement of your line.
The group with the longest
line will win.

You have, create a line in

just for 5 minutes. Using
a meter, get the exact
measurement of your line.
The group with the longest
line will win.
Do you understand?” Yes we do Ma’am!
The game starts.

b) Presentation of the
lesson
“We are done with the
game. Alright class, what Two representatives discuss

do you learn about

measurement?”
“Each group, please choose a
representative to discuss.

“Very good Class. However, Yes Ma’am!

you’ve just presented the
very basic of measurement.
Everyone please eyes on me
and listen to my
discussion.”
1. Activity
Class we will have
another activity.
This activity is called

3. METER
4. HEIGHT
5. CONVERT

Based on the given activity what

have you observed?
(Students raised their hands)
Yes Diane.
Its all about measurement ma’am.
Very good!

Its all about conversion ma’am.

What else?

Yes, That’s right!

Today, we will understand

the conversion of unit.

2. Analysis

“Let us first define

measurement.”
“Ms.Jane, may you please

the slide.

the Metric system and the
English System.”
“When we say Metric
System, it is a measurement
based on the meter and on
the kilogram,
example units of this system
are meter(m) and
centimeter(cm); while
English System, it is the
foo-pound-second system of
units, example units
of this are feet and yard.”

“Regarding to the proper use

of measuring tools; which
the ruler and meterstick are
most common to us.”
“So class, do you have your “Yes Ma’am.”
ruler?”
With the ruler you have,
kindly get the length of your
books. Use the most
appropriate unit. As you can
see, the ruler as well as the
meterstick have 2 common
parts. The first one, the
upper
part is for Metric System
Units in the form of cm and
dm and the other one, the
lower part is the English
System Unit which is the
Inches”.
Yes Ma’am!
Do you get it class?”

”So let us move to the

conversion.”
Presentation of the Tables of
Presentation of the Tables of Measurement
Measurement

Table of Measurement / Conversion Table:

This tables are illustrated in the following examples:

1. 5.8 m=______cm

5.8 m x = 580 cm

2. 68 dkm = _____dm

68 km x = 6800 dm

3. 2 miles = _____m
2 miles x= 3200 m

4. 1.5 m = _____inches
1.5 m x = 59 inches

 Examples of problem of system of measuremnets:

1. If Ron’s height is 5 feet and 2 inches, what is its equivalent to

inches?

Solution: Convert 5 ft. to inches:

5 ft. x = 60 inches + 2 inches = 62 inches
2. If the distance of your house to your school is 8 km., what is its
distance in miles?

Solution: Convert 8 km. to

miles 8 km. x = 5
miles

d) Application

I. Individual:
1.1 Convert the following units of measurements. You can
use the tables as your guide. Show your solution and write
this in 1 whole pad paper.
1. 85 miles to Meter
=

2. 800 meter to inches

=

3. 35 km to feet =

4. 500 m to dkm
=

5. 6 miles to cm =

I.2 Solve the problem involving Systems of Measurement.

1. Rezel throws a ball, and the ball reaches 253 meter apart from
her. What is the distance of the ball to Rezel in inches? In feet? In
centimeter? Show your solution.

II.Group Activity:

The class will be divided into three groups. Anything inside the
classroom, each group will choose an object (e.g. table, chair,
board). Using a ruler or a meterstick, get the dimension of an
object using appropriate Metric and English System units
f) Abstract:

Within the same group, you will

be given manila paper and meta
Answers may vary
cards. What you are going to do
is to write all the possible uses
and functions in conversion of
meaurements. You are given 5
minutes to do your task and
after 5 minutes you are going to
post your work on the board.

Select one representative to

explain your work.

“Anyone who can summarize our

lesson for today.

“Okay, Ms. Fatima.”

Students raise their hands.

“Generalizing our topic for today about

“measurement.” Measurement means
the size or amount of something known
through the use of measuring tools. It
has two systems the Metric and English
System. Our common tools for
measurements are the ruler and
meterstick.”

“Very good!”

“Is there anyone in the class who

can share what you’ve learned?”
Students raise their hands.
Yes, Mr. Joel?

“Aside from what she said earlier, I also

learned about how to convert correctly
the different measuring units of different
measuring systems. I learned also how to
use precisely the conversion table.”

“Very good!”

“Is there any question?” None Ma’am!

“Lets have a quiz!”

IV. Evaluation:
Quizzes:

I. Using the table of conversion convert the given value into

different measuring units. Show your solution. Write this in one
whole pad paper.
1. Convert 752 miles into:
a. kilometer :
b. feet :
c. inches :
d. meter :
e. yard :

II. In your own words, explain the following:

1. Measurement:

2. Systems of Measurement

3. Measuring tools and usage

V. Assignment:
I. Determine the distance of your house to your school. Specify what
measuring tool you will use. With the distance you will get, write it in the
form of:
1. Miles

2. Kilometers

3. Feet

4. Inches

5. centimeters
II. Answer pages 184-186 on your textbook. Write you answer on one whole
pad paper.
III. One whole pad paper, draw any measuring tool. Discuss its usage and
the unit/s of measurement On it uses.
IV. Review our next topic: “Linear Measurement”
