Method Statement for Survey Works

At Kudavillingili Reclamation Project

Summary

The primary horizontal control has been established prior on the K. Kudavillingili, as to the land
regulation on three sites of the island. Permanent Station Mark (PSM) is the main control station for all
the surveys of the island. The PSM are PSM5702, PSM5703 and PSM5704.

The horizontal coordinates (Easting X, Northing Y) of the three PSMs was determined by single point
localization simultaneously. The vertical control Z is related to the mean sea level. This was calculated
based on K. Hulhule predicted tide data provided from the MET office.

PSM NOTHING EASTING OTHO HEIGHT

PSM5702 484153.304 351716.716 +0.793
PSM5703 483747.804 351610.536 +0.849
PSM5704 483664.847 351645.744 +0.735

Topographic survey

For topographic survey of the shoreline levels will be done by using Real Time Kinematic (RTK)
technology will be used to collected points. These points will be referred to one of the PSM as Base
Station. A GNSS receiver will be kept static as a reference base station while another rover receiver is
used to measure the levels. Base receiver sends real time corrections to rover receiver via UHF radio
signal. All the measurements will be taken using RTK fix in field controller software. RTK Fix feature is
used to measure the levels with optimum accuracy where fixed points are measured by keeping the
rover receiver on the point for an epoch count of ten, giving an accuracy of less than 0.01m. The level in
the vegetation area will be recorded by using a dumpy level. PSM will be used as the reference marks

Bathymetric survey

Echo sounder (single beam) will be used for bathymetric survey coupled with the DGPS integrated with
Echo Sounder has done the positioning. Real Time Kinematic (RTK) technology will be used to collected
points is referred to one of the PSM as Base Station. All the data X Y and Z will be recorded to the field
controller.
Processing data

All Survey information is processed through dedicated mapping software to produce the required
outputs. First data was imported to software from the GPS to the native ASCII format of GPS. The
resulting raw data was cleaned for any data that had no satellite data. The cleaned data was applied
corrections in the software using two separate datasets.

Collected points were enhanced by Surfer or civil 3d software by adding boundary information, posting
data points, combining several maps, adding drawings to a map and the calculations with the grid files
made from the data.
