Lesson Plan in Media and Information Literacy (MIL)

Date : October 14, 2019 Subject : Media and Information Literacy

Grade & Section: 11A – HUMSS

Content Standards: The learners demonstrate a familiarity with visual media and gains
comprehensive knowledge on how to effectively evaluate them.
Performance Standards: The learners shall produce a visual-based presentation anchored on
design principles and elements.
Learning Competencies:
 Produce and evaluates a creative visual-based presentation using
design
principles and elements. MIL11/12-VIM-IVc-10.

I – Objectives

At the end of the lesson, the learners able to:


1. Analyze the elements used in a given visual media;
2. Identify the different types of visual content;
3. Describe the purposes of visual media and information; and
4. Produce and evaluates a creative visual-based presentation using
design principles and elements.

II – Subject Matter
Topic: Visual Information and Media
References: Teaching Guide for Senior High School Media and Information Literacy

Higher Education in Collaboration with the Philippine Normal University)
Materials: Laptop, Powerpoint, Personal Computer, Projector, Pictures.
Values: Attentiveness, Participation, Appreciation, Discipline.

B. Motivation
Hybrid Graphic Novel
The teacher will play a short graphic novel presentation to the students.

C. Activities
The students will write the story of the graphic novel in their notebook.
Three (3) students will present their story to their classmates based of what they
have seen on the novel.
The teacher will ask questions to the class:
1. Who is the main character of the story? How did you know?
2. What do you know about the main character? How did you know it?
The learners will create a poster assigned by their teacher and share to the class.

D. Abstraction
Proceed to the next lesson which is Visual Information and Media.
Ask the learners about their ideas in Visual Information and Media.
Introduce the meaning of Visual Information and Media.
Give examples of Visual Media Content.
Introduce the purpose of Visual Information.
Introduce the Elements of Visual Design.
Discuss each Elements of Visual Design.

E. Application
The learners will create invitation card using MS Publisher and apply the Elements of
Visual Design.
The teacher will check the work of the learners using the rubric posted.
