Chapter 3

Research Methodology

This chapter the research design and procedures to be used in the study. It covers
the research method to be used, population, and research locale, description of the
respondents, research instrument and the validation of the survey questionnaire, data
gathering procedure, and the plan for data analysis.

Research Design
This study is Quantitative, since the research questions are seeking to answer that is
leads to numerical data. Specifically, Descriptive Method was used in this study to
seek for the Effect of traffic congestion in academic performance of Grade 12
students of Upper Bicutan National High School. The data that the researchers
gathered is by means of questionnaire distributed to the random respondents.

Locale of the study

The study entitled Effect of traffic congestion in academic performance of Grade 12


students of Upper Bicutan National High School, is conducted at the City of Taguig
particularly at Upper Bicutan National High School.

THE SAMPLE
The target population of the researchers to this study are the Grade 12 students during
the school year 2019-2020. Those students are belongs in their specific strands
Humanities and Social Science (HUMSS) and General Academic Strand (GAS).

With the total of 500 senior high school students, the researchers will consider the
100 respondents to answer their questionnaire using slovin’s formula for computing
sample size with a five percent margin of error. These sample shall be randomly
selected through stratified sampling.

THE INSTRUMENT
The researchers must be used the questionnaire method. The questionnaire made
by the researchers who focuses on what are the Effect of traffic congestion in
academic performance Grade 12 students of Upper Bicutan National High School.
To gathered necessary information, the researchers made use of questionnaire as a
primary tool, with the permit of the validators, the researchers also provided a draft
and should be presented it in the validators for the comments.

DATA COLLECTION PROCEDURE


To gather data collection from the target participants, the researchers must use
such as interview questionnaire, permission to conduct and the respondents.

The researchers will secure the permission of the school to do a survey. If the
validators will approved the permit then the researchers will assign a date to conduct
their survey. Afterwards, the researchers will do a room to room distribution of
questionnaire to the students randomly and when they are done answering. Lastly, the
researchers will analyze the data.

Plan for Data Analysis

The data obtained from the respondents were tabulated, analyzed and
interpreted after having a compiled. The result of the survey were presented following
the sequence of the research question in the study

Frequency distribution (f) it was used to tally and count the frequency falling under
each category.

To determine what is the Effect of traffic congestion in academic performance to the


students, the liker scale were used to determine the perceptions of the respondents.
The following option and verbal interpretation used is presented below:
