B0700HP – Rev C 2. Hardware Upgrade Installation
Provisioning is an embedded solution on the HP DL380 Gen10 Proliant server providing system
configuration through an easy to use utility. The storage array must be configured before the
operating system is installed onto the system. This section details how to create and delete storage
arrays, manage spare drives, and clear the storage controller's configuration information. The
following examples describes the configuration steps for 8 hard drive server to setup as a RAID5
with a single hot spare hard drive.
For more detailed information, refer to the HP Smart Storage Administrator User Guide, HP Part
Number: 742648-008a.
NOTE
1. To use Intelligent Provisioning, you must connect a monitor to the server's
onboard VGA or DisplayPort connector.
2. You must connect a monitor to one of the server's onboard VGA or DisplayPort
connector when using Intelligent Provisioning. If you perform Intelligent
Provisioning with the embedded video disabled you will get the message displayed
in Figure 2-2.
3. Some monitors connected VGA (analog) to the server require the user to perform
an Auto Adjust using the OSD (On-Screen Display) controls to automatically
adjust the image position, H. SIZE and FINE settings. Not performing the auto
adjust when connected via VGA results in some picks not being visible when the
HP Smart Storage Administrator utility is displayed on the screen. In particular the
exit icon (X) in the upper right hand corner of the display. Refer to Figure 2-10.

synchronize the Galaxy as soon as the operating system is restored.
The Windows Server 2016 operating system is installed and preconfigured per H-Code (see
Chapter 1 “Basic Server Setup”) from Foxboro, ready for Control Core Services installation (see
Chapter 7 “Control Core Services Installation”). If you are installing your hardware for the first
time, you should only require Chapter 1 “Basic Server Setup” and Chapter 2 “Hardware Upgrade
Installation”. Most of the information contained in this chapter is required only if your H90
server needs to be reloaded in case of unavailability.
If an internal RAID set is used in the H90 server, the RAID set must be intact or created before
installing the operating system.
When reloading the Windows Server 2016 operating system, you must perform these steps:
♦ Install all hardware and connect all cabling to the H90 server, as described in
Chapter 1 “Basic Server Setup”.

6. Video Configuration
This chapter provides configuration procedures for setting up the video driver.
Configuring Video
The H90 workstation uses a Quad PCIexpress Mini DisplayPort video card for display output.
The user is responsible for configuring quad head video drivers to support multiple monitor
configuration physical layouts. The user also must configure the video card driver for span mode
if Wonderware InTouch software support is required.
NOTE
The Matrox M9120 video card is no longer available as an option in the H90 server
beginning with the release of the HP DL380 Gen10 server.
NOTE
It is inadvisable to disconnect the digital video cables from the NVIDIA graphics
card during operations on a running system. Disconnecting the cable from either
the computer end or the monitor end can cause video resolution problems. The
NVIDIA graphics card will dynamically reset the driver configuration, resulting in a
video frame buffer size that exceeds the monitor resolution. Disconnecting the
video cable on a running system will have a negative effect on the operation of the
H90 workstation. This message will appear repeatedly in the document to advise
you of potential negative conditions.

This chapter provides documentation references for you to proceed with the initial installation
(Day 0) of your Control Core Services. This procedure is specific to the hardware platform
defined in Chapter 1 “Basic Server Setup” of this document.
When you receive your H90 server from Schneider Electric, it comes pre-configured and ready for
Control Core Services to be installed. You must install the Control Core Services software
yourself, as described in the installation sections below, and in Control Core Services version
specific release notes shipped with the software.
These sections describe the complete Control Core Services configuration specifically designed for
the H90 servers with H-Codes H90*********, Style M. To determine your H90 server’s H-Code,
refer to “Determining Your H90 Server’s Configuration” on page 1. These instructions do not
apply to any other H90 Series processors.
NOTE

run Control Core Services v9.4 or later. Control Core Services v9.3 and earlier are
not supported.
2. Refer to the release-specific installation of release notes documentation for
additional details on installing Control Core Services.
NOTICE
POTENTIAL EQUIPMENT DAMAGE
Before you install Control Core Services, verify that the server is
physically connected to the network and, if required, that any network
interface card drivers are updated. Refer to “Hardware Upgrade
Installation” on page 29.
Also, verify the server is disconnected from any secondary (non-
Foxboro DCS) networks (except the Distributed Control System
Auxiliary Communications Network (DCS ACN)), but do not disable
the adapters for these network cards.
75
B0700HP – Rev C 7. Control Core Services Installation
NOTICE
POTENTIAL DATA LOSS
DO NOT disable the Network Interface Cards (NICs) of the server that
are used for the Foxboro DCS Control Network from the My Network
Connections tool, or from any other application in the Windows
operating system. The Foxboro DCS control system remains active
and online during system stress. Manual disconnection of the server
from the Control Network can disturb the resiliency of the operating
system. A server that connects to the Control Network should not be
offline, asleep, or in a state of hibernation. When the NICs connecting
to the Control Network are disabled or placed offline by the operating
system, the intermediate card driver becomes unstable and the
system may stop responding.
DO NOT turn off the NICs that connect to the Control Network.
NOTE
To restore the Windows Server 2016 operating system, you must perform the steps
described in Chapter 3 “Image Recovery, Windows Server 2016 Operating System”
of this document.
Recommendations
It is recommended that you perform these tasks once you complete Control Core Services
