NARRATIVE AND PICTORIAL REPORTS ON SCHOOL INSIDE A GARDEN

S. Y. 2019-2020

I. INTRODUCTION

The school has been a basic foundation of skills and learning and is the ideal point for a
project. One of the projects implemented by San Felipe Elementary School is the “School
Inside A Garden,” and a full support for the DepEd.

It encourages and promotes the school children to plants different plants such as
native, endemic, medicinal, fruit bearing, ornamental and green leafy vegetables in
school backyard garden areas.

II. OBJECTIVES

 To awaken the pupil’s consciousness the realization of how important plants and
vegetables, their nutrients, their vitamins, and effect of healthy living.
 To increase their awareness on hunger issues and actions to mitigate
malnutrition among their family.
 To encourages for every community to cooperate and shares reproduction of
green leafy vegetables in their backyard garden.

III. ACCOMPLISHMENT

A. PRE-IMPLEMENTATION PHASE

 Pupils from Grade Four to Grade Six encourage to have a plot where they plant
different vegetables.
 School allotted budget from canteen for the agricultural seeds.
 Encourages for every community to cooperate and shares reproduction of green
leafy vegetables in their backyard garden.

IV. NARRATIVE

Elementary Agriculture is the teaching of agriculture, natural resources, and land


management through hands on experience and guidance to prepare students for entry
level jobs of to further education to prepare them for advanced agricultural jobs. It is
taught in public schools and deals with such subjects as how plants and animals grow
and how soil is farmed and conserved. School gardens are cultivation areas or school
laboratories around or near schools, for production of fruits and vegetables. The
promotion of school gardens usually aims towards different objectives, giving pupils
knowledge and skills for better agricultural productivity and sustainable agricultural
practices, giving environmental education a sustainable and practical dimension,
change attitudes towards agriculture and rural life, and increase school attendance
school feeding and create income and improving food diversity to combat micronutrient
deficiencies among school children and improve overall food security.
Here, pupils learned how to plant different kinds of vegetables and how to take
care of them. They are the one who watered and took care of vegetables planted in the
school- like okra, stringbeans, alugbati, eggplants, sili, upo and patola.
The production of fruits and vegetables in the school garden and the subsequent
preparation of healthy in close cooperation with the parents within the school premises
can address the health and nutrition problems in the school. But the greater problem of
malnutrition, especially among children is that it ultimately leads to stunted mental and
physical growth, poor comprehension and lower performance in school. According to
the teachers, many children come to school with an empty stomach. Hungry, unhealthy
children cannot concentrate on learning.
The vegetables that were being harvested were used in the Free Feeding
Program and through this program, our pupils became healthier, attentive and they are
performing better in school.
Pupils not only learned how to reproduce vegetables but they were encouraged
to eat green and leafy vegetables as well. So, vegetable production through Elementary
Agriculture must be given emphasis.
