1 WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN
POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR.
WARNING: ONLY REMOVE ONE WHEEL AND TIRE ASSEMBLY FROM THE MAIN
LANDING GEAR AT THE SAME TIME. IF YOU REMOVE THE TWO
WHEEL AND TIRE ASSEMBLIES AT THE SAME TIME, DAMAGE TO
THE AIRCRAFT AND INJURY TO PERSONS CAN OCCUR.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS.
OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND
YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
A. Safety Precautions
(1) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to
operate
the landing gear.
(2) Make sure that the wheel chocks are in position.
B. Wheel Assembly Check
NOTE: Do this check before you remove the wheel.
CAUTION: TIRES ON WHEEL ASSEMBLIES WITH MISSING, BROKEN OR
LOOSE TIE- BOLTS MUST BE DEFLATED BEFORE AXLE
NUT IS LOOSENED. FAILURE TO DEFLATE TIRE BEFORE
AXLE NUT IS REMOVED CAN RESULT IN INJURY SHOULD
WHEEL SEPARATE.
(1) Do a check of the wheel assembly for missing, broken or loose tie-bolts.

D. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration


(1) Make sure that the safety devices are installed on the landing gears
(Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
Make sure that the PARK BRK control switch is set to ON.
NOTE: On the panel 400VU, make sure that the brake pressure indication on
the Yellow brake-pressure triple indicator is correct. If necessary,
pressurize the brake accumulator with the Yellow pump (Ref. AMM
TASK 29-10-00-863-002) . or (Ref. AMM TASK 29-24-00-863-001) .
(2) Jacking for main gear wheel change
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE AIRCRAFT IS STABLE AND DOES NOT
MOVE DURING THE JACKING OPERATIONS.
IF THERE IS UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE AIRCRAFT, THE
LANDING-GEAR JACKING DOME CAN COME OFF THE JACK
HEAD AND INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE CAN OCCUR.
(a) Lift the related axle with a jack (Ref. AMM TASK 07-12-00-582-002).
NOTE: Airbus recommends that you do not do operations that can change
the weight or stability of the aircraft during jacking (gate
docking,fueling/defueling, loading/unloading, etc.).

(3) Put the PARK BRK control switch to the ON position.

Cont NOTE: On the right center instrument panel 400VU, make sure that the
1 brake pressure indication on the Yellow brake-pressure triple
indicator is correct. If necessary, pressurize the brake
accumulator with the Yellow pump (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-
863-002) or (Ref. AMM TASK 29-24-00-863-001) .
(4) Fully deflate the tire.
NOTE: If you must remove the wheel for access or inspections, it is not
necessary to deflate the tire if:
- The tire is in the correct condition.
- The tire pressure is in the normal operating range (Ref. AMM TASK
32-41-00-210-003).
If you do not have these two conditions, you must deflate the tire.
2 A. Preparation of the Wheel before Removal
(1) Remove the fan. RII
(a) Release the tab-washers (14).
(b) Remove the screw (15).
Remove and discard the tab-washers (14).
(c) Remove the debris guard (16) along the centerline of the wheel axle to
prevent damage to the drive shaft of the tachometer.
(d) Remove the shroud (12).
(e) Remove the impeller (13).
- Remove the lockwire from the nut (18) and discard it.
- Lock the impeller (13) with DISASSEMBLY TOOL (MG174-04).
- Remove the nut (18), the washer (19) and the impeller (13).
(2) Remove the joint.
(a) Loosen the screw (21).
(b) Remove the clamp (9).
(c) Remove the joint (10).
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU REMOVE/INSTALL THE WHEEL
AND TIRE ASSEMBLY TO PREVENT INJURY TO PERSONS
AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE WHEEL, AXLE OR OTHER
EQUIPMENT.THE ASSEMBLY IS VERY HEAVY (BETWEEN 130
KG AND 200KG (290 LBS AND 440 LBS)).
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE AXLE THREAD PROTECTOR IS
CORRECTLY INSTALLED ON THE AXLE.
YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE AXLE SLEEVE WHEN
YOU
REMOVE/INSTALL A WHEEL IF THE AXLE THREAD
PROTECTOR IS:
- NOT USED.
- NOT FULLY ENGAGED ON THE AXLE. RII
B. Removal of the Wheel
(1) Remove and discard the cotter pins (4) and the nuts (5).
(2) Remove the washer (6) and the bolts (8).
(3) Remove the axle nut (7) with the ADAPTOR-MLG (H47682).
Install the PROTECTOR (F46754-1000).
(4) Apply a thin layer of Material No. 03GBB1 (Synthetic Oil base Grease-
General Purpose Clay Thickened -) on the axle protector.
(5) Put a standard wheel R & I dolly below the wheel.
