PROJECT PROPOSAL
I. BASIC INFORMATION
a. Title : Project “Reduce, recycle, reuse, Innovate, Sell and Earn (RISE)
through Proper Waste Management“
II. RATIONALE
Brief Introduction
The youth are the future stewards of environment, thus they have vital role in the
community and in the protection of the environment. Undoubtedly, Environmental management
is one of the science tenets that focus on learners and environmental education. We educate our
students to understand waste segregation as the power to effectively change make our school a
second home.
Waste production for the past years is considered one of the major problems that every
country and any community face. Since population in the whole world increases, it is
accompanied by increasing volume of wastes produced each day. These wastes include
biodegradable and non biodegradable. Many efforts were done by the government and local
communities to address this issue. But the fact that more and more wastes are being produced as
years passed by, it seems more effort is required to collectively solve problems on waste
production.
San Isidro Integrated School is not an exemption to this. Being an institution that molds
young minds, instilling among students the sense of being environment stewards and protectors
is one challenge that needs immediate attention and action. During the early operation of the
school, many problems were encountered in terms of waste management. Being situated in an
area where there is no regular collection of wastes from the City government, the process of
managing wastes seems to be a big challenge.
In line with this, the Science Department, through the initiative, support and guidance of
the school head, and with the help of the YOUTH for Environment in Schools Organization
(YES-O) and Supreme Students Government Organization (SSGO) launched the Project RISE
(Reduce, Recycle, Reuse, Innovate, Sell and Earn) through Proper Waste Management..This
year, it is being launch with an aim of achieving a ZERO Waste Management and to earn.

A continuous monitoring and evaluation of the program will still be there. An income
was sought to be generated from the program. From these funds, different projects will be
proposed such as construction of Science and YES-O Garden harvesting, school supplies for the
well deserve students and trash bins for the school.
The Project RISE through Waste Management does not only focus in proper waste
management and collection procedures. It also seeks to comply with the RA 9003, popularly
known as the Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.
III. OBJECTIVES
The objective of this project is to establish among students the proper practice waste
management and disposal practices and instil in them the need to be an environment stewards
and protectors.
A. Management Aspect
This project commenced from the Project RISE through proper Waste Management
when problems from waste management became one of the challenge that the school
administrators and faculty surfaced. Every year since its implementation, many revisions were
made and applied for the program to be more applicable to the existing situation within the
school.
This program sought to start REDUCING waste in the first place, before the REUSE
and RECYCLE of the popular 3R practice.
B. Manpower Requirement
The school has an active Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (YES-O) that
led the students in implementing the program. This is with the help and guidance of the Science
teachers, TLE teachers, Class advisers and coordinators.also plays an important role in
achieving the ultimate goal of the program.
Teachers Participation
Stakeholders Participation
Support and assist the students in collecting junk materials.
Campaign for proper waste management in their own community or houses.
Coordinate and cooperate actively with the school regarding the program.
Technical Aspect

adviser will take charge in collecting and monitoring the waste collection.
Since the program is only to be implemented this school year, and we all know that it
was proven that wastes collection is a potential source of income. This project is seen to be an
income generating one. Part of the proceeds will be utilized in rewarding school supplies to a
selected students. The remaining proceeds will be used in purchasing materials needed for the
school beautification program and other school needs.
