1 WM Case Study 1

In the first challenge the objective was to order water bottles and road helmets from
the supplier Spy Gear. The quantity requested was about 50 pieces of each type of
product. The price of the water bottle was equal to 11 USD on the other hand the
cost of the road helmet was 27 USD. The lead time to deliver the trading goods are 8
days. After the goods arrived in the Distribution Center in San Diego they need to be
moved in two different bins.

The first step, to start the procurement process, is creating a purchase order for
materials from the supplier. Because we are ordering goods from Spy Gear, we
needed to find the company’s code for the vendor.

We had to find the right materials in the section “Item Overview” and then insert the
“Net Prices”: for the water bottle 11 USD, for the road helmet 27 USD. Next, In PO
Quantity the quantity requested: 50 each one.

After saving the procedure, the program shows a pop up message saying that a
Standard Purchase Order was created. Then click on the icon home to return to the
Fiori Launchpad overview.

After that, we had to display the material inventory for water bottles and helmets.
We typed the name of the material to proceed and view the display.

Also needed to view the values of my material inventory in the app Display
Warehouse Stock.

Then click on the icon home to return to the Fiori Launchpad overview.

After we check the display, we had to create a goods receipt which documents the
receiving of the materials in San Diego. To do that we have to access in the app Post

Goods Movement.

By doing this the system assigned a unique material document number:

After this we have to display the inventory of our material again and check.

To place the goods into the storage bin, I had to create a transfer order. By doing
this the system recognizes that there are goods that have been received but need to
be put away. In this step I made a mistake that I put water bottles and helmets into
one storage bin together with elbow- and knee pads. I could not find two empty
storage bins while performing this step. But after that I realized where and why I did
this mistake. The results of this process can be seen from the picture below:

2 WM Case Study 2

In the challenge was not possible to order any silver Deluxe Touring Bikes from the
plant in Dallas. We found out some problems with one of the assembly lines because
there were no free resources available. In order to respect the lead-time and so,
have 50 silver Deluxe Touring Bikes (estimation by the management) in San Diego, it
was needed to order them from the plant in Heidelberg (Germany). The delivery time
was 10 days maximum. As soon as the goods arrive in DC in San Diego they needed
to be stored in the same bin where the silver Touring Bikes from this case study
already are.
First of all, we check the stock overview in Heidelberg plant, to be sure that there
were enough bikes so I could create a stock transport order. After that, we had to
use the app Create Purchase Order and choose Stock Transp. Order. This was
fundamental so the supplying plant code is HD00. The toughest part here was to find
the code for silver Deluxe Touring Bikes because in the beginning it only showed the
code for black bikes.

Using the app Display Stock Overview to see that I had an On-Order Stock balance of
50 for the distribution center in San Diego. If that was right, I had to issue the goods
requested from Heidelberg plant to the distribution center in San Diego using the
app Post Goods Movement.

After the goods had arrived it was necessary to place the goods into the storage bin
by creating a transfer order. By doing this the system recognizes that there are goods
that have been received but need to be put away. In this step needed to make sure
to choose the correct storage bin.
After that step we needed to confirm the transfer order that the goods are physically
in the storage bin as indicated in the previous step.
In the end needed to run a bin status report which displayed a detailed report of
each storage bin within the warehouse. My bin status report in this case study:

3 Conclusion

At the beginning it was hard to understand the SAP system, interface and
environment. Even if the guidelines were very well done it was still difficult
sometimes to find the errors and how to deal with errors. Learning is a process that
takes time, and after a while of exercising on Fiori, the thing has become easier and
more comfortable. The mistakes helped me to strive and improve. Now I have a good
experience of using the SAP system for logistics processes.

In the case studies, it was also required to use the app Learning Snack WM In order
to test and consolidate my knowledge. The screenshot of my first attempt of the test:
