1 PROJECT TITLE: - STUDENT INFORMATION MANAGEMENT
SYSTEM FOR GERESU DUKI HIGH SCHOOL
1.1 Statement of problem

The manual student information management system is time taking, unqualified, costly and
not satisfactory. Due to this reason the existing manual processing has the following
noticeable problems.
 Students cannot get information about their school from their home they should
contact the school physically for to get information about school and see their result.
 Searching student file is difficult. One has to look through all file to get a single
student file. It is very boring, takes a lot of time and may not be found.
1.2 Objective of the project

1.2.1 General objective
The main objective of the project is to develop web-based student information management
system for geresu duki high school
1.2.2 Specific objective

To achieve the general objectives of the project, the proposed system consists of the
following specific objectives: -
 To analysis the system.
 Study the existing system and find out the problem.
 To develop student offline registration.
 To implement and Test the system.
1.3 Functional requirements

The functional requirement for the system describes the functionally or services that the
system is expected to provide. Functional requirement for a software system may be
expressed in a number of different student information management systems.
The developed systems provide the following functionalities:
 Enable record officers, parents and students to view student transcript online.
 Enable students, teachers and parents to view student comment.
 Allow student, parent and teachers to view student report card securely.
 Displays new posted information.

2.1 Statement of the problem

The major problems associated with in the current systems are the following: The user
does not access detail information about the price of drug, reservation and get list of
drugs immediately. If the luqas drug store want to know what type of drug are found,
how much drugs are found in the store and all information of drugs that are in/out from
stock were recorded in file, no notify to remind for the critical quantity of each drug and
to remind for the expired data of each drug.
 Lack of access to detail information about the price of drug.

 Lack of a way to reservation and get list of drugs immediately.
 Lack of stock detail information management.
2.2 Objective
2.2.1 General objective
The general objective of this project is to develop web-based drug store information
management system for luqas Drug store.
2,2,2 Specific objective

Specific objectives are the sub tasks that pave the way to reach at our main goal.
They are supporters of the general objective. There are specific goals that we have to
achieve in order to meet the general objective
 To provide easily portable and used by any user who has access to get
internet. (app)
 To develop a database that keep the overall records associated with
Drugs.
 To develop alerting/notification system for stock shortage and expire date
of drugs.
 To allow admin update drugs list in to the stock when stock is empty or
reached minimum quantity and also when it is expired.
2,3 Functional requirements of the proposed system
These requirements which are the basic for the system or simply functional requirements that
the system must satisfy. These groups of requirement stress functionality that the system
should support for the user.
 The system is operationally all over the year.

 The system should validate data entered by the user.
 The system shall allow the user to reserve drug.
 The system shall allow the user to display information about Drug.
 The system shall store all the data related with all the tasks performed into a
database.
 When failures happen, the system shall be recoverable. When team member
stands to develop a system, they must have to use a backup mechanism.

3, Project title: -Online Examination System (OES) for Ambo University woliso campus
3.1 Statement of the problem
Ambo University woliso campus, as a higher education institute performs examination

process that instructors give the exam papers to students manually. As a starting point for
problem definition, we tried to see how the examination process was involved in the
University.
We recognized that there are many problems in terms of examination giving process with
required quality in the university. Generally, we have noticed the following problems.
 There is high cost to buy copy machines, printers, papers for hard copy as well
as payment for duplicators and invigilators.
 High human power wastage.
 Wastage of time to print and to wait for copying in duplicate office.
3,2 Objective of the Project
3.2.1 General Objectives of the Project
The general objectives of this project is to develop and implement a web-based examination
system for ambo University woliso campus.
3.2.2 Specific Objectives of the Project

 The specific objectives of Online Examination System for Ambo University woliso
campus project is:
 To make the process time and cost effective and efficient.
 To enable student to use their time properly while taking exam (timer will start
automatically and show the student how much time is left).
 To solve problems of students forgetting to write their name and ID on the exam paper.
 To enable the students to get exam result from the system as soon as they finish exam.
3.3 Functional requirements
The user requirement for this system is to make the system fast, flexible, less prone to error,
reduce expenses and save the time. Using the online examination system the following
functional requirements are performed by each actors of the system.
 The system administrator should be able to manage account of users,

colleges/institutes, departments, courses and exams by logging into the
system.
 Instructors should be able to manage questions by logging in to the system
by selecting institute/college, department and courses.
 The Exam committees should be able to check the exam prepared by
instructors and approve the exam.
 Student should be able to take exam and submit answer to the system by
his own user account and password.
