I would firstly like to say thanks to God for giving me the strength, knowledge, health and

understanding to complete this School Based Assessment (S.B.A). Secondly I would like to

thank Mrs Arnold- Forbes for guiding me throughout this School Based Assessment (S.B.A). I

would like to thank my mother for guiding and motivating me throughout this project. Also I

would like to thank my friends who take time out of their busy schedule to assist me with the

Introduction

This project is about the recruiting and selecting of workers in a firm. This process is very

important, since selecting the best staff that will enable the business to achieve its goal. The

method the researcher used to collect data are questionnaires, the questionnaires was used

because it’s an easy mean of collecting data from respondent in a survey. These Questionnaires

will be analysed and findings will be made based on the topic been selected.

jobs at your Hotel. We are students at the Little London High School and this is a part of my

School Based Assessment (S.B.A) on the subject of Office Administration. We have to do this

observation in order to complete my (S.B.A) and we chose this Hotel because it is easier for us

Methodology

I met with the HR Manager of the Human Resource Department who introduce me to the staff

members, after that I began my investigation. I had to do it in order to collect my investigation.

I gave out questionnaires later to collect information. Questionnaires assisted me in collecting

my information. Each person was given questionnaire on the 7th of February, 2020 that was to be

completed and returned to me within (4) days, they are not allowed to write their name on the

questionnaire so no one will know who answer the questionnaire.

There was a total of 12 questionnaire handed out to 12 staff members including the manager of

the Human Resource Department.

Regulation

In any organization there are rules and regulation that have to be followed in the business and by

staff members, visitors and the customer. The rule and regulation are listed below:

Regulation:

Staff rule:

 The employee can only use staff bathroom.


 All employee have the same lunch break.

Health and Safety:

 Fire extinguish are in the right place in the organisation.

Report

Recruitment and Selection refers to the process of attracting and selecting qualified people for a

position while incorporating employment equity principles and practices. The reason I had

research this organisation is because it has many different services such as Chefs, House

Keeping, etc. I had choose this business for my research because it is an eminent Hotel that has

progress significantly since upgrading in infrastructure and hiring more qualified workers. Over

the past five (5) years this business has introduce new procedures within the recruitment and

selection process. The investigation that was carried out showed that the introduction of new

procedures within the Human Resources Department plays in a very important role in the

organisation. From the observation made, this has showed that the manager doesn’t haste to

maintain all selection process on his own. Also the Human Resources Department refers to the

business of full range of assistance service to alleviate the organisation income new employees’

burdens.

Limitation

One of the major problem that were faced in the completion of this research is the schedule of

activity. To the fact that the manager and the workers of the organisation did not have any time

to assist me throughout the completion the schedule of activities. This process of collecting data

was very difficult.

Recommendation

The office efficiency can be improved with technology by:

 Putting printers in every office.

 Putting computers in each office.

 Putting cameras in every office.
