Semi - Detailed Lesson Plan in Tle-Ict (CSS)

This document outlines a lesson plan for teaching students how to set up computer networks by creating straight-through Type A cables. The objectives are for students to learn the steps, create a cable, and understand the importance of network cables. The lesson involves defining key terms, watching an instructional video in groups, and each group practicing making a cable. Students will be evaluated on arranging the cable-making steps correctly and answering questions about cable uses and types.

SEMI - DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN TLE-ICT (CSS)

CONTENT STANDARD
 The learners demonstrate an understanding of concepts and principles in setting up computer
networks (Cable splicing and cable testing)
PERFORMANCE STANDARD
 The learners shall be able to set up computer networks based established procedures and system
requirements for hardware
I. SPECIFIC LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, at least 85% of the students are expected to:
1. Familiarize the steps Straight-through Type A Computer Network Cabling
2. Create a Straight-through Type A Cable
3. Cite the importance of Network Cables

II. SUBJECT MATTER

1. Topic: Network Cabling (Straigth-through Type A)

2. Reference: http//computerhope.com
3. Materials:
Laptop, projector, white screen
4. Concept:
Network cables are used to connect and transfer data and information between
computers, routers, switches and storage area networks. These cables are essentially the
carrier or media through which data flows
5. Values integration:
Cooperation, Obedience, Teamwork, Appreciation
6. Teaching Method/Strategy:
4A’s (Activity, Analysis, Abstraction, and Application)

III. PROCEDURE
A. Preliminary Activities
 Prayer
 Checking of Attendance
 Review

B. Motivational Activity
 The game is entitled “I arrange”. The students will watch a video. After watching, they will
arrange the strips of colored paper based from the video that they have watched. After
arranging, they will post it on the board. The group who will post it first will be the winner.

C. Lesson Proper
1. Presentation of the Learning Objectives:
At the end of the lesson the students are expected to:
1. Familiarize the steps in UTP Computer Network Cabling
2. Create a Straight-through Type A Cable
3. Cite the purposes and importance of Network Cables

2. Vocabulary to ponder
Network-is a group of computers that use a set of common communication
protocols over digital interconnections for the purpose of sharing resources
Cable-hardware used to connect one network device to other network devices
or to connect two or more computers
Crimp-affixing a connector(RJ45) to the end of a cable

3. Activity
 The class will be divided into 3 groups.
 The students will watch a video about UTP network Cabling. Each group will list down the
steps in network cabling according to the video they have watched.
 Each group must have a representative to present their work in front of the class.

4. Analysis
 Ask:
 How did you find the activity?
 What strategies did you use to answer the activity?
 What do you think about the instructions?
 What do you think will happen if you will not follow the procedures?
 What safety precautions will you give out of the procedures?

5. Abstraction
Discuss the following important points.
1. Prepare the network cabling tools and materials
UTP cable, RJ45, crimping tool, wire stripper and LAN tester
2. Strip the cable end. Strip 1-1 ½ of insulating sheath. Avoid cutting into conductor
insulation
3. Untwist wire ends
4. Arrange wires
White-green, green, white orange, white-blue, blue, orange, white-brown, brown
5. Trim wires to size
Trim all wires evenly. Leave about ½ of wires exposed
6. Attach connector.
7. Check the wires if it is extended to end
8.Crimp the RJ45. Squeeze firmly to crimp connecter onto the cable end
9. Do the same procedure to the other end of the cable
10. Test the cable if it is working.

6. Application
The class will be divided into 3 groups. Each group will make a straight through type A
network cable.

A. Arrange the steps in UTP Computer Network Cabling. Use number to indicate your answer.
____Attach connector
____check the wires
____crimp the RJ45
____test the UTP cable
____strip the cable end
____untwist wire end
____arrange wires
____trim wires to size

V. ASSIGNMENT
1. What are the uses of UTP straight-through A network cable?
2. What is the color pattern for UTP straight-through B network cable?
3. What are the steps in making UTP straight-through B network cable?
