TEACHING DEMO / LESSON PLAN

PRESERVICE Millanes, Levine A.

TEACHER’S NAME:
YEAR AND SECTION: BEED 1-1D
DATE: February 22, 2020

CLASS DETAILS
GRADE: Five 3rd Quarter
SCIENCE STRAND: Force and Motion
TYPE OF CLASS: Diverse
LESSON CONTENT: Measuring time and distance using standard units
CONTENT STANDARDS: The learners demonstrate understanding of Motion in terms of distance
and time

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS: The learners should be able to propose an unusual tool or device using
Motion that is useful for home, school or community
LEARNING COMPETENCY: The learners should be able to:
 Describe the motion of an object by tracing and measuring its
change in position (distance travelled) over a period of time
 Use appropriate measuring tools and correct standard units
LEARNING MATERIALS: Science Manual. 012- 013.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
1. To explain distance, speed and time in regards to motion.
2. To identity different standard units.
3. To use appropriate measuring tools and correct standard units in measuring the motion of objects
in terms of how far they travel (distance) in a certain amount of time and speed.

EQUIPMENT
Power point presentation Stopwatch
Projector Books
Laptop Marble
Meter stick Chalk

KEYTERMS
Measure Distance
Standard units Time
Speed Force

REMARKS:
SPRINGBOARD ACTIVITY/MOTIVATION/OPENING LESSON

 Greetings
 Checking of attendance
 Pep talk
 Recall of previous lessons
 The teacher will call out 4 students and invite them to come to the front. They will do a race 2 vs 2,
the teacher will instruct the students to go to any corner of the room with their corresponding
partner and stay in position. The students will do the race via walking like running type of race, the
first one to get to the finished line will be the winner.

BODY OF THE LESSON/LESSON PROPER/CONTENT

 The teacher will discuss what is distance, speed and time and how they are interconnected to one
another.
 The teacher will introduce corresponding standard units to help them measure distance, speed and
time according to their proper uses.
 The teacher will also tackles about the formula and how to solve the distance, speed and time.
 The teacher will provide various examples and scenarios that will help the student to visualize the
concept of distance, speed and time with the use of standard units.

GUIDED PRACTICE
 The teacher will ask the student to form a group of three. Every group will have a meter stick, chalk,
stop watch, books, and a piece of marble. Then the student will place the book under the legs of the
table and they will measure how far, how fast (I think this is constant) and how many second/s will
the marble takes to roll down the table by using the materials provided by the teacher. The students
will record or list down their observation.

INDEPENDENT WORKING TIME

 The teacher will give an individual activity by answering the application of motion, distance and time
to their everyday activity. At least give 5 examples for each item.

Example:
1. Motion- Running, playing seesaw, jumping in any direction and etc.
2. Distance- I walked from my house up to the school
3. Time- I played video games for about 30 mins

ASSESSMENT
 The teacher will hand over an individual worksheet to the student. They will be answering 5
questions with solution and proper unit for designated standard (distance, speed, time)

COUNT ME IN!

Direction: Answer the following questions below, provide a solution and proper units.

1. A bicycle travels at a constant speed of 20m per second. How far will the bicycle travel in 15s?

2. How long would it take the car to travel 190m if it was moving at a speed of 20m per second?

3. If a bus travels at 500m in 10s, what is the speed of the bus?

4. Hereninia is running at a speed of 2m per second. At what distance will Hereninia travel in 45s?

5 .Suraj drives first 120 km in 2 hrs and next 180 km in next 4 hrs. What is his average speed for the entire
trip in km per hour?

ANSWER KEY:

1. Formula: D= S x T
Solution: D= 20 meters per second x 15 seconds
D= 300 meters

2. Formula: T= D/S
Solution: T= 190 meters / 20 meters per second
T= 9.5 seconds

3. Formula: S= D/T
Solution: S= 500 meters / 10 seconds
S= 50 meters per second

4. Formula: D= S x T
Solution: D= 2 meters per second x 45 seconds
D= 90 meters

5. Formula: S= D/T
Solution: S= 300 kilometers / 6 hours
S= 50 kilometers per hour

REMARKS:
CLARIFICATIONS/WRAP UP/ CLOSING
 After assessing the paper, the teacher will call 2-3 students to give their insights and observation to
what they have learned from today’s lesson.
 The teacher will give them an assignment to bring any object (2) that can produce light for the next
lesson; Light and Sound, Heat and Electricity.

DISMISSAL
 The teacher will ask for any further clarification or concern about the lesson.
 The teacher will ask the student to pick up any small pieces of trash.
 Greet the student before dismissing the class.
