Detailed Lesson Plan

Grade 6 (7 E’s)

I. Objectives:
At the end of a 30-minute discussion, 90 percent of Grade 6 – Cooperative will
be able to:
a) classify animals whether they are vertebrates or invertebrates;
b) determine the distinguishing characteristics of vertebrates and
invertebrates;
c) make an inventory of vertebrate and invertebrate animals that are
commonly seen in the community.

II. Subject Matter:


a) Animals;
b) References: The New Science Links Worksheet;
c) Concept:
d) Materials: Microsoft PowerPoint, visual aids;
e) Value focus: love and care to animals
f) Time allotment: 1 session (30 minutes)

III. Learning Procedure:

a. Elicit:

b. Engage:

Before we go to our new lesson, we


will have a short game. Our game is (Children listen to
called “Pass the Basket”. I want you to the instruction)
form a big circle. Give the basket that
contains different kinds of animals to
the person to your right while singing
the song “The Wheels on the Bus”. If
I say stop, the person who is holding the
basket will pick one picture inside the
basket and describe it.
So, are you ready? Yes, we are ready.

c. Explore:
Very good children. I’m glad that you have
the idea of our lesson today. Now, we will
have another activity. I will divide you into (Children listen
two groups. The first group will list down and internalize the
5 vertebrate animals and 5 invertebrate instruction.)

identify if the given pictures of animals are
vertebrates or invertebrates. Each group must
choose their representative to speak and share
their thoughts of what they have observed in
our activity.
