I. Introduction
Sulo Elementary School, also known as Little Red School House, is located on a
hill. It is located on a hill. It is a multi-grade school and a recipient school of Coca-Cola
Company. It is currently administered by Ms. Zosilit B. Mabale, the school-in-charge.
The school has a total land area of 8, 286 square meters. It has five (5) teachers and
103 pupils. It has four (4) different school buildings around the area.
The school has just recently been recognized as one of the best schools in the
Division of Misamis Oriental under the small school category. Through the active
participation of the teachers and undying support of the parents, Barangay Council and
other stakeholders, such recognition was achieved.
The school aims to provide quality education to the pupils of Sulo. It promotes
good rapport between the teachers and other stakeholders. Thus, stakeholders positive
responses to the different programs and projects implemented resulted to the progress
and success of the school.
The school also provides accurate and advance learning strategies through the
use of technologies and other appropriate instructional materials. Remedial instructions
were also conducted for learners who have difficulty in coping up with their lessons.
Thus, an action research that focuses on reading and comprehension were conducted
to help lessen the difficulties and problems experienced by the teachers and learners.
Sulo Elementary Schools teachers were also encouraged to attend trainings and
seminars. They were trained and oriented with the K to 12 program of the Department
and on how to handle 21st century learners.
All the programs and activities in the school were thoroughly planned and
discussed by the teachers and parents for betterment and welfare of the learners.
The primary role of the school is to provide quality education for the learners
regardless of their economic status. The learners have the right to education so they
must be given the basic and necessary academic entities the department can offer.
To ensure quality education for the learners, teachers were exposed and have
undertaken special trainings and seminars for professional growth. One of the programs
implemented for the teachers was the School Learning Action Cell (SLAC). The conduct
of the SLAC helped teachers to be enriched with the needed information they need to
grow as a professional. It alleviates the confidence and professionalism of teachers to
potentially grow their interest in the academe in providing appropriate and standardized
teaching strategies.
In improving the physical aspects of the school, parents and other stakeholders
were encouraged to participate in the monthly “pahina” through beautification and
landscaping.
The first and second quarter of S.Y. 2017-2018 of Sulo ES did not reach the
75% of the total achievement rate in all grade level which is below average. The results
implied a more strategic teaching styles of our teachers for diverse learners. Because of
the poor performance during the 1st and 2nd quarter, the teachers of Sulo Elementary
School commit to bridge the solution as well as uplifting teachers’ efficiency in teaching
through:
Conducting Action Research in every grade level to determine the problem and
be able to look for an appropriate intervention.
Conducting School Learning Action Cell (SLAC) every Friday afternoon for
teachers to be updated and enriched with the educational system.
Classroom monitoring and observation to help teachers improve his/herself
through coaching and feed backing.
Integrating ICT in the delivery of the lesson to motivate learners’ interests in
learning.
Participating in all school related programs such as quiz bee, MTAP and
Journalism. Learners should also be encouraged to participate in social activities
such as barangay and municipal activities to level social participation of the
community to the school.
The physical development of the school also affects the performance of the
teachers and learners. Thus, the government provides every school a certain
allocation known as the MOOE to realize projects and to be able to provide
classroom and office supplies for the teachers and learners for better instruction.
The provision of the school physical attribute like school buildings, school
supplies and services always depend on the total population of the school in a year.
School Year 2017-2018 has a total enrolment of 103 pupils. Thus, the school is
committed to:

May iba’t ibang palatuntunan at patimpalak

S.Y. 2017 - 2018
Educators believe that environment plays a big part in pupils· learning. And so, if classrooms
are not conducive to learning because of poor condition and some defective school facilities,
education is hindered.
The Department of Education conducted this year’s Brigada Eskwela, also known as the
National Schools Maintenance Week on May 15-20, 2017 where all education stakeholders
contributed their time, effort and resources in ensuring that the school facilities are ready in time
for the school opening.
As early as March, Ms. Zosilit B. Mable and teachers of Sulo Elementary School recruited
volunteers who would participate in the brigade. Parents and other people from the community
were encouraged to join the week - long annual program. Since no national government money
was put into Brigada Eskwela (because there was simply no budget for that purpose), private
businesses, NGO·s, private individuals and local government were tapped to solicit donations to
cover the effort of repair and maintenance of the school. It was on April when the school
physical facilities coordinator and some PTA members performed a school ocular to identify the
school facilities that need repair and maintenance. After this, the steering committee planned
different schools activities for Brigada Eskwela.
Early morning of May 15, the teachers of Sulo Elementary School held a parade that signaled
the start of Brigada Eskwela. After the parade a short program followed. The presence of
different groups of volunteers was acknowledged. Short orientation about the mechanics of the
6th day activity was given by Ms. Zosilit B. Mabale. Finally the opening of the Brigada Eskwela
was announced. The willing, ready and able brigade included zealous teachers, enthusiastic
parents, excited students, and other concern people of the community. Cleaning of the school
surroundings and rehabilitation of the school garden were assigned to some mothers who found
true enjoyment in doing their tasks. All the members of the brigade worked tirelessly for one
week. They did all that and more with an enviable spirit of camaraderie.
May 20, was the last day of the week long activity. Through the overwhelming support of the
volunteers, the classrooms are restructured and spruced up. All school facilities are now in good
condition. The school surrounding is now free from tall grasses. Generally, the school is now
ready for the school opening.

Earthquake is one of the famous disasters that caused people died or injured. It
cannot be detected when and where it would be happened to anyone. This is mostly
happened in places where people are hanging around and working. Earthquake is
understood by being a natural phenomenon caused by the constant movements of the
earth’s crustal plates and due to climate change too.
Before the conduct of the earthquake drill, Mr. Magbago instructed all the pupils
and teachers in attendance of what to do in case of a disaster like an earthquake. On
March 31, a siren sound blurted for one minute as a signal that an earthquake is
currently happening. Everybody in their respective classes ducked and covered
themselves under their armchairs and tables. After that, the teachers led their advisory
classes in heading to the designated evacuation area. They were grouped together
according to the class where they belong.

natural and man-made disasters like earthquake and fire, Sulo Elementary School
conducted its quarterly fire drill last March 15 at exactly 9 o’clock in the morning. SFO1
Paquito S. Pamisa together with his colleague FO3 Rex G. Arbuis, led the activity with
the teachers and their respective classes. The drill was carried out simultaneously and
smoothly. All the pupils occupied their designated areas based on the school
evacuation plan.
Before the conduct of fire drill, SFO1 Paquito S. Pamisa had an orientation
about the different classes of fire and on how to put it off. After that he instructed all the
pupils and teachers on what to do when you’re in a fire scene. The said activity was
quite successful.

As teachers, we all value these essential skills: reflecting on one's practice, listening
carefully to students, and communicating in an authentic way. These same skills are crucial to
establishing and maintaining a healthy relationship with a partner school—we must reflect on
our own circumstances, including our hopes for the partnership and any specific needs and
constraints we may have; listen carefully to our colleagues at our partner school; and convey
thoughts and information about our situation honestly. This transparency is essential from the
