We are fourth year Electrical & computer Engineering student in WolaitaSodo University. We have been assigned
in Ethiopia Power Engineering Indusrry; Addis Ababa from Appry 10,2014 to Sep ,2021 under the guidance of
instructor G. Specifically, We have been working in department of Tatek Transformer production factory we

First of all, I would like to thank the almighty God for giving us the health and ability to do this work.

extensive knowledge, advice &creative thinking have been invaluable help through we work support through all
time .and all the staffs of working on work shope , Also, I would like to thank Engineer Abu for his teaching
about transformer design .
Finally, I would like to say thank you for the Engineers of Ethio-Engineering Group,all the technicians in Tatek
Transformer production Workshop and all the employees of that factory for their support.
Executive Summary
Internship is a period of work experience offered by an organization for a limited period of time. The purpose of
qualified internship is to come up with practical as well as organized working system experience & also allow the
students to implement their theoretical knowledge in the working environment. It provide interns with the ability to
participate in the field of their choice to receive hands-on learning about a particular future career & preparing them
for full-time work following graduation needing little or no training.

The main objective of internship program is to give interns an opportunity to implement their theoretical
knowledge in theworking area andto make a smooth transition from educational environment to the real life
working environment

1.BACKGROUND OF EEG
Introduction
Ethio – Engineering Group (EEG):
Ethio-Engineering Group (EEG) is a Governmental   business enterprise re-established in September 2020 under the
FDRE Council of Ministers regulation No. 475/2020.

The Main purpose of the re-establishment of the group is to enable it play a leading role in the development of heavy
industries in the country towards meeting the national vision of transforming to an industrial-led economy.

EEG is, therefore, engaged, among others, in manufacturing and trading of automotive products, Agricultural machineries,
Construction machineries, power and electronics equipment, metal and metal products, and Plastic and polymer products.

Currently, it has nine subsidiary industries that have their own manufacturing facilities in different parts of the country.
These are Akaki Basic Metal Industry, Metals Fabrication Industry, Construction Machinery Manufacturing Industry,
Electronic Equipment Manufacturing Industry, Power Equipment Manufacturing Industry, Addis Machineries and Spare
parts Manufacturing Industry, Adama Agricultural Machinery Manufacturing Industry, Ethiopia -Plastics Industry and
Bishoftu Automotive Manufacturing Industry.

Ethio-Engineering Group is working under a free market norms and standards with special commitments to
enable domestic and foreign investors enjoy partnership and cooperation.

Background and Establishment


Ethiopia Power Engineering Industry (EPEI) is established under METEC in 2010, located in Addis Ababa “lebu” area. The industry
contains seven manufacturing factories: transformer production factory, wire and cable production factory, automatic power factor
corrector and compact substation production factory, solar panel production factory, motor and generator production factory, engine
production factory and turbine production factory. EPEI is constructing a number of power generation and electrical grid equipment
manufacturing plants all over the country for micro, small and medium scale business associations.

Objectives of Ethio Engineering Group Research & Development Center.
The main objectives of the center are derived from EEG’s objectives.

These are:-

 To perform plant and faciliteies design, draft technical specifications of product components, designing production technologies,
preparing related technology and production documents.
 To study the actual and future needs of the manufacturing industries with in EEG and to design and develop technological
products and production systems that will accelerate production and service.
 Linkge with universties, local and foreign technology institutions in collaboration to enable and expand technology capacity.
 Identify / select high-tech products that make a difference in the organization’s products and services, conduct detailed research,
develop and transfer technology.
 Identify the growth indicators of the organization and formulate the technical and technological content of the implementation
plans.
 Mission of the Center
Enrich and transfer technologies that accelerate the growth of the manufacturing industry, and the service sector.
 To study, enrich and develop technological and production practices for domestic products that create huge market gaps, require
high foreign exchange, and play an important role in national economic development;
 Perform design and modification of production plants, production technology and  systems;
 Review the company’s products and services in terms of upcoming technology and indicate  improved products and serviceto be
improved.
 Contribute to the development of the sector with various higher education institutions, technical and vocational trainers,
organizations and individuals engaged in research and dissemination, technology developers and the Ministry of Science and
Innovation.

Main activities of the EEG R&D Center
 Plans, Organizes, deploys, monitors and  executes research and development activities, product and production improvement
works  at the group level and in each factory with in the group.  
 Provides necessary support to make available research and development results, findings, services and products produced with in
the Group.
 Designs products and production process (layout, tooling, quality documents, production equipment, and human resource
composition) and perform technology supervision.
  Select, design and impliment best practices in production management, operation management and manufacturing technology
and enhances EEG’s Profecionals capacity with training;
  Gathers, adapts, and disseminates foreign technology knowledge and experience;
  Study and enrich indigenous manufacturing knowledge and technologies and grow them into industrial scales;
  Conducts research activities that will accelerate the country’s technological development, distribute technology to the user
through capacity building and storage;
 Organizes research knowledge, develops usage strategies and transmits it to the user through training and supervision;
  Coordinates the design and development work at the factory level, jointly develops various production technologies that need to
be developed at the factory level.
