Hydraulic Tank

Remove Hydraulic Tank
Stop the engine, lower the bucket to the ground, move the control levers
backward and forward to release the pressure in the hydraulic system.
Slowly loosen the cap to release any pressure in the hydraulic tank. Let
the hydraulic oil become cool before any lines are disconnected in the
hydraulic system.
1. Drain the oil from the hydraulic tank.
2. Remove the bolts and cover (1).

3. Remove cover (2) and the bolts that hold it in place.
4. Remove the four bolts, filter tube (3) and the gasket.
5. Remove four bolts, two spacers and guard (4).
6. Disconnect three lines (5) and two lines (6) from the hydraulic tank.
7. Disconnect oil line (7) from the tank.
8. Disconnect two lines (8) from the rear of the tank.
9. Disconnect the tilt and lift linkage rods (10).
10. Disconnect line (9).
11. Remove the bolts and flanges and disconnect line (11).
12. Remove four bolts, elbow (12) and the gasket from the hydraulic tank.
13. Remove the bolts and flanges. Disconnect line (13) from the rear of the tank.
14. Put a lift truck in position under hydraulic tank (14).
15. Remove two bolts (15) from the bracket on bottom of the hydraulic tank.
16. Remove bolts (16) from the left side of the tank.
17. Remove nut (17) and bolt (18).
18. Make a final inspection to make sure all lines and brackets have been disconnected.
19. Remove the hydraulic tank. The weight of the hydraulic tank is 615 lb. (277 kg).
Install Hydraulic Tank
1. Put hydraulic tank (1) in position with the lift truck.
2. Install nut (2) and bolt (3). Tighten nut (2) to a torque of 110 ± 15 lb.ft. (149 ± 20 N·m). Tighten
bolt (3) to a torque of 265 ± 35 lb.ft. (360 ± 45 N·m).
3. Install bolts (4) and tighten them to a torque of 265 ± 35 lb.ft. (360 ± 45 N·m).
4. Install bolts (5) in the bracket on the rear of the tank. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 265 ± 35 lb.ft.
(360 ± 45 N·m).
NOTE: Make sure all O-ring seals are in position before the hydraulic lines are connected. Put a
small amount of oil on all seals.
5. Put line (6) in position and install the flanges and bolts.
6. Install line (8) and the flanges and bolts. Install the gasket, elbow (7) and the bolts.
7. Connect two lines (9) to the rear of the tank.
8. Connect line (10) to the hydraulic tank.
9. Connect line (11) to the right side of the tank. Connect linkages (12) to the controls on the tank.
10. Put lines (13) and (14) in position and install the bolts that hold the lines in position.
11. Put cover (15) in position. Install two spacers and four bolts.
12. Put the gasket in position and install filler tube (16) and the bolts.
13. Install cover (17) and the bolts that hold it in place.
14. Put cover (18) in position and install the four bolts.
15. Fill the tank with clean hydraulic oil. See LUBRICATION AND MAINTENANCE GUIDE.
Disassemble Hydraulic Tank
start by:
a) remove hydraulic tank
NOTE: It is not necessary to remove the hydraulic tank to remove the valves on the inside.
1. Remove the hydraulic oil filter.
2. Remove the bolts, cover (1) and the gasket.
3. Remove four nuts (2) and disconnect tube assembly.
4. Remove two bolts (3) from the bracket.

5. Loosen two bolts (4). The top bolt can be removed at this time. The lower bolt must be removed
when the tube assembly is removed.
6. Remove the bolts, filter housing (5) and seal.
7. Disconnect two lines (6).
8. Remove the bolts and tube assembly (7). Remove bolt (4) with the tube assembly.
9. Disconnect two lines (8).
10. Remove bolt (9) and nut. Disconnect the lever. Do the same for the lever on the bottom of the
control valve.
11. Remove the cotter pin, pin and lever (10). Do the same for the lever on the bottom of the control
valve.
12. Install tooling (A) and fasten a hoist.
13. Remove two bolts (11) and the control valve. The weight of the control valve is 185 lb. (84 kg).
14. Remove the cotter pin and pin from linkage (12).
15. Remove bolt (13), lever (14) and the key from the shaft.
16. Remove bolts (16), lever assembly (15) and gasket.
17. Loosen the bolt. Remove lever (20), key (21) and washer (17) from shaft (19).
18. Remove shaft (19) from housing (18).
19. Remove bushing (22) from the lever.
20. Remove lip type seal (23) from the housing.
21. Remove bearings (24) from the housing.
22. Remove the cotter pin and pin (25). Do the same for the lever assembly at the bottom of the tank.
23. Remove bolts (26) and the bucket positioner slave cylinder. Do the same for the lift kickout slave
cylinder.
24. Loosen the bolt and remove lever (29).
25. Remove three bolts (28) and lever assembly (27). Do the same for the lever assembly at the
bottom of the tank.
26. Remove spring (31) and lever assembly (32).
27. Remove the bolt and plate (30) from the housing.
28. Remove the nut and roller (33) from lever assembly (32).
29. Remove bushing (34).
30. Remove the bolt and lever (36).
31. Remove key (39), spacer (41), housing (35), washer (40) and spacer (38) from shaft (37).

32. Remove lip type seal (42) and bearings (43) from the housing.
Assemble Hydraulic Tank
1. Install the bearing even with the outside surface with tooling (A) in housing (1).
2. Install the bearing even with the bottom of the counterbore with tooling (A).
3. Install the lip type seal with tooling (A) even with the outside surface as shown.
4. Put spacer (4) and washer (3) in position on shaft (2).
5. Install the shaft in the housing.
6. Install plate (5) and the bolt.
7. Install key (6) and lever (7). Tighten the bolt in the lever.
8. Install the bushing in lever (8) with tooling (A). The bushing must be even or below the surface.
9. Put roller (9) in position in the lever and install the nut. Tighten the nut to a torque of 15 ± 2 lb.ft.
(20 ± 3 N·m).
10. Connect spring (10) to the plate and lever (8).
11. Put lever assembly (12) and slave cylinder (11) in position.
12. Install bolts (13) into the lever assembly and slave cylinder.
NOTE: Do Steps 1-12 for slave cylinder and lever assembly at the bottom of the tank.
13. Put the key in position and install lever (14) and tighten the bolt.
14. Install the bearing with tooling (A) even with the surface in housing (15).
15. Install the bearing with tooling (A) even with the top of the counterbore.
16. Install the lip type seal even or below the surface with tooling (A) as shown.
17. Install the bushing in lever (16) with tooling (A). The bushing must be even or below the surface.
18. Put shaft (18) in position in the housing.
19. Install washer (17), key (20) and lever (19). Tighten the bolt in the lever.
20. Put the housing (15) and gasket in position in the tank and install the bolts.
21. Install lever (21) and tighten the bolt in the lever.
22. Put linkage (22) in position. Install the pin and cotter pin.
23. Install tooling (B) and fasten a hoist to control valve (23).
24. Connect two lines (24).
25. Put linkage (25) in position and install the pin and cotter pin.
26. Put the lever in position and install bolt (26).
27. Make an adjustment of spring (X) in the holes given as necessary to get a torque of 16 ± 4 lb.ft.
(21 ± 5 N·m) to turn shaft (Y). This torque is the same as 20 lb. (90N) of force at the control lever. If
there is no hole in the plate to make an increase to the tension of spring (X), a new spring must be
installed.
NOTE: Bolt (27) must be installed in tube assembly (28) at this time.
28. Put tube assembly (28) and the seal in position and install the bolts. Tighten the bolts to a torque
of 60 ± 2 lb.ft. (80 ± 3 N·m).
29. Make a connection of lines (29) and (30).
30. Put O-ring seal (32) in position. Install oil filter housing (31) and the bolts.
31. Put the tube assembly in position and install four nuts (33). Tighten the nuts to a torque of 43 ± 5
lb.ft. (59 ± 7 N·m).
32. Install the two bolts in the rear support bracket.
33. Connect the tube to the front of the oil filter housing.
34. Put the gasket in position and install cover (34) and the bolts. Tighten bolts (35) to a torque of 43
± 5 lb.ft. (59 ± 7 N·m).
35. Install the oil filter.

Remove Hydraulic Tank

1. Drain the oil from the hydraulic tank.

2. Remove the bolts and cover (1).

3. Remove cover (2) and the bolts that hold it in place.

5. Remove four bolts, two spacers and guard (4).

7. Disconnect oil line (7) from the tank.

8. Disconnect two lines (8) from the rear of the tank.

9. Disconnect the tilt and lift linkage rods (10).

10. Disconnect line (9).

14. Put a lift truck in position under hydraulic tank (14).

17. Remove nut (17) and bolt (18).

Install Hydraulic Tank

1. Put hydraulic tank (1) in position with the lift truck.

7. Connect two lines (9) to the rear of the tank.

8. Connect line (10) to the hydraulic tank.

Disassemble Hydraulic Tank

a) remove hydraulic tank

1. Remove the hydraulic oil filter.

2. Remove the bolts, cover (1) and the gasket.

3. Remove four nuts (2) and disconnect tube assembly.

4. Remove two bolts (3) from the bracket.

6. Remove the bolts, filter housing (5) and seal.

7. Disconnect two lines (6).

9. Disconnect two lines (8).

12. Install tooling (A) and fasten a hoist.

16. Remove bolts (16), lever assembly (15) and gasket.

18. Remove shaft (19) from housing (18).

19. Remove bushing (22) from the lever.

20. Remove lip type seal (23) from the housing.

21. Remove bearings (24) from the housing.

24. Loosen the bolt and remove lever (29).

26. Remove spring (31) and lever assembly (32).

29. Remove bushing (34).

30. Remove the bolt and lever (36).

Assemble Hydraulic Tank

4. Put spacer (4) and washer (3) in position on shaft (2).

5. Install the shaft in the housing.

6. Install plate (5) and the bolt.

10. Connect spring (10) to the plate and lever (8).

18. Put shaft (18) in position in the housing.

24. Connect two lines (24).

26. Put the lever in position and install bolt (26).

29. Make a connection of lines (29) and (30).

32. Install the two bolts in the rear support bracket.

35. Install the oil filter.
