Quantity of steel is not dependent on the volume of concrete, but on the structure where it is being used.

Slabs: 0.7 to 1.0%,

Beams: 1% to 2%,
Columns: 1% to 5%

It may vary depending upon the loading condition as well

For Example
Lets take example of RCC Column, where reinforcement required is 2 % of concrete volume, weight of
steel required will be:
(2/100*1)*7850 (steel density )-per m3 steel-157 kg

However if you require an approximate value, then we can follow thumb rule for steel requirement that
provides a rough value of Steel quantity per M3 used

Footing - 80 kg/cumec
column - 160 kg/ cumec
Beam - 110 kg/ cumec
slab - 80 kg / cumec

P.s : the thumb rule is just an appr. value given taking into task of normal dimension of structure provided.
its always better to go through design calculation

Required Quantity Of steel for 1m3 concrete is

Generally we are consider 100kgs steel per cum of concrete

for calculation which will give the rough quantity of steel
required for project

Steel quantity for different -2 structural members are

for columns 2-3%

for slabs 0.5-1.5%
for beams 1-1.5%
for piles 2-5%

Thanks for the A2A

Best Of Luck Ahead :)

Quantity of steel in concrete depending on type of structure and load of structure.

1. For Foundation :- 0.5 to 0.8 % steel are required

Let we take minimum 0.5 % of steel is required on 1 m3 concrete

Open in App
Then quantity of steel. = (0.5/100)×1× 7850

= 39.25 kg

7850 = density of steel

If we take maximum 0.8% steel is required

Then quantity of steel is = (0.8/100)× 7850

= 62.8 kg

2. For column :- 0.8 - 6 % of steel required

For minimum 0.8 %. = (0.8/100)×7850

It's depend upon where you want to use it. In slab?, Beam?, Columns?, foundation?, Lintel ?etc.

Thanks for the ask, but this is not something I know much about.

I think you are asking about the rebar, reinforcing rods, used in pouring concrete.

If so, this is determined either by building code in your area, or the specific engineering required to support
your design.

You need a bit more clarity in your question, and either an engineer or a concrete speciallist to get a solid
answer.

The quantity of steel depends on the type of structure, not on concrete volume. The quantity of steel varies
from member to member such as beam, column, slab, footings etc. Because the load carrying capacity of
different members is different.

Suppose a column is to build with 4% concrete volume. So the steel required for that column is

= (4/100)x1 x 7850 [ Density of 1m³ steel = 7850 kg]

We can follow the following thumb rules for different RCC members.

1. Steel requirement for RCC beam = 1 to 2% or 78.5 kg to 157 kg/m³

Open in App
2. Steel requirement for RCC column = 0.8 to 6 % or 62.8 kg to 471 kg/m³
3. Steel requirement for RCC Slab = 0.7 to 1% or 55 kg to 78.5 kg/m³

4. Steel requirement for RCC Lintel = 0.7 to 1% or 55 kg to 78.5 kg/m³

5. Steel requirement for Foundation = 0.5 to 0.8% or 34.25 to 62.8 kg/m³

150 - 300 Kg depending on what structural element you are designing for.

That’s a very general question – The amount of reinforcement in concrete is put according to the structural
design, which in itself depends on many factors. Also, it depends on where this 1M3 of concrete will be?

I will still try to give you some ‘general’ - or rules of thumb - figures:

1. Footings and mat foundations require the least amount - and the range is between 80KG - 90KG
of steel per M3

2. Slabs and beams require some more - the range is between 100KG - 110KG of steel per M3

3. Columns require the most amount - which can go up to 180 KG of steel per M3

I hope I have narrowed down for you a bit.

im guessing your talking about reinforcing bar ? that is determined by the engineer and architect.
unfortunately theres no easy answer as it depends on what is specified for the strength of hardened
cement, and the grade of reinforcing bar the engineer wants as well as any code requirements .
