TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION PROJECT GRANT PROPOSAL

Name of Applicant: Lauren Hagood

District/School: Sixes Elementary

Date: 07/10/2022

Total Cost of Project: $2,473

Title of Project: iTeach

To what organization will you submit this grant application in the future? Cherokee County
Educational Foundation (CCEF)

I. Why is this project important (In 2-3 paragraphs, describe the need for the project and its
relevance to the shared vision for instructional technology)?

This project has the opportunity to reach multiple students and enhance learning through
technology. iPads and Osmo can take research and learning to a whole new level for all types
of learners. Currently, my classroom had all of the iPads taken away for being outdated. This
has caused a huge barrier when teaching. Sixes Elementary and the Cherokee County School
District are trying to implement blended learning environments. Without the necessary
technology, a blended learning environment is not feasible.
The Cherokee County School District’s vision is to provide a learning environment that
educates the emerging generation. Sixes Elementary School’s updated School Improvement
Plan (SIP) aligns to the district technology plan creating a shared vision. The overall goal is
to educate the emerging generation while incorporating technology to promote collaboration
and critical thinking skills to ensure student success. The Sixes Elementary School SIP also
includes the goal to increase the percentage of student scoring at proficient and distinguished
on the GA Milestones in the ELA section. With technology, students would be provided with
authentic and meaningful learning opportunities.

II. What would you like to accomplish (In 1-2 paragraphs, describe the overall project goals
and then list the instructional objectives/project outcomes.)?
There are multiple instructional objectives within this project.
- Learners will use PebbleGo, BrainPop, and Galileo to research topics within the county RCD
units. (ELAGSE2RI4)
- Students will have the opportunity to choose how they present their findings for the RCD
tasks. Some of these choices will include, PowerPoint, FlipGrid, Sway, Clips, and
ChatterPix. (ELAGSE2W6)
- Students will use Raz-Kids (https://www.raz-plus.com/) to read and listen to stories. This
program will help improve their accuracy and fluency. (ELAGSE2RF4)

- Students will use Raz-Kids (https://www.raz-plus.com/) to read and listen to stories and then
answer comprehension questions at the end. (ELAGSE2RF4)
- Students will use OSMO to work on 2nd grade phonics (https://www.playosmo.com/en/).
(ELAGSE2RF3)
- Students will ask and answer questions to find out where our Mystery Teams classroom is
located. (ELAGSE2RL1)
These project objectives will help reach the goal of increasing student performance on the GA
Milestones in the ELA portion. These improvement goals are targeted for 3rd-5th, but I am responsible
for laying a strong foundation. This project supports the CCSD Five Year Strategic Plan by supporting
high expectations for learning and successful positive student performance. It will also utilize
curriculum, instructional design, and assessment practices to ensure student learning.

III. In what ways is this project an example of exemplary technology integration (In 2-3
paragraphs discuss your project regarding one or more of the following: LoTi, SAMR,
TPACK, TIM, etc.)?

This project is an example of a high LoTi score. This project is focused on implementing a
blended learning environment within my classroom. Students will be using technology to collaborate
with peers inside and outside of the classroom. They will do this by collaborating with other classes to
create a story, project, and a Mystery Teams session. The Mystery Teams session focuses on many
different standards. Mystery Teams is a great opportunity for both classes to form questions to ask each
other. Students will use their thinking and problem-solving skills to form questions and use clues to find
out where the other class is located. Students will have access to different types of programs which
allows them to create original works of learning.
As for the SAMR model, students would be working at the redefinition stage. Tasks that have
been completed within the classroom will get a “facelift”. Students will have the opportunity to use
different multimedia tools to create a project that they would present to their peers and/or community.
Students will have access to Canvas and ClassDojo, where they can share their work and provide
feedback to others.

IV. How will you complete the work? (Describe how the project will be completed.)
The project will be completed by working with my Instructional Lead Strategist (ILS) and the
Instructional Technology Specialist (ITS). By working with these two individuals, I am able to
bring the curriculum and technology portions together to create an exemplar blended learning
environment. I also plan on participating in professional development opportunities. Along with
these things, I plan on teaching and modeling to my students how to use the technology and how
to become a digital citizen.

A. Describe how the instructional objectives/project outcomes will be met (In 2-3 paragraphs,
describe what students will do to demonstrate mastery of the objectives/outcomes.).

Students are required to complete RCD Units through the new ELA program for CCSD. For
these units, it would be very beneficial to use iPads to complete the designated tasks. Students would be
able to use Pebblego, BrainPopjr, and even virtual field trips to gather information about their given
topic. Once their research has ended and their information has been gathered, the use of the iPad doesn’t
stop there. Students will then be able to use the iPad to create different ways to present their information.

Students would be able to use PowerPoint, Sway, FlipGrid, the Clips app, and Chatterpix as tools to
share their information with me, their parents, and their peers.
As the gifted teacher for my grade level, I will be able to use iPads to challenge and provide
enrichment activities for my gifted students. Students will be able to use GreenScreen apps to create
final projects that show mastery.
The iPads will help my struggling learners and ESOL students in many ways. The iPad has apps
that provide virtual manipulatives to support learning standards in math, and letter formation practice
apps that would greatly benefit my struggling learners. We get students who are new to the country and
are unable to speak English. The iPad will allow me to communicate with them using various translation
tools.
Canvas has been launched in our district and it allows teachers and students to go paperless. I
have recently started to incorporate Excel Forms into their everyday learning. The students read a book
on their level and then login to Canvas to see that they have an assignment due. They use the Excel form
that I push into their Canvas assignments to answer questions about their book – ex. What is the title of
your book? What is the main idea? Who are the characters? Find and record nouns and verbs that you
find in your book. Students will be able to take quizzes on the iPad. It is also a tool for them to embed
their final projects to their canvas account.
Osmo is a great interactive resource that requires an iPad. I can tailor each child’s specific need
by creating word lists that target needed skills. I can create words lists online and push them to the iPads
that connect with our Fundations Phonics program.
By using these different programs on the iPads, students can show mastery in different ways. My
hope is to create a blended and personalized learning environment.

B. Describe the time involved (Describe the project length including amount of time each
day/week; include a timeline for planning and implementation).

To implement a fully blended learning environment, it will take a lot of time and effort. I
plan on sitting down with our ILS and ITS every few weeks to check in and prepare for the
upcoming units. These meetings will take place during my planning time during the work week,
since our afternoons are usually taken with meetings. I will spend 2-3 hours a week planning
and researching ways to implement technology into my lessons. I will spend 1 hour a week
(broken up), to model and teach my students to use different programs within the iPads. Overall,
I plan to have a fully blended learning classroom by the February 2023.
To begin, I will need to gather student data from the RCD pretests, their reading level, and
their Fundations assessments. I will then take the data and analyze it. Once the data is analyzed,
I will take 1-2 hours a week and plan differentiated lessons for students.

C. Describe the people involved (To show impact, describe the grade level/subject & # of
students, teachers and/or staff, other stakeholders).
The people involved with this project will be…
- General subject: ELA – Reading, Writing, Phonics
- Grade Level: 2nd Grade
- Number of students: A full class (23 students)
- Number of teachers and staff involved: Three – This includes myself (the classroom teacher),
the Instructional Lead Strategist, and the Instructional Technology Specialist.

D. Describe any professional development that you or others will complete prior to
implementing the grant. (This is optional, but will help reviewers know that you are well
prepared to carry out the grant implementation.)
The district offers a “iPads in the K-12 Classroom – Create More Than You Consume”
professional development. I would like to complete this professional development to
expand my knowledge on implementing iPads into my classroom.

E. Describe the materials needed for the project (Provide links to relevant websites; include a
written description of how the technology/ies will benefit students).
- A classroom subscription to Raz-Kids Plus - https://www.raz-plus.com/
- A subscription to Microsoft Office – https://login.microsoftonline.com/login.srf
- 7 Apple iPads - https://www.apple.com/education/
- 7 Apple iPad Cases - https://www.apple.com/education/
- 1 Osmo Genuis Kit - https://www.playosmo.com/en/
All of the technology listed above will help created a blended learning environment within
my classroom. The Raz-Kids subscription will increase fluency, accuracy, and
comprehension. While the OSMO will increase decoding skills. The Microsoft Office
account allows students to collaborate, use critical thinking skills, and create original works
of learning. Students can also use the different features within Microsoft to collaborate with
others outside of the classroom.

V. How will you assess accomplishments and objectives/project outcomes (In 2-3 paragraphs,
describe the timeline for assessing, the program evaluation procedure, and how success of
the grant project will be determined.)?
Pre-Assessment of Reading and Writing abilities:
- Teacher will conduct baseline assessments on the student’s instructional reading level using
Scholastic, their phonics level using EasyCBM and Fundations, and writing abilities using
the RCD unit pretests.
Post Assessment of Reading and Writing abilities:
- Teacher will conduct post- assessment for the student’s instructional reading level using
Scholastic, their phonics level using unit Fundations tests, and writing abilities using the
RCD unit posttests.

VI. How will the students be impacted by the project (In 1-2 paragraphs, describe how the impact
on students will be assessed and reported to students, parents, teachers, and others.)?
Multiple students will be impacted through this project. My target population for this project will
be my current and future students. With special emphasis on students needing remediation, ESOL
students, gifted students needing to be challenged, and my general ed students. To assess the
accomplishments and objectives of this project will span over the course of a few months. In August
when students arrive to school, they are given multiple assessments to get a baseline. Students will take
the Scholastic reading assessment to determine their current instructional reading level. Students will
also take assessments through EasyCBM and Fundations to assess their phonics level. This assessment
data will be tracked by the teacher and the students in their student data folder. These assessments will
be given in August, December, and April/May. This data will also be shared with parents throughout the
school year. The success of this project will be determined by the growth made throughout the year.
