Region X
Division of Bukidnon
KALILANGAN NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL
Ninoy Aquino, Kalilangan, Bukidnon
I. Content Standard: The learners demonstrate an understanding of how these mechanisms help the
organism maintain homeostasis to reproduce and survive.
II. Performance Standards: The learners should be able to perform science activities that relates to
nervous system.
III. Learning Competency and Code: Describe how the nervous system coordinates and regulates
these feedback mechanisms to maintain homeostasis. (S10LT – IIIc-36)
IV. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the learners are expected to:
1. Identify the parts and functions of the nervous system. (Cognitive)
2. Investigate how fast the response of our brain in a given situation in our daily lives.
(Affective)
3. Illustrate how peripheral and central nervous system works. (Psychomotor).
(Psychomotor)
V. Content
1. Subject Matter: Homeostasis and the Nervous System
2. Process Skills: Communicating skills, Science skills, Crafting skills, Creativity
3. Learning Areas Integrated:
English: Learners will be using English as a medium of communication in the
entire duration of the class.
4. Teaching Strategies: Discussion, Inquiry-Based strategy, Activity-Based Approach,
Cooperative Learning strategy
5. Science Concept/s:
The body is designed in such a way that all the organs and organ
system work together in order to maintain homeostasis or maintaining
internal environment in equilibrium. All the organ system are controlled by
the nervous system while the endocrine system secretes hormones that
regulate all the body’s activities.
Nervous system connects all your body parts and transmits signals
from one part to another. It is a system of cells, tissues and organs that
regulates the body’s response to internal and external stimuli. Each part of the
nervous system has a specific role as it functions as an important part of a
system.

VI. Procedures
Yes, ma’am.
C. Explore: Provide students with a common experience. (Collaborative learning, Activity-based Approach,
discussion)
Objective 1: Identify the parts and functions of the nervous system. (Cognitive)
The brain as we know is the master *Signage for Activity 3:
organ of the body. It controls almost stations “Break it
all bodily functions even if we are *Activity Down”
awake or not. Our body responds to sheets
the environment automatically and *Questions
these responses are needed in order
for us to survive. Our brain is part of
our body systems called nervous
system. Do you know what nervous
system is? Do you have any idea
about its parts and structure? Yes/no ma’am.
For you to find out, do you see 3
emoji stations? Yes ma’am.
Guide Questions:
1. What is nervous system?
2. Discuss the parts of a neuron.
D. Explain: Teach the concept. Should include interaction between teacher and students. (Collaborative
Approach, Activity-based approach, discussion) 20 mins
Objective 3: Illustrate how peripheral and central nervous system works. (Psychomotor)
Based from the previous activity, *Emoji Activity 4:
what are the two main divisions of *PPT slide “Fact or a
the Nervous system? Yes, Myco. *Laptop bluff”
The Central and Peripheral
nervous system.
Very good, Myco. How will you
differentiate the two? Yes, Jeramae?
The Central nervous system
is the main processing center
for the entire nervous system
while the peripheral nervous
system connects the central
nervous system to the organs.
Correct! Our bodies coordinated
because we have a Central Nervous
system. It is consist of the brain and
spinal cord. What do you think is the
function of the brain? The brain functions as
organizer and distributor of
the information for the body.
Good. The brain is divided into three
major parts. What are those? Yes,
Ereka. The cerebrum, cerebellum
and brainstem.
Exactly! The cerebrum is the largest
part of the brain. It is where learning,
intelligence and judgment occur. The
cerebellum coordinates voluntary
muscle movements and maintains
balance and muscle tone. The
brainstem control heartbeat,
breathing and blood pressure and
coordinates involuntary muscle
movements.
Questions:
1. CNS is composed of the brain and
the spinal cord.
2. You are frightened, this will cause
to activate your parasympathetic NS.
3. Cerebrum, Cerebellum and
brainstem are the main parts of the
brain.
5. Autonomic NS is a division of
Peripheral NS that controls
contractions of heart muscle.
E. Elaborate: Learners apply the information learned in the Explain. The teacher will give inputs to deepen
the understanding of the learners. (Hands-On-Minds-On Strategy, Collaborative Learning Approach,
Reporting) 15 mins
Objective 2: Investigate how fast the response of our brain in a given situation in our daily lives. (Affective)
Neurons have the special ability to This system is like a network *Metric ruler Activity 5:
carry signals or impulses. A nerve that relays messages back and *Activity “How Fast is
impulse is an electrochemical signal forth from the brain to sheets your
moving along a neuron. So how does various parts of the body. Reaction?
your nervous system work?
Guide questions:
1. With which hand did you catch the
ruler faster when your eyes were
open?
2. With which hand did you catch the
ruler faster when your eyes were
closed?
3. Did you catch the ruler faster with
your eyes open or closed?
4. Explain why a message moving
along nerve pathways take time?
5. Describe the nerve pathway that
the message followed when you saw
the ruler fall.
F. Evaluate: Evaluating learning. (Pen and paper test) 10 mins
To check your understanding of our *Pen Activity 6:
topic, please get ¼ sheet of paper. *Paper “Quizizz”
Write your name, grade and section
and number it from 1-5. Just write
the letter that corresponds to your
answer. I will be giving you 5
minutes to answer. Is everything
clear? Yes ma’am.
Let us begin.
