Teaching Date February 27-28, March 1-3, 2023 Quarter Third
and Time MTWThF 12:00-5:00 PM

I. Content Standard: The learners demonstrate an understanding of how these mechanisms help the
organism maintain homeostasis to reproduce and survive.
II. Performance Standards: The learners should be able to perform science activities that relates to
nervous system.
III. Learning Competency and Code: Describe how the nervous system coordinates and regulates
these feedback mechanisms to maintain homeostasis. (S10LT – IIIc-36)
IV. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the learners are expected to:
1. Identify the parts and functions of the nervous system. (Cognitive)
2. Investigate how fast the response of our brain in a given situation in our daily lives.
(Affective)
3. Illustrate how peripheral and central nervous system works. (Psychomotor).
(Psychomotor)
V. Content
1. Subject Matter: Homeostasis and the Nervous System
2. Process Skills: Communicating skills, Science skills, Crafting skills, Creativity
3. Learning Areas Integrated:
 English: Learners will be using English as a medium of communication in the
entire duration of the class.
4. Teaching Strategies: Discussion, Inquiry-Based strategy, Activity-Based Approach,
Cooperative Learning strategy
5. Science Concept/s:
The body is designed in such a way that all the organs and organ
system work together in order to maintain homeostasis or maintaining
internal environment in equilibrium. All the organ system are controlled by
the nervous system while the endocrine system secretes hormones that
regulate all the body’s activities.
Nervous system connects all your body parts and transmits signals
from one part to another. It is a system of cells, tissues and organs that
regulates the body’s response to internal and external stimuli. Each part of the
nervous system has a specific role as it functions as an important part of a
system.

Good morning class!
Good morning Ma’am.

Before you take your seat, please

arrange your chairs properly and pick up
pieces of paper and cellophane on the
floor.
Students are doing the daily
routine.)
Everyone, please seat down.
Let us now check your attendance. Say
“Darna” if your name is called.
The learners are saying Darna
once their name is called.
Before we will begin our lesson, I want
you to remember our classroom rules
which is to respect and listen to each
other and please obey our rules at all
times. Kindly follow the safety health
protocols as we go along in our lesson.
Strictly no removing of Face mask. Is
everything clear, class?
(The students are answering in
chorus).

Yes, ma’am.

A. Elicit: Access of prior knowledge (Inquiry approach) 5 mins.

I will be showing a set of diagrams *Pictures Activity 1:
showing different organs of the *Slides “Odd Organ
human body. Determine which organ *Laptop Out”
does not belong to the group by
naming it and state a brief reason
why the organ should not be
included in the group. I will be
calling names in the name box to
answer. Are you ready? Yes ma’am.
(Presentation of the diagram)

B. Engage: Get the learners’ minds focused on the topic. 5 mins

In order for you to have a glimpse of *PPT Activity 2:
our lesson today, do you want *Laptop “Follow my
another activity? command”
Yes, ma’am.
Since you want, we will be playing a
game called “suman, siomai,
siopao”. Are you familiar with this
game class?
No ma’am.
This time I will introduced to you the
game. May I request five (5) students
to come here in front to play the
game. You who’s in your chairs will
help me do some judgments.
Volunteers please be in front. (The volunteers are going in
front)

(Giving of instructions to the

volunteers and telling them to
memorize the command and
consistently follow the actions
executed)

Have you enjoyed while just

watching the volunteers to follow my
commands? Yes ma’am.

Now this time, I’m going to ask you

some questions. This is just easy. 16 ma’am.
What is 4 times 4?
120 ma’am.
Good! How about 12 times 10?
Excellent! Now who know the
square root of 64? Ma’am, its 8.

Very good. It’s just easy right? Now

based on the activity that we had a
while ago, what had you noticed on
it? What do you think is the reason
that you had come out with your
Ma’am, we were able to
answer?
answer it because we already
had discussed it with our
class.

Yes, indeed. But what about the 1st

activity that we did? We are able to catch up with
the commands Ma’am with
the help of our brain.

Yeah, right. It’s our brain which

worked on our two activities. You
were able to answer my questions as
well as you followed by commands.

Based on our activities, do you have

now an idea about what will be our Ma’am, I think our lesson for
lesson this afternoon? Any idea? today is Nervous System.

Excellent. That’s it. We will explore

now on Nervous System, its parts,
subcomponents, its structures and
processes. But before that, lest us
first know the objectives that
everyone must attain at the end of the (Reading of objectives)
lesson. Everyone, kindly read.

C. Explore: Provide students with a common experience. (Collaborative learning, Activity-based Approach,
discussion)
Objective 1: Identify the parts and functions of the nervous system. (Cognitive)
The brain as we know is the master *Signage for Activity 3:
organ of the body. It controls almost stations “Break it
all bodily functions even if we are *Activity Down”
awake or not. Our body responds to sheets
the environment automatically and *Questions
these responses are needed in order
for us to survive. Our brain is part of
our body systems called nervous
system. Do you know what nervous
system is? Do you have any idea
about its parts and structure? Yes/no ma’am.
For you to find out, do you see 3
emoji stations? Yes ma’am.

I will group you into three. 1st row

will be group 1, 2nd row will be (Students listen attentively to
group 2 and 3rd row will be group 3. teacher’s instructions.)
Those station contain vital facts and
information about Nervous system.
Now, what you are going to do is to
visit those stations by group and read
it carefully with comprehension for
afterwards I will be asking questions
regarding the topic. Group 1 will
visit station 1, Group 2 will visit
station2 and Group 3 will visit
station 3. After visiting your 1st
station, move to the next station. Am Yes ma’am.
I clear?

You are given 3 minutes in every

station. I will signal if it’s already
time. Do the activity silently for I
will give deduction points to the “Yes, ma’am.
group who are very noisy,
understood? (The students are doing the
activity)
You can start now!
(After 10 minutes)

Guide Questions:
1. What is nervous system?
2. Discuss the parts of a neuron.

D. Explain: Teach the concept. Should include interaction between teacher and students. (Collaborative
Approach, Activity-based approach, discussion) 20 mins
Objective 3: Illustrate how peripheral and central nervous system works. (Psychomotor)
Based from the previous activity, *Emoji Activity 4:
what are the two main divisions of *PPT slide “Fact or a
the Nervous system? Yes, Myco. *Laptop bluff”
The Central and Peripheral
nervous system.
Very good, Myco. How will you
differentiate the two? Yes, Jeramae?
The Central nervous system
is the main processing center
for the entire nervous system
while the peripheral nervous
system connects the central
nervous system to the organs.
Correct! Our bodies coordinated
because we have a Central Nervous
system. It is consist of the brain and
spinal cord. What do you think is the
function of the brain? The brain functions as
organizer and distributor of
the information for the body.
Good. The brain is divided into three
major parts. What are those? Yes,
Ereka. The cerebrum, cerebellum
and brainstem.
Exactly! The cerebrum is the largest
part of the brain. It is where learning,
intelligence and judgment occur. The
cerebellum coordinates voluntary
muscle movements and maintains
balance and muscle tone. The
brainstem control heartbeat,
breathing and blood pressure and
coordinates involuntary muscle
movements.

The peripheral nervous system

composed of somatic NS and
Autonomic NS. Who can describe
the two? Yes, Lorenzo. The somantic system is
associated with the voluntary
control of body movements
while the autonomic system
is associated with the
involuntary control body
movements.

You are right, Lorenzo. This time, let

us play a game entitled “Fact or
Bluff”. I will give you sets of
statements and you’re going to
analyze it whether it is true or not. If
it is true, raise the happy face emoji
and if it is bluff you raise the sad
Yes ma’am.
face emoji. Is that clear?

Questions: 
1. CNS is composed of the brain and
the spinal cord.

2. You are frightened, this will cause
to activate your parasympathetic NS.

3. Cerebrum, Cerebellum and
brainstem are the main parts of the 
brain.

4. Spinal nerve is tube-like organ of 

neurons and blood vessels.

5. Autonomic NS is a division of
Peripheral NS that controls
contractions of heart muscle.
E. Elaborate: Learners apply the information learned in the Explain. The teacher will give inputs to deepen
the understanding of the learners. (Hands-On-Minds-On Strategy, Collaborative Learning Approach,
Reporting) 15 mins
Objective 2: Investigate how fast the response of our brain in a given situation in our daily lives. (Affective)
Neurons have the special ability to This system is like a network *Metric ruler Activity 5:
carry signals or impulses. A nerve that relays messages back and *Activity “How Fast is

your nervous system work?

Stimulus is any factor in the

environment that influences
Correct. It includes stimulus and behavior while response is a
response. Who can differentiate the reaction to a condition or
two? Yes Mariel. stimulus.

(Students are doing the

Dionisia applause)
Very good, Mariel. Let’s give Mariel
a Dionisia applause.

The next activity class will enable

you to understand the concept of
response and stimuli. Use your body
senses to detect the stimuli in your
environment and execute the
corresponding response.

Go back your original group for the

third quarter. Find a place a wide
place in doing this activity. I will be (The students are doing the

activity sheets, read the procedure
comprehensively and answer the
guide questions.

Guide questions:
1. With which hand did you catch the
ruler faster when your eyes were
open?
2. With which hand did you catch the
ruler faster when your eyes were
closed?
3. Did you catch the ruler faster with
your eyes open or closed?
4. Explain why a message moving
along nerve pathways take time?
5. Describe the nerve pathway that
the message followed when you saw
the ruler fall.
F. Evaluate: Evaluating learning. (Pen and paper test) 10 mins
