I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard: The learner demonstrates understanding of key
concepts, uses and importance of Statistics, data collection/gathering and
the different forms of data representation, measures of central tendency,
measures of variability, and probability.
B. Performance Standard: The learner is able to collect and organize
data systematically and compute accurately measures of central tendency
and variability and apply these appropriately in data analysis and
interpretation in different fields.
C. Learning Competency/Objectives: The learner calculates the
measures of central tendency of ungrouped and grouped data. (M7SP-IVf-
g-1)
a. Define Median
b. Find the median of ungroup data
c. Describe the data using information from the median
d. Apply and use excel in finding the median of ungroup data
B. Lesson Proper
Review Yesterday, we discuss
about the mean of
ungroup data, who can
define mean?
(Sample data)
Dice
1st group:
3, 9, 7, 12, 18,14
2nd group:
4, 11, 16, 6, 17
Cards:
3rd group
1, 5, 12, 13, 7, 3
4th group
2, 4, 8, 12, 6
Follow up question
(Student will stand)
What do these numbers Sir, they represent the
represent? numbers or data that we
get from performing the
task, and we call it raw
data
Great!
(Student will stand)
Can we get clear and
No sir, because looking at
precise information
it, it is just values without
immediately as we look at
meaning, because we
these numbers? Why?
didn’t do anything like
summing it up and dividing
it by the number of
elements like we did in the
Nice! mean
Now, looking at the data
can you guess the middle
value of your group’s data? (Student will only look for
the middle and answer it)
Group 1: 9.5
Group 2: 16
Group 3: 12.5
Group 4: 8
Analysis Our topic for today is (Student will stand)
median. But what is really Median value of a data set
a median? Mr. Alden is simply the middle value
please read the definition of the set arranged in
ascending or descending
order. In case there are
two middle values, add the
two values and divide it by
2.
What did you understand
about what you have read? It says that a median is
the middle value of a data
when it is arranged in
increasing or decreasing
Very good, the arranged
order
data will now be called an
array
3rd group
1, 5, 12, 13, 7, 3
I will give you a minute to
Median=12.5
observe the data written in (observe)
the board and apply the
definition of the median.
4th group
2, 4, 8, 12, 6
Median=8
